LMAO this. 1000 hours in FHM games and still have no idea what works for what and what doesnt. Sometimes it just feels super random
And they should definitely have addressed the goalie situation. Its not ok if 1 star 5 hotness goalie makes 95+ save % in playoff run

There is a new tactical recap screen post-game which should help offer some insight into tactical performance, but I agree with what you say - tactics in game are far too vague and also very fiddly (LOTS of clicking back and forth across different screens to set up tactics, lines and roles.

I expressed my thoughts on the previous page but in a nutshell, it feels like new things have been added in when it might've been better to flesh out and improve features that were already in the game.

If the devs are reading this, I do appreciate you are a small team, who don't operate off endless resources. I'm sure you've worked extremely hard to keep developing the game. I know my comments have had a negative tone, but I have tried to be constructive in airing my views. When FHM is good, it's very, very good.

There is nothing new with the custom leagues with the new game?

2 Big Changes to Custom Leagues:

-You can now add additional leagues on July 1.

-You can create tournaments

As far as tactics, you guys are absolutely right. I tend to stay away from them and just focus on being a GM. I would be more inclined to be a coach in FHM if tactics were easier.

Hmm......I feel I've figured out the tactical settings by putting in the hours. Which is what you're supposed to do in a game isn't it? I now win with the exact same teams I used to lose with. Use logic and experimentation. There is still a lot a luck in a sim, but I have expectations and consistency now.

One needs to abandon the Dave Gardner approach of never investing more than 5 minutes in learning a game before giving up.

I was disappointed when I heard they were going to just tell you how to coach, but after watching last night's twitch, I'm not concerned.

It looks like the League Customization features are robust enough to generate an actual hockey universe of sorts. Maybe not quite as strong as OOTP but this has been the feature I've been waiting for and I couldn't be happier.

"For me, the biggest area that needs to be addressed is the tactics. I would like to receive feedback and input on what is working and what isn't and why yes and why not so I can properly implement tactics. I've been playing since FHM 1 and find this area to be underwhelming to say the least."

It certainly inches closer with every release. FHM7 allowed multiple leagues, now 8 adds tournaments. There are still a few core issues that hold it back which I don't get the impression have been changed for this release (e.g. connected leagues inheriting region from the major league; not being able to define regions; junior farm leagues having adult players; not being able to have a league that can draft all juniors without connecting them), but it's certainly at a place now where you can Jerry-rig a half-decent custom world and have fun with it, even if it's not set up exactly as you really want it.

I always keep in mind that OOTP has got where it is over the course of 22 versions. FHM has had much less time to grow. Hopefully it will get there some day.

I think it‘s quite realistic for lower tier leagues. Don’t know about the situation in the AHL and ECHL but in lower tier leagues in Europe, many clubs work with only one full time employee (and many unsalaried people….)

If you can set up an automatic assistant for the finance stuff, I think it is quite a nice and realistic feature as this games supports all these different leagues in addition to the NHL.

FHM is a great sim, but OOTP kind of spoiled me. With the latter it is so easy to make literally any universe you want, and fantasy drafts with historical and current players can happen in any kind of league with one click.

I was expecting FHM to be just as easy to customize as they come from the same publisher, but it isn't. I enjoy my custom FHM league none the less.

I just want to draft, sign and trade players and set lines and tactics. I have no interest in selling jerseys, allocating parking and collecting cards.

You may let your assistant deal with it.

Wow... I just watched the video of game play from last week. The in-game scenario selection thing has just been implemented way too heavily. It came up like 8 times in the first couple of minutes of the game. Even the dev turned it off in the end as it was becoming so monotonous, the 2D engine still isn't convincing me either - even just in the first few minutes of the game, you can see players holding onto the puck for too long, players not coming into support and the puck carrier not utilising obvious passing lanes. I'd hoped this video would convince me to buy the game, it hasn't.
