There are numerous other ones from the same photo shoot (and other years as well) available at the Library of Congress. I believe they are from 1894-1897.

Mort Scanlan 1890

Facepack upgrade, pictured with the 1890 New York Giants. The current Facepack image depicts him as an elderly man. Scanlan played in only 3 games for the Giants, but was highly sought after due to a shortage of quality players when the Player's League debuted.

1913 Austin Senators

I stumbled across this image of the 1913 Austin Senators while looking for Eddie Hohnhorst. There are several major leaguers depicted with the Texas League team, Wiley Taylor, Otto McIvor, Fred Brainard, Luther "Doc" Cook, and Bert James.

KEY:
(top row, standing, l to r) Tulane McCuller); Wiley Taylor (p); Mike Flanagan (p); Bert Larsen (p); Harold Thomson (2b); Otto McIvor (cf); Fred Brainard (if); and Luther Doc Cook (rf). Seated in the front are (l to r) Ben Brownlow (ss); Chester Bobo (c); Eddie Hohnhorst (1b); Leon Lewis (p); William Hille (3b); Harry Haigh (c); and Bert James (lf)

Nice photo of John Barthold from the 1909 Philadelphia Inquirer as a member of the Reading Pretzels. Has been enhanced.

If we still had a "Thanks" button, just for postings on this page alone, I would have been clicking on it for cinemaodyssey, krantzbucks, rrb77, Dto7, and stlcardsfan. I want to give a shout out to the latter for posting the photo of Jackson Mathews. Though not a major leaguer, Mathews was with a big league club (the Pirates) during a major league season, and I have a special interest in those kinds of cases, so I appreciated the lead to him.

As well, Cusick - I totally agreed!!
I missed that button of appreciation and still... don't understand why that is somehow connected to scammers or something akin to that...

Thank you, I as well have been always interested in players such as Matthews, really NRIs in general. Those "what if?" players.

John J. McDonald 1907

Here's another option for McDonald during his very brief trial with the 1907 Washington Senators. He was pictured in the September 12, 1907 edition of The Washington Herald on the occasion of his release from the team.

I could not find a Charles Clayton in the red sox camp in 1921 through the papers, however I did find a mention of an Al Clayton. I think its safe to assume it may be the same man.

He never made it to the team or the majors.
