There's been an issue with a couple of games. Was it a Custom Game? The next update should resolve most issues I believe.

When you get that error, it's likely not a Custom Game issue; can you load any games? Typically that comes from when you can't write to where the game saves (ie; your My Documents folder if it's Steam). How much space do you have? Are you running FHM/Steam in Administrator Mode?

I did get the game working properly because after finishing the Custom League set up I edited everything and changed the team names and proper divisions.

I started playing the game(with NHL reg season starting first on Sept. 20th which makes no sense) and after games on Sept 22nd the game crashes and can't continue.

Can you only play with 9 forwards and 4 defensemen
and 2 goalies for 15 dressed players or must you dress 17 players

Can you dress less than 17 players ?? in FHM 8

Sorry if I'm asking something that's been answered somewhere else.

In Historical Mode, are stadium/arenas built the year they've been built historically, or is it up to us (as manager) to build new stadiums?

(I obviously won't care about building a new arena if a new one is *historically* coming; though GM'ing the Canadiens starting from 1917 involve getting a new arena straight in 1918 then another one in 1919-1920, so I'll get the answer to my question pretty soon...)

I did the exact same set up on a different PC (seldom used) and the exact same thing happened so it looks like a custom league problem.

Also noticed two things wrong with the AHL. Colorado Eagles were missing and the Henderson Silver Knights city is San Antonio,TX(should be Henderson,NV).

I know the protected players are pre-determined for expansion drafts in 2021-22. Does the AI determine them in future years and, if so, can I delete the txt file protection list to have it do it in 2021-22 also?

I want to add two more expansion teams (besides Seattle) to 2021-22 so that is why I am asking.

No, deleting the text file will just leave no players available in the Seattle draft - that's a special mechanic, handled differently from regular expansion drafts. The AI isn't involved in which players are available for it.

It's not possible to combine the Seattle expansion draft with additional expansion in 21-22 - if you choose to have the Seattle draft, the game won't start on July 1, which is necessary to add teams. You would need to start a game without the Seattle draft, have it begin on July 1, and then add your expansion teams and set up a draft for them.

Question Surrounding Custom Game and Tournaments:

-Created a Custom Game with NHL/AHL/CHL
-When creating a tournament: When will the tournament be played, can I choose teams that play I've restarted the game world multiple times and its the same 8 teams that get chosen.
-To be honest I would love more flexibility on this avenue it just seems broken
-Is it possible to setup an in season qualifier for the tournament (Like Champions League) So the Tournament gets played at season end rather then beginning.
-I was also able to create multiple tournaments with different names, however same 8 teams were put into the tournament.
-Tried with and without Initial Draft/with and without Real Players
-Settings used were Groups 2/ 8 teams all single game elimination. Unchecked on Champions qualified and double round/then checked same issues.

I like talent ratings taking stats into account but it causes some problems integrating custom players into standard NHL games. I believe you said at some point that editing/adding statistical histories would not be possible. Would it be possible to spoof some initial stats for custom players via a drop down on the edit screen? I'm imagining options like use real stats, assume 10 pts, assume 20 pts, etc.

Hi,

Started an historical game from the very beginning. Got a message on July 1st 1921 to the effect that "The WCHL has an invalid playoff format", and I otherwise didn't change anything to leagues structure (so it happened on its own). Can't advance the game. Posted it here because it's probably not a bug...

Since the last update, when I right click on a player's name and add them to the watch list, it re-orders the list. Makes it difficult when looking at a U15 roster and adding prospects to the watch list for scouting.

Right clicking on player's names and setting them as captain resorts the roster, as well.

The tournaments will only be preseason ones right now, with the entrants based on the previous season's standings. We'll be adding more options to those.

Not easily. I think I'll have to take another approach with the no-history players that keeps them from being rated unfairly.

Did you have historical editing turned on? It's likely an issue with the league changing to a playoff format that requires a specific division/conference structure, but not changing to that structure. We'll be fixing that so leaving the playoff system updating on will also make the necessary structure changes.

You have to dress the number of players required by the league.

Historical Editing is on, but...

All the other options are ticked, so everything should happen as it did historically.

Is there something I can do in the interim? Because... This game is kinda stuck there.
