This is a screenshot from the 1990/91 season.
The Diving/Embellishment penalty didn't go into effect until the 1992/93 Season.

Then the game handed out coincidental minors tripping and diving (see attached). I don't know how that is even possible.

Then the game went to 4 on 4 on the ice.
The Gretzky rule was in effect then, so it should have been 5 on 5.

I have seen that happen, though it's pretty rare... Basically, in the ref's judgment, there was a legit tripping infraction but the 'victim' went way out of his way to embellish the fall. Hence the offsetting minors.

Yeah, that's what's intended when that combination happens, embellishment on something that still deserved a penalty.

Re: the date, I want to add era- (and league-) specific penalties at some point, but every game uses modern NHL penalties right now.
