Changing position for players

Hi, there's one thing I continue to have trouble with and that's changing the positions for the players. I am running the team as GM with AI enabled for the lineup decisions.
But the AI keeps putting a player in RF and I want them to play 2B. I go to the lineup page and I keep making the change but the AI switches it back

I once stumbled onto how to change the positions but I can't remember how.
How do I change the positions?
thanks

I'm thinking that what you are looking for is what I have shown below.
Go to player's profile, choose drop down menu for Actions on the right hand side of the screen, pick Set Game Strategy and then on that screen choose the drop-down menu next to Force Start/Use at Position.

Now I play as GM and manager so I'm not entirely sure, but I believe depending upon who your manager is they might have the power to ignore this command from you. But generally speaking this is how you do what you are trying to do.

You are very welcome. I'm glad that things are starting to click for you.
I really do think part of the adventure is just learning the nuances of the game itself (OOTP) and the more that becomes second nature the more you actually also learn about the game of baseball.
As a life-long fan of baseball and someone who reads about the game extensively and considers himself a student of the game, I was amazed at how much more I learned about baseball and how differently I look at everything (particularly things like roster management, player development, etc.) since I started playing OOTP. Of course I still have so much to learn about both OOTP and baseball but playing this game has certainly expanded my baseball knowledge and perspectives greatly and continues to do so.

I would echo what Birdwatcher said, and you can see I am way behind in terms of experience playing the game. I started with OOTP 21 and, like you, was overwhelmed at first. I am hoping you have time to explore the many, many features one at a time as you play. Going on two years in, and hundreds of games in multiple seasons, I still delight in finding new tweaks and learning more about strategy. These forums are a wealth of information and opinions on how to play. Remember though that there is no one “right” way to approach OOTP. The plethora of choices means that each person can fully customize their approach. I’ve settled into my particular way to play, borrowing heavily from others, and with lots of “trial and error”. Enjoy!!
