Talking De-cluttering the Screen?

Hi All,

As a totally blind player who uses OCR to keep track of the game, one of the issues I run into is screen clutter. In particular, some screens like the roster view are quite busy, with multiple player lists which the OCR mashes together into an unreadable mess.

I know I can probably de-clutter this somehow, but I’m not sure how todo so. Ideally I would have only one view displayed at a time.

If anyone knows how to go about doing this I’d appreciate advice. It’s far less helpful than one might imagine.

THanks much in advance.

assume you're talking about all the little widget views that can cover the screen if you have them all active (like the first attached screenshot). If you want to get rid of those, on the upper-right side of the screen, just below the "home team substitutions" button are a series of icons. Each one of those control whether a widget is hidden or viewable (from left to right: visiting team lineup; home team lineup; visiting team batter/pitcher; home team batter/pitcher; team info; pitch location; defensive positioning; out of town scores; weather and ballpark info)

if you turn them all off, you'll get a screen that looks like the second attachment. You can also click on the "view" button in the upper-right, and check off "hide widgets during game action" (if you've left any of them showing on screen); and "hide top area during game action" (if you want to hide the scoreboard/play-by-play box/etc)

next, you can click on the "options" button (to the left of "view") and select 'game options'. On the next screen, you can change "player photos" to "no, just info" which will remove the on-field player photos; and for "player labels" select "small labels" (which will reduce the size of the player names at their positions. That will give you the third attachment.

Hey,

I was actually talking about the roster view, but I appreciate the info about the play-by-play widgets anyhow.

I’ve concluded that it isn’t possible to make the roster view behave quite the way I want, so I’ll probably just use other screens instead. It’s easy to deal with visually but causes fits with my screen reader. Plus, drag and drop is harder than I’d like.

Which “roster view”? I believe there’s a view that’s nothing but the players; I rarely use it but then I’m not in your situation. The transactions screen and the pitching / lineups screens are necessarily busy; the former because you need to have one screen where you can review everyone in your organization and the latter because, well, their purpose is to set lineups and pitching up. There’s only small amounts of customization on those - you can set specific views with specific stats and ratings (I have a wide screen monitor but also prefer to play in the dark about most ratings so mine show a lot of statistics, morale info, and so on) and on the transactions screen you can sort of set which particular roster bucket shows up where.

There’s no ability to actually set up widgets the way you can on the team home screen, unfortunately. Perhaps that will be something that gets added in the future…
