Need Help To Set General Game Settings When You Want To Play Out A Game

I searched the game manual... I could not find anything in it about adjusting 3D camera views and game settings for this screen.
This is the first screen that comes up when you want to play out a game.
It concerns General Game Options.

I just got a new computer with a very good processor and good graphics card, so I want to get the most out it, whenever I can.

I want to fine tune my settings.
Need your help and advice on game settings when you play out a game using 3D animation.

I realize 10 guys will play this game 10 different ways... I just want to know what works well for you... I will try your settings... if they please me, I will use them... naturally, I will use the settings that best appeal to me.

You can see my game settings on the screenshots... they work OK, but for many options I have no idea of what they mean and what the settings should be... it would help me if you would explain what each option does.

If I am asking for too much help, please tell me and I will discontinue this help request.

Can you tell me what the settings YOU USE for the Viewing Options and Camera Options?
I did not like the default settings in the game, so I began a trial-and-error procedure to see what happened... my current settings are very enjoyable, but I think they would be better if I had more knowledge about how to adjust the various options.

Viewing Options:

Player Labels Color
Show Field Header (what is the field header?)
During Autoplay:
Delay Before AB
Delay Before Pitch
Delay Between Action Plays
Delay Between Routine Plays

Camera Options:

Initial View
Pitch View
Action View
Allow Dynamic Action Cameras
3D Animation Speed
Show Starting Pan
Follow Ball
Depth of Field Mode
Dynamic Zoom
Camera Movement Delay
Camera Transition Time
Camera Movement Speed
Zoom Factor

Viewing Options:

Player Labels Color - uses the team colour for the player labels on the field if selected, otherwise a default colur.

Show Field Header (what is the field header?)

During Autoplay: -
Delay Before AB - if you just sit back and let the game play, that is the amount of delay time before the AB
Delay Before Pitch - same as above - delay before pitch
Delay Between Action Plays - same as above - delay between plays
Delay Between Routine Plays - same as above - delay between plays

Camera Options:

Initial View - initial view at start of AB
Pitch View - View when pitcher pitches
Action View - view while ball is in play
Allow Dynamic Action Cameras - dynamic camera is self explanatory
3D Animation Speed - if your players appear to be moving too slow, set this faster, and same the other way around. If they appear too fast, slow them down a bit
Show Starting Pan - the camera will pan a round the park at the beginning of the game - it's just eye candy
Follow Ball - camera will attempt to follow the ball when it's in play
Depth of Field Mode - self explanatory
Dynamic Zoom - how much the dynamic camera will zoom when following the ball
Camera Movement Delay - delay in time befoe the camera starts moving
Camera Transition Time - self explanatory - it transitions from play to play - you set how quickly
Camera Movement Speed - self explanatory
Zoom Factor - how much zoom you want when following the play

Hope this helps

I highly recommend you play around with these settings during a game until you find what you like.

During a game, when there is a pause in play, just select the "Options Menu" (top right) and then "Game Options" (first choice in menu). This will take you back to the pregame screen and you can adjust things and go back to the game. Rinse, lather, repeat.

If you want to adjust the player size, you should do this from the game setup screen on the initial game loading screen.

Questions?

Yep, it helps... thanks for helping me... you made me a little smarter game-wise.

What is the field header?... I check both yes and no and see no change on my game screen... I figure something would be missing if I said no.

I play out my game in the one-pitch mode... so I don't need Autoplay settings.

I have tried all kinds of changes, mainly in camera views... I often replay the same play from different camera settings... that is how I got my game settings.

I was just hoping the experienced gamers had their setting down pat and would share them with me.

I don't like the dynamic camera movement and zooming... too often the screen changes are too drastic and you lose the ball... I like to see the entire play from screen to screen... that's why I use Wide View for the start, HP for the second view and Wide Screen for the Action View... so I turned it off the Dynamic Action Camera... maybe there are some good settings that would make it seem like watching a game on TV... hopefully someone who uses the dynamic camera would share their settings... I would like to follow the whole play and not lose sight of the ball.

If any of you are pleased with your camera views and settings and the flow of the game 3D animation, please share them with a screenshot.

Still using those settings. The cameras that come with the game now are the ones I created and linked in that thread. Matt added them at some point in the patch cycle.

I don't think you'll find a good "tv view", too many quirks in the dynamic camera. I'm hoping this sees a major improvement for v23.

One thing you could try is to make sure only the wide angle cameras you like are enabled for dynamic access. IOW disable any camera that doesn't have full view of the field, turn off zoom, and try dynamic again with this configuration. This is something that may not seem to jerky in transition and not let the ball get out of view? It is something I have considered but, even with it's limitations, I still like the variable zooms and camera angles. If I miss something I can always go to replay.

Like you, I tend to watch replays from many angles. One of my favorites is to use the CF-LF or RF-CF for both the pitch and action camera to replay home runs. It's like sitting in CF and seeing the different types of HRs, IE low line drives, high ones that just make it into the stands, and of course the bombs. With the detailed stadiums, to me, it is quite impressive.

I really appreciate you taking the time to give me such details.

I'm going to use your settings.

EC, the best way to learn about this stuff is to change the settings and see what they do and if you like it. You're not going to break the game by changing this stuff.

Thanks for the advice... I have been doing that, but I just thought you guys would know how to adjust the game settings to get the best results with the 3D animation.

I now have a little better understanding of what each setting does.

Different people think different things are best. Among other things, do you want the constantly changing camera like you're watching on TV or do you want a single camera like you're watching from the stands in person.

I'm not saying advice here is worthless but don't forget that recently you had some guys telling you to spend $1600 on a computer and another guy telling you to spend $200 for a new hard drive on your old one! (Who told you in the first post maybe not to pay attention to him. LOL)

Try things out and have fun.

Thank you for this post, EC. I tried out bluenoser’s settings, and I like them better than what I had been using. What did you end up going with?

I will try each posters settings and then pick which one is best for me.
I will post it here when I decide which to use.

I hope a lot of gamers will share their settings here... the more I get to choose from, the better my animation should be.
