Nope trading does not change during the draft. You still have to wait, unfortunately.

That is absolutely incorrect crusadertsar.

You can make trade offers and receive immediate responses at the Draft. The same thing occurs around the trade deadline as well.

Oh wow, I stand corrected sorry. I made a trade a day or two before the draft and it took forever so I assumed its like that all the time. Guess should have tried it on the day of the draft

Yeah, and it's a really nice feature. Love the instant feedback on deadline day!

In the player profile screen is there any way to adjust the size of the player image shown? I'm using jersey mods and facegen images , but with the default size you
can't see most of the players jersey. Something similar to the thumbnail images on the game preview/review screens would be nice, but a little bigger.

Go to Settings on the start screen, then the Facegen tab. :"Facegen zoom mode" will let you select alternate zoom levels for the player images.

Thanks for that. However it seems I already have it set to the maximum (Zoom out -see more jersey) option, but you can only see the jersey from the armpits upwards. Is there any possibility to add a further zoom out level (e.g. see most of jersey)?

I always wondered when setting up my lines. Do I need to put my best face-off taker in the middle? Or can he play on one of the wings and the computer will automatically set the player with highest Faceoff attribute to take it? Often I like to play Slot Overload tactic whereby I put my biggest screener/thug in the centre (not necessarily good at faceoffs) while my usual faceoff-specialist/playmaker is on the wing.
And if its not automatic, then is there a way to manually set the player who you want to take faceoffs?

I really don't enjoy how when a coach or player retires from your team or minor league team, you get a message that is buried in the 100 other retirements. It would be nice if your teams retirements were a separate news item or 'pop-up' so the user could clearly see what is happening without trying to read through a cluttered inbox.

Yeah, FHM logs faceoff stats to the center (or whoever took the draw if the center got tossed by the ref).

That said, there does seem to be a fairly high degree of randomness in the faceoff calculation. So much so, that even guys who are rated 'faceoff slugs' can still win more draws than you might expect.

The other tactic that is effective in real life AND in-game, is to have two good faceoff men out on the same special teams line. (One center and one winger). If one gets tossed, the winger does go in and take his place. This can be a real advantage, particularly if the opposing center was also kicked out of the circle.

Not at the moment, if I remember correctly there are some issues with the player model if we go farther out (I think the arms hang oddly.) We have some other problems with facegen that need to be dealt with, so if we can get some assistance from the OOTP 3D guys, we may make some changes in FHM9.

Oh thats too bad I guess I will need to rework my strategy a little. I tend to stick guys like Marcus Foligno in the centre. He has bad facoffs attribute (measly 9) but his superior strength and screening is just what need to fill the slot and help my shooters score. I still have at least one face-off specialist on the line but they tend to go on the wing. So hopefully they still participate if the slug gets tossed by the ref. Thanks for the reply!

When I look at another team's tactics by clicking on the team and going to the Tactics tab, are these really the tactics that the team is using? I can't scroll down so I am wondering if the values shown are true or not.

As far as I've seen, they do seem to be true. I do the same thing you just did, then I watch the game carefully in 2D, and the opposition does appear to play according to the style dictated by their global sliders.

CHL Import Draft question:

Can a player on a junior contract in Europe break that contract and join a CHL team? I'm seeing more long-term amateur contracts in Europe than I saw while playing EHM. I'm wondering if the CHL honors those, or if it treats them the same as contracts for lower junior leagues in North America.

Yes. The junior-aged players can sign with a WHL/QMJHL/OHL team regardless of their contract in any league except the NHL and affiliated leagues.

Hello everyone,
Thank you for lettings me join this forum. I am a old school hockey fan. I was a kid in the 80's. I really enjoyed the offense era of the 80's. Players like Lemieux and Gretzky putting up 150 to 200 point seasons. Each team had a guy or two around a point a game, Even a few defensemen in the NHL could avg. a point a game. By the year 2000 the NHL became so defense I lost interest.

Here is my questions to the board....
1. Is there a way to adjust the settings or sliders so when the cpu plays the cpu. The game will simulate at a higher offenses out put? In todays NHL the avg goals per game from both teams is 5.5 I want to get this to 7.5 per game. At 7.5 goals per game between both teams. The stats will mimic the offense era of the 1980's.

2. Is there a way in the league settings. to go back to the old school point system? For example, 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a lose. I want to do away with the free point just for going to overtime. Also do away with the shoot out and all the creasy things added in the last 20 years?

Thank you for your help.
