Yes. First go into Manager -> Options and make sure commissioner mode is enabled.

From there click on your league drop-down menu, (should say 'NHL' up near the top), then click on 'edit'. Now look for the 'Goals/Game' setting. The default is 5.94, but you can easily set it to 7.5 (or what have you) and have fun simulating the high flying 80's!

Once again yes. When you start a new game, make sure you select start on July 1st. The go to Manager -> Options and make sure commissioner mode is enabled.

Then click the league drop-down menu and edit (just like in the previous answer). From there click the rules tab and look under' 'Game Rules'. All the settings you're looking for are right there.

I really like the new cards. Is there as way to create those from the roster screen like you can in OOTP? Or is there another way to create them other then pre/post game and the ones the game automatically creates?

I understand they are moddable. My question how do you see them outside the game screen? Can I go to my roster screen and somehow create/see the card for that player? I haven't been able to find that option, like i did in OOTP/

I've just noticed that 4 games into the season Stamkos and McDonagh have randomly retired. Stamkos had 10 points his first 4 games and is still a 3.5* player also. There was no news notification or anything, is this Tampa's way of LTIRing them or is it a bug? Weirdly enough Tampa also just waived Hedman who put up 67 points the year prior and is also still a 3.5* player. I'm thinking it could all be cap related but it all seems strange.

I don't think there's a way to show them up other than the game screen or while simming. Unfortunately.

Would love to be able to see them somewhere else, too. It's pretty annoying over time when creating/modding cards.
Restarting FHM, going to play a game, kill the process (that's what I do), launch FHM again, going to play a game again, all that over and over. Just to check how a tiny adjustment on the card looks, that's painful

That sucks. You can create them anytime in OOTP, which is made by same company. So odd. LOL

Hopefully I did this right lol

Hi, I just joined because I want to learn a couple of things

I can't drag any of my players to any lines, I have used left-click drag, right-click drag, and even both at the same time. I know about the box you can click, but I know that by dragging the whole lines would go faster

Also, is there a way to search for players with special abilites? I want to create a couple of players with them but I don't know where to look.

Also, a way to add them to existing players would be really nice

Which folder do you have to edit to do custom cards? There's one in the saved game file, and yet another one in the graphics folder of said game.

Unfortunately no. Or at least none that I know of. On the bright side, they are working on adding the means to edit special abilities in the GUI. Hopefully coming in the February patch!

It's the one in the graphics folder of the save game. So if you're playing a current season it would be: [SAVE GAME NAME].lg\graphics\cards\modern

Do you have to run a custom game to start with a complete redraft of all the players?

I want to start the game with a new draft but keep all the AHL, ECHL and CHL leagues all intact as irl.

How might I do that?

Just add the NHL + AHL + CHL and don't click any other options. The ECHL isn't in by default though.

I keep getting "Didn't Stay In His Assigned Role", but the roles the players pick seem to be random. I've had a player who chose to be a Shadow, so I let him be a Shadow by changing his role outside of that game, but the very next game he didn't stay in that role either and became a Two-Way Forward. Neither of these roles are the ones with the highest numeric value.

Is there any way I can interpret which roles my players are going to choose? Does the hidden Coachability stat affect whether the player will revert to another role? Do any other hidden stats affect this? Just looking for some clarity.

It seems to be space left over on the dressed list, I can move it very very slightly to the left and right. It might be that. I have changed resolution multiple times. No clue otherwise

Also, a general question.

How do you know if a player it good? I come from FM so seeing so many players with 16/17/18 are god tier in my mind which makes it very evalulate players.

The star system serves as a helpful summary. It works on a scale of half-a-star to five stars, with the general motto of the higher the better. The first set of stars represents the players current ability, while the second set is all about potential (or if all goes well - future ability).
