I had Beard somewhere but now I can't find the damn thing. Sigh. It's probably in the same place as my Orioles Paul Mirabella.

Took this one myself that September. Here, the blue is correct: the New York pre-game shirts of that era (they were introduced in midseason, 1980) were a different color than the caps, undershirts, and pinstripes.
Lovely, thanks for posting.

Hi,

Could anybody tell me which zip ID (KA, GZ, etc.) that Bob Miller's photos are in when he played for the Pirates, Mets, & Twins?

Thanks,

I'm thinking Whitey Lockman for the colored one. Not sure on the others.

Clise Dudley 1929 UIN

Dudley pitched a 1/3 of an inning in 1933 trying to convince the Pirates his arm wasn't burned out. He was not successful. This image of him was printed in the 9/16/1933 edition of the Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph.

I thought someone posted a Tigers image of Harrington but he is still listed on Pegasus' UIN list so here he is. The photo was printed on 6/28/1925 edition of the Detroit Free Press.

Bill C. Moore 1925 UIN

Moore pitched for the Tigers in one game and did not record an out. I'm rather surprised to see him on the UIN list as he was hyped during Spring Training quite a bit in Detroit that year and there are numerous pictures of him throughout the papers. Anyhow, this was the best one of Moore, which was printed on 9/6/1925 in the Detroit Free Press.

I finally found the 1974 Bob Miller with the Mets...someone had posted it back when Merkle was sending the vault zips. They had him named in with the one KD part and I must've missed the KD211-296 which the Met Miller was 238. I was wondering if someone could send me those photos in KD through a private message. I'd REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks a million guys!

BRobby05

PS: I know it's posted twice but I wanted to give specifics that I found posted back around 2017...that's all.

Mike Ryan 1895

It appears that the BR and Facepack image used for Ryan comes from the Sporting News. Research done by SABR has shown that Ryan played in the Southern League for awhile, though BR doesn't show any minor league statistics for him. There is, however, a Mike J. Ryan that played around the same time and was a starter for Chattanooga in 1892 and 1893. I'm curious if this is the same guy, though major league Ryan played at 3B and minor league Ryan was at 1B. I've attached the BR image, a cabinet photo taken from the Atlanta Constitution that depicted the 1892 Chattanooga team, and a woodcut from 5/13/1892 in the Chattanooga Daily Times. To my eye these look nearly identical.

Mike Ryan made his debut on July 25, 1895. The St. Louis Globe-Democrat wrote the next day "Denny Lyons' sore knee went back on him, and he was replaced by a Carondelet amateur - Ryan by name - in the eighth inning. Mr. Ryan has a large local following, who were out to see him perform. He had nothing to do, and he did it well. He is a good looker, and comes well recommended." The St. Louis Post-Dispatch described him as "another St. Louis boy" on July 26 and "the South St. Louis amateur" on July 27. (Carondelet Park is in south St. Louis city.)

Ryan played one more game, on July 27. The PD summed it up. "Ryan was let out. His unsuccessful attempt, if attempt it could be called, to stop Shindle's easy grounder in the third was the cause."

Doesn't sound to me like a person who played for many year in the minors, as Mike Ryan (ryan--001mik) with Chattanooga in 1892 and 1893 is credited with doing.
