Thanks for the tip. So, if I remove the 1893-1919 from this database snippet, for example, you're thinking it will use my renamed/fielder adjusted field for the upcoming season:

1913,NL,SLN,STL,St. Louis Cardinals,Robison Field 1893-1919,

The game checks that file I believe the day after the world series ends. if you are changing the park, name, you also need to have a new .prk file generated with that name and copy it to the data/ballparks directory to be imported correctly.

If you do that part right, you should be able to use the auto-import park option in the park editor screen

There are a few moving parts that have to be in order for it to work. Unfortunately, if you are going the route of removing the years from the park names, you are creating a lot of work to get them imported year to year

The only reason I remove the years from the Ballpark Name is because otherwise you'll see things like 'Welcome to Robison Field (1893-1919). Today's weather is hot as ****....' Not wanting to see those years in parentheses is a personal quirk. Is there another spot I can change what is displayed throughout OOTP without it affecting the .prk file? The real issue, though, is that I'm obsessive-compulsive enough that seeing the ballplayers on the field nowhere near their positions makes my eye twitch. I literally can't play out a game without having to fix it, so I'm just trying to save myself some agita for each new season, though I guess I can do it once per park I see each season instead of making things overly complicated. I'm in no real hurry to start exporting, importing, changing text files, etc., and I definitely do not want to play without your parks!

Unfortunately there is no way for the game to not use the years in my filenames. I put a request to add a new field to that txt file, but we will see how that goes. The years are absolutely essential for me to keep track of the parks, but I understand what you are saying when playing in-game

I appreciate your feedback and explanations. When all is said and done it ends up sounding like a lot more work to modify existing file than to just take the 15-20 minutes post-World Series to update the field names and on-field positioning for the the fields I will see in-game. Thanks again for your knowledge and hard work.

I removed the years in the team setting section manually before each new season...

Maybe I should try it there. I was always doing it through the 3D Editing.

[EDIT]: Honestly, I never even noticed that was there.

You can also remove the years after the park name for each park for your league in the Park Profile tab in Edit Ballparks.

I just have to ask… what would poses the Orioles to make this change? It was fine the way it was.

I always thought that it was way too easy to hit home runs to left field at Camden. Maybe they did it to try to attract better pitchers to sign with them?

It’s funny, because in 1989, if my memory serves, when they broke ground on camden yards, they were doing wind tunnel tests to see how the ball would fly. Based on the tests results and based on his survey of the area, Frank Robinson himself (The manager of the Orioles at the time) said it was shaping up to be more of a doubles ballpark. Many fans were concerned about this, but Robinson said he thought it was a good thing, so they were planning it with that in mind. And without digging up the stats, I do remember it being more of a doubles park during the initial few years. (Although, correct me if I’m wrong)

And then… The players started eating performance-enhancing drugs for breakfast, the ball got juicier, and all of a sudden it became a launching pad. The trend continued when baseball became a sabr-metric launch angle, all or nothing home run derby.

Astrodome '67

Hi all

Just starting 67 replay; have astrodome listed as 65-94 as stadium- it has natural grass, though...is there a version of the old astrodome, with the turf?

I may have missed it...

Thanks
Swede

I originally had both as AstroTurf. Then someone asked about the natural grass. At the time I didn’t feel like managing a whole different model because of just playing surface. Maybe I’ll add another for OOTP23
