Tanking check a step too late
After ten months of trying for the best roster, I converted my Gotham team to a Batman theme - Bruces, Waynes, Robins, and anyone with an appropriate nickname. I had to do it in steps over time to avoid the tanking prevention check, which is fine. I understand the purpose.
Where I've been stuck for several weeks/seasons is the tanking check preventing me from changing the roles of my pitching staff, getting the "Please activate better players..." message. The check did not prevent me from deactivating better pitchers in favor of themed ones on Roster Management, but it does prevent submitting the team if I do anything on Edit Pitching Staff - fill the vacant rotation spots, shift from 4-man to 5-man, change bullpen roles. (I have been able to auto assign lineups/depth and deactivate from the Reserve Roster.) The tanking prevention check is actually causing my team to perform worse. It seems the check should happen on roster changes, not changing team roles - especially when I'm not seeking suboptimal roles. Even Ask Bench Coach for staff is prevented.
Perhaps there are good reasons to check team roles, but maybe in OOTP23 could the roles tanking check be reset if the roster hasn't changed over a long time? Or ease it up when the team has been relegated to a level where it's competitive?
All of the above is with the Windows 10 version. The behavior is a little different with OOTPGo - I am able to change the rotation size, but cannot submit the team when putting pitchers into the rotation. Jumping back to the desktop, it looks like pitching roles were auto-assigned. Sort of a workaround, I guess.
