Pitching potential ratings aren't correctly listed

I know this was discussed back in 2017 and it was mentioned improvement was made but have been noticing many of the pitchers in the past 40+ seasons I have done seem to have incorrect potential ratings listed. This especially happens after a trade. I uploaded an example. The pitcher is marked as a starting pitcher by the game but the scouting report and current list him as bullpen. The player was originally listed as a reliever with a potential rating of 63 but the game lists him as a starter with a potential rating of 44. If I look at the scouting report it still lists him as a 61 currently. The problem is he'll still be listed as a 44 potential rating three seasons later even though he should be a 61-63. Just look at his stuff, movement, and control and you can see that this is not a 44 potential pitcher. If I change the pitcher to reliever in the editor, the game will change him back to a starter, he's not a starter. Hitting ratings are fine but pitchers are still jacked up for practically 90% or more of the pitchers in my game. I have to look at the scouting ratings for any trade involving a pitcher since the potential ratings are completely unreliable.

I noticed the same thing with one of my AAA pitchers yesterday. After seeing your post, I’m going to check to see if this has occurred to any others pitchers in my game.

The scouting report is listing him as a 61 for RP. He drops so much when put in as an SP because he only has two pitches with a really weak third one.

Thanks Luckyman, that explains the ratings. I guess my only concern now is that if a pitcher is listed as a starter by the game, and that's what the potential rating is coming from, then why isn't he being scouted as a starter? That's where there is no consistency. His most recent seasons had him pitching as a starter but the game kept scouting him as a reliever. The game should be scouting him based on his current usage if that's where the potential ratings are coming from.....this was a minor league pitcher that I didn't control, so the game kept using him as a starter even though it's clear he never should have been used as a starter and the minor league team he was on had plenty of better starters than him

You'll probably find that's because your club at that level was short on starters and he was their best option as a swing man. But I agree, it's very confusing.

Not sure if you knew this or want to go this way, but if you'd prefer him to be used only as an RP, you can go into his strategy and lock him there.

Easy. Fire them and don't hire a replacement. Saves you some $$ into the bargain.
