Game crashing when loading games
I've been having issues with the game crashing every time I load a game. I've tried saving a few places along the way or saving as new files, but now none of them seem to be loading. For a while it was freezing on "Loading league", now it sometimes tells me the database is invalid or it gets to "Finishing loading" and then it crashes.
Running it through Steam, if that makes a difference. |

Sounds like the saves may be getting corrupted, but I'd need to see one of them to be sure. Could you upload it (instructions here) and I'll take a look?

I should say it looks like a lot of the files are 0kb, which can't be a good thing, but that's how they seem to be saving...

Oh yeah, that's badly corrupted, a little more than half of the files are empty. You can check your rolling save backups (in the rs_one and rs_two subfolders of the main save folder) to see if they're still intact, but if this is happening often, I suspect not.
First thing to do will be to reinstall the game (if you're not playing the Steam version) or, if you're on Steam, verify the files (right-click on the game in your library, select Properties, then Local Files, and "Verify Integrity of Game Files") - that'll ensure that there isn't something broken in the installation that's causing this. It's not the most likely cause, but it should be checked just to be sure. Assuming that isn't it, I'd suspect a system problem next - the most likely causes are being short on disk space or, more likely, interruption while saving to a cloud service. The latter commonly happens if you have Microsoft OneDrive set to act as your default Documents folder location. Since that's where the saves are, an internet connection hiccup while saving to the cloud will break the whole save. If that's the case, it'll look a lot like what you're seeing - the save broken halfway through with some files not rewritten yet. |

Thanks so much. Looks like it must have been a disk space issue. Didn't realize I was running it so close to full.
Thanks for taking the time to help - I really appreciate it! |
