Hi everyone.

FHM 8 is the first game of the series that I have played though a lot of experience with games like Football Manager.

The main area i struggle with is working out how much money a player is worth as I am still learning what stats are good to use to work this out. But is there a stat that can be used to give an estimate of a players value? For example with ootp I found that WAR could be used to give a guide fir what a player was worth which has helped me learn salary in baseball. Is there something similar that I could use in ice hockey to identify a players value to help me get used to those contracts

I'm not sure it translates quite the way you're looking for, but I find GR, (or Game Rating) is a pretty useful indicator of how valuable any given player is to his team. Keeping in mind that 50 is neutral, I'd break it down something like this:

50-54: An okay-ish 4th line player
55-59: A decent 4th liner
60-64: Third line material
65-69: Upper third, possibly low second
70-74: Definite second, possibly low first
75-79: First all the way
80+: Break out the bank
