This Could Take a While...
Aaahhh, the joys of the new save transaction bugs...
![]() On a slight sidebar, and I could well be completely imagining this, it seems that the human player rating carries more cachet than I thought. Has anyone else noticed how, as your rating improves, the other participants in the game try and get away with less. No complaints about game time / usage, transactions happen more smoothly - that sort of thing. Anyone else seen this? G

I get these ridiculous demands all of the time. In one of my sims, I find I need to sign fringe free agents to populate the lower minors. These are guys that have not had a whiff of the major leagues, and probably never will (with low TCR). Yet they seem to think they are entitled to a major league contract. More even than the added money, I cannot afford them on the 40-man roster. Sometimes I do nothing, and they sign. Or, for true prospects, I have found that even a small bonus (relative to the time frame of the sim) may make the difference. But I’m tempted to go into the editor and simply assign them to the minor league teams.
Not sure what you are asking with the “human player rating” factor. If I understand, I have not noticed that change, but now will look for it. |

With you now. I think you are right - and that increase in respect with a better manager rating makes good sense. I have an unfortunate tendency to start various sims and then not stay with them, so I don’t have much long-term experience with improved ratings. But as a perpetual rookie manager and GM, well that explains the lack of respect and messing with me. Respect has to be earned. OOTP and IRL.

I am sorry but this kind of thing should not be happening in version 23. I don't want to brow beat, but there are just so many of these loose ends all over the game. Are they game breaking? Probably not...are they sloppy? Definitely.

In my experience, the problem here is with the message, not the behavior.
When I've seen this message that luckymann is posting, it is usually a fringe player who could reasonably choose to wait for a deal with a major league option or an offer from the international/independent leagues. If this player goes unsigned for a while, he will probably end up accepting the minor league contract. |

But yes, that should be more clearly indicated in the wording of these messages.

Do player demands change when you change the usage of ratings weight?
For instance, if you have your league set to 50 ratings weight, 30 current year weight, 15 previous year...etc versus 0 ratings weight, 60 current, 30 prev, 10 two year ago |

When I see this response, I usually will just shoot them some cash to convince them.

He ended up signing for an MiLB option deal. The point I made about low human manager rating is perhaps valid here as it is a brand new save. These "bugs" seem to work themselves out for the most part after a while and, while somewhat annoying, are a bit of fun as well. Though, not if it involves a key acquisition!
