Historical -Drafted players are becoming free agents a year later

I did a 2005 and a 1977 league yesterday and in both cases players I drafted disappeared from my unsigned list a year later. This was a least a year before the "sign by" date. They were moved to an independent team with no NHL rights.

I've often found over the years of playing FHM historical that dates are just wrong. Often when I've traded for draft picks, the next draft comes and suddenly my trades aren't there. They've been delayed a year.

With 1977, I think that may be an issue with the sign-by date getting misreported because of the minimum draft age being 20, I'll see if we can adjust that. The movement to an independent team isn't directly related to that, it's happening because they're unsigned when they become too old for a junior league. When I look at a 2005 start, though, I can't find any examples of that happening. With the players you saw it happen to, what leagues were they in when you drafted them, and were they 18 or 19 when drafted?

The 2005 league was a random debut. I often start with the first salary cap season. My NHL team drafted players in 2006 and July 1, 2007 they were free agents despite it previously saying I had 2 or 3 years to sign them.

I don't think this happened in FHM7 but I could be wrong.
