Rooting for the Philthies is awkward.

Well, now it's head-to-head, starting tonight. Five games (5! — one of them must be a rainout makeup) with the Barves, as I believe you call them. This may sort the men from the boys. Or, it could be pretty much status quo when they leave town. Above all, you don't want to lose 4 out of 5 to them, say. I'm going to squeeze in some Mets viewing this weekend!

Gary Cohen just pointed out that these teams play each other nine times in the next 15 days!

Mets take the first game when Orlando Arcia, as the tying run, pokes at a 3-0 pitch, checks, but ticks the ball into play hard enough for Boom-Boom Diaz to make the final out, 1-U.

Mets 6, Barves 4.

Boom-Boom went two full innings though, so he's not available for today, much to Taijuan Walker's chagrin between innings.

Hasn't it always been a homer at Citi if the ball hits on the orange line? When did we change that?

Gotta go over since the demise of the Great Wall of Flushing I think.

I never thought Skypointer would pitch this well again, and it's not going to last if he's pitched this much. Buck knows what he's got on the bench.

Nice sweep by the Mets today. It guarantees a series win.

So, pitch every day now? I like riding the hot hand especially against the Barves but the rest of the bullpen better be logging some time against the Reds.

And I'm glad Jake suddenly ran out of gas, avoided all the controversy that would have followed pulling him from a perfect game!

Four of five from the Barves, which means they get at least swept in Atlanta next week.

No, I am NEVER confident. Expect AT LEAST the worst!

A single by Swansby Danson would have been enough.

When the Mets win the championship someday, and they are hoisting the trophy, you will be saying, "I bet one of them drops it on his toe and he's out until June next season."

Well, one patented Mets way to give away a pennant is to lose to the bad teams... trap avoided! And I can't remember the last time I saw the non-Mets team in a Mets game lose 2 players to injury.

It appears like the Mets are discovering Nimmo, heh. I happened to see a portion of the game yesterday at bad bunny merch, and it was funny to see him circle the bases and walk into the dugout after hitting the game-tying home run. A genuine smile of happiness, with which I would imagine the Brewers would have no issues.

Well, that was an annoying loss.

- Crapple TV+ rather than Gary, Ron, and Keith
- two Mets stretchered off by the third inning
- Philthies hit duck snort single after duck snort single
- Mets didn't hit ******* much of anything
- Mets can't even lose in regulation

Highlights? Vogelbach rumbling second to third for no greater good in the bottom 10th.

Oh yeah. That muppet play-by-play said something like it's good that Vogelbach's running, because he looks like he can lose some? - Hey! Dimwit! He might be a fatty, but he's OUR fatty!!

You left out: 3B Mark Canha. Who was fine, but I clearly had lost track of how thin they are in the IF now. Howie speculated they might call up Vientos but I think that's all it was. And I dunno who's around at SYR that won't require DFAing someone else on the roster :/

4-man bench, man. 4-man bench. And too many 1B types on the roster. I wouldn't have added Darin Ruf to begin with. I wasn't fond of J.D. Davis' skill set either, but he had at least XP at wobbling around the hot corner. Ruf has played one inning at 3B in the majors, in 2014, probably in circumstances similar to what got Canha there today.

Actually, I looked that up. It was more of a harrumph appearance on August 2, 2014. Phillies were losing 11-0 to the Gnats in the eighth and Ruf and Andres Blanco replaced Jimmy Rollins and Chase Ugly in "whatever!" fashion. Ruf was the third third baseman for Philly that day, following Cody Asche and Reid Brignac. Ruf handled a grounder by Asdrubal Cabrera for an out in his only chance at 3B.

There's some names you haven't had screamed at you in highlights for a long time.

If Mets infielders keep getting hurt like this, Mark Canha better buy a third baseman's glove on the way to the airport....

...although, as we heard yesterday, Pete also instantly volunteered to play third base
