What new features do you want to see in FHM9? - Page 10

Easier, more modern way to play and setup multiplayer. Most of my friends that are into hockey wont play this because all the save data hustle. It feels clumsy.

Three things that would be great,

1. ability to play 2D graphic engine as a player (or players) with a joystick, like NHL 95 (the graphics and AI are already in place)
1(b) option for vertical scrolling of rink.

2. Historical game for any non-NHL league.

3. option for 360 degree rotating 3D player portraits so you could see players name on jersey as well as players face.

Fingers crossed for a reworking of the goalie system, the back up getting more games then the starter has plagued the last few versions.

If it's fixed, then I'm really excited for FHM9.

I'd love some improvements like a fresh set of news items/messages for the inbox as these are currently limited and in the end become tiresome to see the same ones repeat over and over.

I'd also like it if the game kind of 'told' me what it wanted me to care about more....for instance the transition from the regular season to the post season felt non existent in FHM8, for someone who was new to hockey when picking up this version it just didn't help build that 'race for the postseason' type feel you get with other sports game. News items about other teams fixtures in the run in, your teams chances, building hype etc will all help with that. Once in the playoffs it would be great if the default screen that the game returned to was the playoff tree screen too (I always hate to say like OOTP but yeah, like OOTP) as it just keeps you focussed on that.

More info about guys performances through each playoff series, stats updates etc just to give a bit more flavour to each matchup and help stop the constant 'sim to next day' just to try and get through everything.

Then the others are more obvious like improvements and adjustments to the trade engine and presentation so it feels more interactive, the static system of shop player, receive message etc just doesnt feel very modern in terms of how real GM's interact during trade negotiations, I'd love to be able to get feedback in real time on deal adjustments etc as opposed to working something out and getting the 'NO WAY!!!' message again.

Tactics....this is another thing, does this matter? Does the game want me to care about it at all? Does it make any difference? Even when I've watched the official streams it's barely acknowledged outside of the start of the season. I think I'd made some older posts about things like providing roster information on the tactics screen, so for instance if I'm looking at a certain play style in a certain phase of the game..the question of "Is it suitable for my players?" can be answered by a quick glance to the left of the screen where the average attribute for my players in each relevant category is displayed, then I can build a tactic that better suits my team and hopefully that may help me win. As I say though, I'm not sure if the game wants me to care about tactics at all and in turn, if it then matters or not anyway.

I have really enjoyed getting into this game, it was my first foray into FHM and I was only just getting into Hockey at the same time so it was a great companion piece, I've played over 300 hours of this version however this was all in a binge between it's release and then about March as eventually I did find it difficult to continue with some saves due to these things I've mentioned above.

I can't wait to hear what is planned for FHM9 (hopefully tonight) and look forward to purchasing it!

It does, but not as much as many people might like. I've played extensive 2D games and the in-game tactical adjustments are capable of effecting outcomes... Sometimes, but not always.

And I suppose that then makes me wonder, is that reflective of Hockey IRL? I'm not an expert or even a experienced intermediate with Hockey tactics so I cannot say but for a screen with a lot of options you'd hope that it would be worth investing our time in if you're looking to stack the micro benefits that would come from so many modifiers

Tactics can mean EVERYTHING in hockey. Look up the 95-96 Panthers or 93-94 Sharks if you need prime examples.

The ability to either have RHI in historical replay OR be able to recreate it in a given game type. Maybe this is too deep a cut for most users but I’d get a kick out of it.

Hopefully this would be included in FH9.

We can watch and strategize with the NHL team during a live game. Make this also happen with your AHL and ECHL affiliates.

Trade counter offers like people said. What can I offer to make the deal happen.

Fix the high scoring during Live game watching.

This will be taken care of when leagues are run from a central server (like perfect team). I assumed that was what was coming this month. Why else were they asking for achievement ideas?

Now I don't really like perfect team because everyone in a league has the same players which is anything but fun. It's a waste of a powerful system they've created. You need to draft and trade against other human managers or you are not really competing in a sports sim. Also, it wouldn't fit their boring card buying, spend-real-money-to-win racket to do it right. Even though they would make more money charging per league.

But it's a start. I'll take it for hockey!
