How to keep Ohtani in as DH when bringing in a reliever

I can't figure this out. I start Ohtani as pitcher and DH. I bring in a reliever for him and the reliever takes his spot in the batting order. How do you keep Ohtani in as DH when bringing in a reliever for him?

I have allow two way players and the Ohtani rule enabled in the game settings and I have Ohtani set as a two way player on his strategy page.

Maybe a dev can provide an answer. It seems no one else knows the answer.

You could also try using the Search function, as this has been asked and answered several times this year.

Un-tick "Skip DH when pitching" on Ohtani's player strategy page if you want there to be a DH, then have him be the DH if you want him to be that DH.

I did do a search and I do have Skip DH when pitching unchecked and my lineup looks like the bottom pic on the day he pitches.

On days he pitches the in game substitution page sometimes shows him as a P in the batting lineup and sometimes it shows nothing in his DH spot.

When you go into your pregame screen select the Lineup and Starting Pitcher tab.

Replace Ohtani in the pitching section with another pitcher.

Drag Ohtani on the batter lineup part of the page into his batting spot in the lineup. Set him as DH.

Drag Ohtani in the pitcher section back into the starting pitcher slot.

The above does not always work. If it fails, do this.

Cancel the game.

Go to "Pitching" tab. Change the days starting pitcher to someone other than Ohtani.

Go to the pregame screen.

Select Lineup and Starting Pitcher tab.

Drag Ohtani from the Pitchers section to the starting pitcher slot.

Check your batting lineup and make sure Ohtani is listed.

I'm fairly certain if you sim games the AI does not do this so it is best to set Ohtani to "Skip DH when Pitching" on his strategy page.

It must be hard to program for two-way players. I had a fictional league with a team that had a guy who was an outfielder and was also their best option for a closer. There were situations when he was in center field and was scheduled to bat seventh or something like that in the bottom of the eighth, and in real life they could easily have warmed him up while his teammates batted. It's a thing you see sometimes in college softball and I don't think it's illegal in baseball. But you apparently couldn't do that in the game, and in practice he almost never pitched. (Yeah, I know AI teams don't use the warmup rule, but what I'm saying is it would not have always been unrealistic for this guy to start in the outfield and then close.)
