Is there any way to update the world.dat file?

Hello,

I have an ongoing save where there are several different top-level leagues in North America based on region (One in California, one in New England, one in great lakes, etc.)

I would like to create a new league in the Pacific Northwest, but was unhappy with the default PNW region. I edited the "default_world.txt" file to create a "cascadia" region with the states I desired. This region is able to be used successfully in a new save.I know that "world_default.txt" is only referenced when creating a new game. Is there any way to update world.dat in my current save, so I can create a league with this custom region in that save?

I tried copying the world.dat generated in a new game to the current save. The custom region can successfully be used, but the old leagues are gone (players still there). Is there any way to use this custom region in my current save? Or do I just have to start over.

Thanks for any advice.

Please let me know if there is a better section of the forum to post this question.

Lg Name > Lg Settings > Database > Database Tools > "Re-import World Database..."

Last time I used it it seemed to work fine. You do need to make sure your file has perfect syntax though.

You can also manually add regions in the game via:

Game Menu > Explore World > Regions > Add Region

Be careful of that manual way. Testing it it seemed fine, but when I went back to that world it was corrupted. So whatever you do, always make sure you make backups. It may have just been I left it empty or deleted it, I don't know.
