What all should I set in the game and manager settings to maximize the difficulty of the game. Do I need to consciously avoid making trades and transactions that I know would most likely not happen in real life even if the game allows me to?
I have been playing historical on default settings across the board starting as Detroit in 1926. I went all the way to the 1960s and probably won 70% of the Stanley Cups. My roster is overinflated with the best talent each year and it is generally normal to have between 2-8 losses every 70 game season in the 60s. I do micromanage the team/unit/player tendencies and strategies to a setup the seems to always work. I follow the same setup with my lines based on the roles I assign each player. Any help is appreciated, I just want to make the game as hard as it can be on its own without having to decide myself not to do certain things. Thanks, Surrael |

There is a setting to change the trade difficulty under file then setup/options. Me personally, I don't make trades. I build my teams strictly from waivers, free agency, and the draft.
