Creating a high contact hitter?
I was looking to create a high contact hitter in a fictional league and was curious what are the best places to slot attributes? Am I looking to slot it into BABIP or is that a bit of a waste and I should instead slot it into avoid Ks or eye/patience?
I can pump the stats up all I want but I'm trying to create say a Tony Gwynn type of player. |

One option is for you to import Tony Gwynn as a rookie or early in his career and then give him a fictional name?

I was curious so I did as TigerFan said for Gwynn in '84 and I got the below. Notice his BABIP is high, but his avoid K is even higher, while his eye is relatively low (he lead the league in OBP only once while 8 times for BA).
It made me wonder, who has lead the league in OBP more times than any other? I don't know the answer to that, but I do know Ted Williams has the highest career OBP. So I looked him up and he lead the league in OBP a stunning 12 times and that's with him losing his 23-26 years to the year! That's nuts! He must have that record too. Watching him play must have been something like us marvelling at what Shohei is doing. I'll attach how his 1939 imported.

For Teddy Ballgame, it’s fun to play him through those years lost when he served (with distinction) in Korea. I haven’t played all the way through to his retirement; but lifetime totals are going to be amazing. Plus he makes the Red Sox of that era a very competitive team. To be fair, I have tried to research other players who lost time to the War, and restore them (actually toggling off “miss season as in real life” should do it). Another of the “what ifs” that OOTP makes possible. (The 1950 World Series is a lot more competitive, if the Phillies don’t lose Curt Simmons to a military commitment.).
