Player On Roster Before He Should Be!
I'm replaying the 2014 season. I'm managing the San Francisco Giants on field games but not the GM position which I'm leaving to the computer to do.
I want to generate my lineups using historical records from that year, so I check every games starting lineups at Baseball-Refrence before each game. Joe Panik is on my opening day roster, but he did not debut for the Giants until June 21st of 2014. I want to send him back to the minors until that date, otherwise he takes up a roster spot for half the season away from my active players for me to have access to use in games. I'm about to start the season but I want to get the active roster historically correct before I begin, so how can I send Panik back to the minors until he was called up in 2014? I thought the GM, handled by the A.I. in my replay league, would function in the way that Brian Sabean who was the Giants GM at the time, conducted the roster and other day to day functions did in that year. Any help or advice would be most appreciated! ================================================== ========================== (EDIT) I found a way around this by temporarily enabling the Commissioner mode which let me take over the GM position. I handed off most of the GM responsibilities to the Assistant GM, but kept all transactions and decisions involving the big club up to my discretion and was able to match the Giants opening day roster by swapping Panik and 2 other players for the guys who were on the roster to open the season. Does 20 have the historical transactions and lineups feature? If so enable that feature. However that only gives you historical starting lineups and between teams and release transaction. It doesn't give you ups and downs between the majors and minors. The 25 man roster on a date is correct for those who started that game but not necessarily for the bench players.
Anyway, enabling those may give you a head start on the rosters.

Why do people use different players, different lineups, different strategy, development, talent change randomness, and the development lab, but judge the game on whether it produces historical statistics? |
