Expansion Question
I want to GM the expansion 1969 Kansas City Royals, but if I start in 1969 I won’t have spring training, a feature I like and think it extra-important for a team’s first year. I know some have it on their wish lists for future OOTP versions and I’ll add my name, too. In the meantime, I can start the project in 1968 and have Historical transactions on but I don’t think I switch it off later. I may have missed it somewhere since I’m new to OOTP. Can “Historical Transactions” be turned off after creating a League with it on?

If you start in 1969 and enable spring training when the game is created you'll have spring training for 1969.

Thanks for correcting me, for some reason I thought I always missed out on the first year's spring training for my prior saves.

Quote:
Say with historical off a team trades for a all star catcher. Then historical is turned on and it turns out historically a year or two later the team traded for an all star catcher.

I would only have historical on for the 1968 season to have correct rosters for the draft and then hold spring training in 1969 but I was told I was mistaken and have it anyway without playing '68.

Sure. That would be the consequences of toggling historical transactions off an on. But at least there's the flexibility to do that. For example, maybe somebody might want to play mostly hands-off with historical txns on from 1901 thru the mid-1970's, and then, when free agency kicks in, he wants to immerse himself in GM role, turn off hist txns, having himself and AI make all the moves... Not the way I would play, but I could see someone wanting to do something along those lines...
