Thanks Syd.

When I went 27" and 2k I thought I was "there". Then I got home from visiting the kids and grandkids with a couple of gift certificates and thinking "what could I use?" And then the idea hit me. Figured I should ask here about user experiences before dropping any cash.

In any case I'm hearing what I was hoping to hear.

Time to do some serious comparisons.

I'm trying to figure out how to fit the 34-35 inch model onto my desk without breaking my setup. I've got monitor speakers that are going to be pushed to the very edge. Who knows, if I had the space for "Colossus" I might try to justify the price. I'm kind of thankful that I don't have more room.

I had to build a new set up for the monitor. Went with an IKEA L shaped desk. Less than 225 to build the whole thing and it's huge. Also got a 42 inch TV on one side lol

10000000% this. Since getting an ultra-wide monitor at home, I'm nearly unable to enjoy OOTP, FM, etc. when playing on a laptop when traveling for work.

And back with another question. What is the minimum graphics card needed to run the 3440 * 1440 monitor at a reasonable rate?

I have a 1660 super and figured it would do the job to start with as long as I'm not playing anything more than OOTP? Now looking around I'm not so sure. I can't seem to find a definitive answer.

In any case "in for a penny, in for a pound" and I don't want to skimp by. I'm thinking I need\have to update the card?

I don't need anything crazy. This one is at newegg and amazon at $413.

PNY VERTO GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 x16 ATX Video Card VCG3060T8LDFBPB1

This could get more expensive than I intended.

Thoughts?

If you're just playing OOTP, the 1660 super is fine. For reference, I'm playing OOTP and FM with a 1060 at 4k w/o any issues.

I put my monitor in the cart and added the card just in case. When I first thought about upgrading I figured I'd start with the 1660 super and upgrade if I had issues. From my short time searching I wasn't sure it would work at all. The one saving grace, unlike a year ago, at least cards are available.

Thanks for the help.

I can't imagine you'll have any issues with that setup. I went really cheap on mine. Probably less than a 100 bucks. Been a minute now and I couldn't find where I ordered it ... possibly was a Walmart order. Just went with basically the cheapest that had DisplayPort

Thank you BaseballGoat, Cod, Garlon, and Syd. You all have been so helpful and have made my decision much easier to make.

After watching many youtube reviews I did buy the Dell I linked in post #12.
Most rated it at the top of the VA class. ISP would be another $300 or so for a real nice LG. Tempting but, I think I'll be very happy with the Dell.

I'll wait and see how my card handles it though, with your input, I'm not expecting any problems.

Wednesday expected delivery weather permitting (some snow in the forecast).

Fire up the game and post some screenshots once you have every thing hooked up!

For fun, you should take some screens with your old monitor then take the exact same screen shot with your new monitor. Then share the results.

I’m sorry to make you fall into the matrix like this.

Would one of you fine folks with the UWM mind sharing a view of the leaderboard page and maybe the standings page?

Curious to see what some of the reports look like. I've been considering an UWM for a couple years now. First time I've seen actual images of OOTP on an UWM is this thread.

Thanks

If no one else does, I'll post a couple later this afternoon after work

My monitor is scheduled for Wed. delivery but, with the holiday, I'm having doubts as it hasn't shipped. In any case as I played OOTP last night it occurred to me that I should be getting two(?) more standard width columns on my team, GM, or any editable screens. I've got some pretty nice screens on my 27" 2k now and will enjoy adding to them.

I did also think about how screens like the standings and leaderboards will look too? I wonder if OOTP scales those differently with the bigger screen to take up the space? I'll find out soon enough.

And I will later this week, with some comparisons from my 27", once I'm up and running.

I've had a 27" for a number of years. Really happy with the views at a resolution of 2560x1440. I also use increased font size.

This is what my leaderboard page looks like now. Not sure how much more info will show, so looking forward to seeing it on UWM.

I post a weekly screenshot of the game in my dynasty, although I don't usually post screenshots of the leaderboards or standings. I'd do that now but I'm around 2000 miles away from my computer at the moment...

Totally bummed as I am about to head south for a couple of months and will be limited to the laptop screen, which is not optimal. As others point out, it's all relative, which means (I hope) my Mac screen at home should look huge upon my return (and just in time for OOTP 24!). Meanwhile I may have to wean myself from most of the widgets. Pitch type, speed, and location is my favorite, but a space hog on the screen. Of course, being in a warmer climate and being able to still play OOTP should not be taken for granted. Plus toward the end of our trip, I should be able to catch a few Spring Training games live and in person.
