Odd Trades 2005

I noticed playing in historical mode that when the game moves into the 2005-06 season with the salary cap set in, teams make some really bad trades. For example, I just saw the Islanders acquire Martin St. Louis for a 4th round pick and Daniel Alfredsson for a 2nd round pick, presumably because their former teams were unable to fit them under the $39M cap.

Yeah, the teams don't really have a way of knowing that change is coming. so they may wind up in a position where they're way over the cap when it finally hits. I'll take a look at what we can do to soften the impact, like maybe knocking the budgets down a bit a year or two earlier, but I suspect that may just push the problem to an earlier year.
