1978 issue with CLE Barrons players after they fold
CLE folded at the end of the 77 season. Going into the 78/79 season the players are not in the FA pool and there is no dispersal draft scheduled on the play menu. You do a search for players, such as CLE Ron Stackhouse, D, he shows up as a listed in free agent search but does not show up in in the free agent pool, same as his CLE hockey teammates. In sum, No CLE players are in the pool. With strange combinations of clicks, the CLE team shows up sometimes in the upcoming FAS tab, but not always on July 2,
FYI, I turned off the WHA and have been manually moving teams to the right conferences and divisions with a new schedule each year. No problems there. So, why are the CLE players not in a dispersal draft or a free agency pool? I know the real history and it was somewhat complex in how the players where distributed. I didn't expect the same process in the game. I expected maybe FA process or a dispersal draft not a complete disappearance of the players. Is this bug or something else going on?

They're free agents. The Free Agent Centre screen works a little differently in historical mode during the non-UFA years, so they won't show up there, but if you're controlling an NHL team and filter the player search for signable players on July 1, you'll see all the ex-Cleveland guys. The better ones usually sign with another team on July 6.
I'm hoping to get proper handling of the Cleveland-Minnesota amalgamation and the associated drafts into one of the remaining updates this year. |

If you can get this to work will you try and make the San Jose Minnesota expansion work also or a better handling of the WHA NHL merger. Just curious Last edited by Afroduck; 01-29-2023 at 09:30 PM. |

Ideally, yeah, although I'm not sure we'll get that far right now. When we do, it'll be the dispaeral draft that moves Minnesota players to SJ, then Minnesota will be left out of the expansion draft. Phase II of the 93 expansion is also on the list, the thing where TB/OTT/SJ were able to draft FLA/ANA players after the first part of the draft.
