Possible to replicate real world MLB expansion?
The Diamondbacks and Rays didn't start playing until 1998 with the expansion draft happening after the 1997 season. Their minor league teams started in 1996 and they took part in the 1996 & 1997 drafts.
How do we recreate this scenario in OOTP? You have to have the MLB teams so that they're included in the draft, but you don't want them to play any games for 2 years. I assume you have to manually alter the schedule every year? Has anyone done this before? |

Thank you for linking that. I was thinking about this exact scenario as I contemplate expansion to 32 teams. Alot of manual work/effort, though the end result is definitely a more realistic expansion experience. Wish the game had a mechanism built in to handle this more "automatically".

I just wrote an article at the University of Michigan about this. I used that above Reddit post for inspiration.
Here it is if you're curious: https://msabr.com/2023/02/06/6731/ |
