How to get player to play 162G?

How to you make a player play every game? Cal Ripken?

The game doesn't simulate that feature of Cal Ripken unless you use historical lineups.

Without them, you can turn down fatigue and turn off injuries and get a lot of players with 162 games.

THIS must be a great idea. My consistent detractors didn't show up en masse to argue against it. They didn't show up HERE either.

Another way you can try to do this for an individual player is to make sure there are no substitute players at his position in all of a team's lineups. If substitutes are blanked out, then the player will always be in the starting lineup by default, even if he's fatigued.

Each player also has strategy settings you can access through Set Game Strategy in the Actions menu on the far upper-right of the player's profile screen. There are a couple of areas in strategies where you can set depth chart and roster strategies for an individual player. But if you use the method I mentioned above, you shouldn't have to use these. But you can check them out, just in case.

You can even put a player into the grid as a sub, just set them to “Never” in the start box. That will basically cover you if a guy gets injured. That said, I’ve seen the AI refuse to set a lineup if a player set to play is at 0% - like, it won’t fill the lineup a lot and force you to manually insert someone - and it’s possible that it would sub the guy out in that situation anyway. I think that pretty much only happens in leagues where a lot of double headers and consecutive days played drop guys deep into fatigue so even by the late 80s I doubt that’s going to be a huge issue.

Never doesn't mean never? Can you explain what it means in OOTP speak?
