Draft any player, select the year to use...?
I was thinking about creating a "Super Season League" of about a dozen teams, but the goal here is to draft any player in history, with the intention of using one year of that player's career to base the season on.
I realize that this would be largely a "replay" league. To wit, if I drafted Babe Ruth, I could use his 1921 season (so, the ratings generated for that year). Then, if I drafted Denny McClain, I could use his 1968 season. 12 teams of great players in their greatest seasons. I don't get the sense that this is possible. Any ideas? As the basis for this though, I recently dug out Radio Baseball, the old DOS game, which is a fantastic text program, with a really good draft program and stats compiler. Problem is, one cannot edit / create players, so the above paradigm is impossible, one can only use the players included in the game - there are 4 teams of elite players using their best seasons (up to 1968)...so, very limited player pool.

This may or may not be the ideal way to do this, but there is an option to import historical players into your saved game, and you can specify the season to use as the basis for your recalc period. Some people have used this method to create an all-time greats league where every player is imported based on the best season of his career. You could probably create a new league, delete all players and history, and then use this method to import players into your draft pool. I believe there is still a supported method where you can mass-import your preferred list of players and their import years using a CSV file that tells the sim what to do. But it's been years since I looked at that, so I can't be for sure.

Hey, thanks for the response!
I figured the CSV route would have to be the one, but that feels like it would be a really long-winded way of getting there. Might not have a choice. Ugh. ![]()

You might want to search the Historical Simulations sub-forum for threads where these kinds of leagues are discussed. I'm sure there are experts who can tell you how to do this in the most efficient way.
