Add launch angle to game log

Launch angles are an exciting new addition to this year's version, but it's disappointing to see how little has been done with them. Apparently they only exist in the replay widget for the last play in the in-game mode. I'd like to have them stored somehow.

Putting launch angles in the game log would be a good start toward integrating the information more in the game, and should be very easy to accomplish.

I have yet to see any confirmation that these new analytics are predictive or useful as an additional layer of underlying metrics which might indicate good or bad luck, etc., in the more traditional outcome statistics currently accrued by a player.

This is not an isolated case where clarification should be given on whether something is informative regarding process or just in effect a type of post-determination flavor text, either. For example, I saw a conversation elsewhere in which a user was being advised to use a CF with good range because he played in a spacious park. This presumes, however, that the process is such that a batted ball is assigned to a location AND that a Defensive Range check is made on that play. Perhaps, but it is also possible that on batted balls the park effect is simply made using the corresponding park factor to determine the outcome, with the location arbitrarily assigned and Defensive Range playing no role on these plays. Again, I am not claiming to know the answer- merely pointing out that the answer SHOULD be known for this and other engine mechanics.

Maybe so, but even if they're just flavor I'd still like to see them. Otherwise why have them, why advertise them? It's like they advertised pants as a feature but the pants only show up in zoomed out baseball cards and don't show up in games. Maybe it's just cosmetic but why hide the cosmetics away after you've implemented them?

Pants definitely show up in 3D, I don’t know what you’re talking about

It's a hypothetical analogy, I'm not saying it actually happened. I'm saying the launch angle situation is analogous to if they did that. They did much better at implementing pants than launch angles.

Yeeeeeeah I’m being facetious! I totally grasped the nature of the analogy and was only being facetious and I am not an idiot at all! That’s me, not an idiot Syd!

I have nothing to contribute to this thread but just wanted to say this is my favorite out-of-context quote I've read all year.

I would say that if you didn’t account for launch angles, you by definition did a poor job implementing pants, if you catch my meaning.

I prefer launch angle without pants.
