Anyone created a Random Debut League yet?

If so, did the inaugural draft seem less stacked in your eyes than they were in OOTP23?

You mean too many good players show up early?

Just the opposite in 24. I might just be imagining it, but it really seems like the inaugural drafts have a better balance this year of great players, good players, replacement players and just awful players. Just curious if others that play random debut are seeing the same thing.

Too many good or too many bad the league totals will still be "right".

True, but too many great players means more of the great players end up being not as great.

Yes, the deficiency of league totals.

However if your team's great players were as great as they were and your team always won they'd make you post about it in the dynasty forum.

True, but I don't manage or gm, so I guess I need to go back and post about it in the 23 forum. You guys!

I am starting a random debut league circa 1946. I have done the initial draft and I am now at opening day. I just tweaking some things before starting the season. Here are rounds one and two of the inaugural draft; I see about eight HOFers.

I just got the game yesterday and have not played much but I am in the process of creating a random and setting the minimum year to 1985 to current day and the issue with the minimum year cut off might be fixed:
(I know off topic from your question)

I hope so. I started with my normal 1902 cutoff and haven't seen an issue yet, but it's early. Let me know what you think about the talent in the draft. I'm impressed, but it might be all in my head.

I think you're probably OK but you never know when the Topic Police will show up. I doubt we'll have a repeat of the SWAT tactics used during the Unmentionable League incident but you never know.

I just looked at the 1961 season. There were an amazing 27 or more future HOFers playing that year. Crazy!!

It sounds like a lot. Maybe it is. However if you spread it over say 14 years playing time its under two per player/year. But it would be interesting to know how many HOFers on average are playing in a typical year.

I can’t for the life of me figure out how to start a random debut league. It’s been a few years since I played and I’m guessing I’m just not seeing an obvious setting. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Any help is appreciate!!

Select create a historical league. On the first page of the historical creation wizard, select the year you want to start and then the 3rd checkbox below where you chose the year to start will be for "use random rookies from all eras instead of real rosters.

I've made it to August 6th in my random debut league. I'm convinced this is unlike any random debut I've played in the past. I'm convinced the talent pool is not as strong as its been in the past and it's resulting in the AI having to use players that were career reserve roster guys in earlier versions. This league started in 1970. Babe Herman, Ralph Kiner and Bobby Bonds all have 30+ home runs on August 6th, so there's a chance we might see a 50 home run guy this season. Very interesting results so far. I think having a weaker overall talent pool is going to lead to better performances by the top talent in the league.

Only about 8-9 all time greats, and by the end of round 2 only good players, not great ones by any means. Does look like the quality got toned down a bit from 23, which I am still playing.

Thanks David. I am beginning to think I should buy 24, which I have been hesitant to do so far. I trust the people here on this forum: should those of us playing historical and random debut go for it and get 24 after all?

I wasn't going to buy this year till later, but curiosity got the best of me. About to finish my first season.
