Yes, as just a defensive upgrade. The hitting wouldn't improve, but Kreidler has the tools to be a much better defender.

Watching a Detroit game, not sure whether I am looking at the Tiger lineup or an executive golf course- all I see are nine holes.

How long until the players turn on Baez? I think the front office and coaches may be at that point already. We're barely two weeks into the season and Baez continues to blatantly not care about anything he does.

I was happy to see Hinch pull his fat contract out of the game for that.

But the Tigers won! Should keep Baez in the locker room more often.

3-9 sucks, but that is not a pleasant April schedule either. The only wonky team in there are the Orioles. The schedule gets lighter from the middle of May. If it still matters by then.

I don't think it will ever get lighter with Baez. He's plainly and simply thick. In his head, and ... (checks out the pictures) ... *potentially* otherwise as well. Us Mets people had well enough of his act after two weeks, and were glad when he was gone after two months.

They owe him vast amounts of money..but when a decent AA player has better production, then you're in very deep doo doo.

And unfortunately, he has the option to get out of his contract, not the Tigers. He stinks it up and he may stick the Tigers so he can get paid well.

That's a nice comeback that never should've needed a comeback.

Baez is the dead last person who would ever want to cancel a contract.

If he DID cancel it, then then best he could get would likely be about 3 million a year. Seriously..his production is THAT bad.

If the Tigers offer to buy out his contract, it would have to be close to full value...perhaps 75%. This is still a VAST amount of money.

Don't underestimate the ego of some players. From his lack of caring and willingness to make adjustments, Baez may be one of those players. With that said, benching a player with a huge ego can have a major effect to a point where a player may opt out because they think they're that good (a starter, etc.). Of course there could be public relations problems unless Baez's attitude changes; however, I think this is the only hope Detroit has to get him to opt out. The team can take steps to drive him to opt out through benching, disciplinary action, etc. from on field performance. That'll keep the MLBPA quiet.

Along the same lines, did y'all hear his excuses for his mistakes in the game against Toronto? The guy is clueless: "My mind is everywhere right now. I'm just trying to focus on my hitting and my timing. The only reason I lost the count of the outs, it was because I was hitting sixth. I thought I was the third batter in that inning. That's the only reason."

Are you serious?!?!

Another fun quote from an article I read:

“Anybody can make a mistake. At this point, the way we’re playing, and the way I’m playing, it’s obviously going to be worse. If I’m hot and I have seven homers and I make that same mistake, I would have stayed in the game. But I got no excuses,” Baez said, after making an excuse.

Guys, you still have it nice with the Tigers. They are at least trying.

I saw the Mets-A's game from yesterday and that green team is breathtaking. In all the wrong ways.

Tyler O'Neill didn't hustle on a play, and got thrown out. Cardinals' fans are ready to string him up. You don't do that on the Cardinals.

Any word on why the Tigers aren't employing the Shohei Ohtani Rule with Michael Lorenzen? He was one of the more exciting pitchers with the stick in the good ol' NL!

.710 career OPS anyway. Which would put him fourth in today's Detroit lineup, and just barely behind Akil Baddoo.

Let's focus on the pitching first - he got lit up today.

Tiger's comeback and a Miggy walk-off! Savor 'em where you can.
