gameplay lags
I'm playing out my first game, and I'm getting lags between when I hit a key and when the game reacts. Once gameplay starts, it seems to react based on my preferences (instant PBP, smallest time lags between action, 3D mode). I get a lot of hour glasses, and as I said the lag seems to be for the game itself to respond. In fact, when I went to open a browser to look this up while the game was going, that lagged too.
I'm using the same Lenovo T430 that I've run 22 and 23 on with no problems. Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz, 8GB RAM. I'm going to try the new patch and see if that makes a difference. |

What graphics card does your rig have?
One thing I've read in other threads is the new 3d crowd has caused issues for some when on high detail or animation. It's probably the biggest "play out games" change in v24. You could try lowering crowd settings and see if that helps. Have you whitelisted OOTP from your virus protection? Not as likely as the crowd, but who knows? Just throwing out a couple of ideas. Hope you get it figured out. |

I was getting lag on the "last pitch", right before either a strikeout, hit or walk. It was irritating because "you know ahead of time" that something is going to happen. I tweaked my Nvidia settings and maxed them out for games rather than performance. I still can't play with high animation settings but it is a great improvement.

thanks! when i switch from 3d to 2d, the lag does away, so it's got something to do with those 3d graphics / settings

That is also an 11-year-old CPU
This is not exactly a demanding game. But 11 years is an eternity in the tech world. |

yes, but it worked great with the last 2 versions. I was loooking to see if something had changed from 23 to 24 that might now be causing an issue. but you are right, its about time for a new one.

It might be time to update the system requirements on Steam and the OOTP website. I got curious about what they were because I have looked in years and well I am a bit of a tech head, and I will be damned if I can tell you what the minimum or recommended system is. A 64-bit capable processor and 4 GB of ram? That is almost every system since the mid-2000s. 512 MB video memory? Again, that is hardware that has been around for two decades now. |
