In all fairness, Concord and Fort Hagen did finish tied. The Stags won the tiebreaker.

Ah, I see. Yes, Starlight and Lexington went really cold in the end. That did allow Sunshine Tidings to make their first-ever playoff appearance. There is now only Salem that has never made the playoffs and Salem, Egret, and Lexington as the only teams never to make the playoffs in the full CBO format since 2298. FHE made the playoffs for the second time this season but the first in the full CBO format.

Tiebreakers are always great, they're like pre-playoff playoffs. I also find having rainouts on (or I guess in your case, radouts) can also lead to some late season drama with makeup games.

Odd the Witch Hats are our Mariners, or maybe not, considering both were beloved despite no success for a long time. Let Salem one day make it like Seattle broke the curse recently.

A Few Notes

It is surprising that the #2 seeds in each association are the bottom two predicted based on the input numbers of the combined scouts. University Point has the worst starting pitching staff, but it also has the best offensive talent of any team. Still, it will be hard for the Deathclaws to outblast such a strong field in the SCA.

The Institute League is considered to be the weakest league, with none of the three teams expected to outlast either County Crossing nor Nordhagen Beach from the Brotherhood League.

Although they did not complete the regular season with the CBO's top record, the Roxbury Rad Sox are the consensus top team. The Sox are healthy and have a killer pitching staff that will wear out most teams' offenses.

In the end, these would be the expected outcomes based on the scouting numbers:

NCA
Shroud over Chemists
Party Boys over Radstags
Bloodbugs over Shroud
Bloodbugs over Boys

SCA
Swatters over Yao Guai
Cats over Claws
Sox over Swatters
Sox over Cats

Sole Survivor Series
Sox over Bugs

SCA Playoffs - #5 FHE Yao Guai (69-52) vs #4 Diamond City Swatters (70-51)

Season Series

Diamond City 7, FHE 6
June 12-14 @DC: FHE 5-4, FHE 6-3, DC 7-3
July 3-5 @FHE: DC 4-2, FHE 7-3, FHE 8-4
Sept 4-6 @DC: DC 7-6, FHE 6-5, DC 6-1
Sept 11-13 @ FHE: DC 2-1, FHE 6-5, DC 3-1
Sept 21 @DC: DC 3-0 (tiebreaker game for seeding)

Analysis
The Diamond City Swatters have been one of the top teams in the CBO for the past five years, and there is no difference between that success this year. However, the steam train that is Roxbury toppled the Sox from atop the Railroad League. Not only that, but both University Point and Atom have been consistently strong all season, leaving the Swatters in a delicate position of needing to fight up to win the championship.

For FHE, they are entering their first playoff appearance since before the CBO was formed as a singular league. The Yao Guai last tasted the playoffs in 2297 when they entered as the #7 overall seed, defeated Goodneighbor and then got swept by the eventual champions, the Oberland T-51s.

Although the Swatters trailed FHE for most of the season, there are definite talent gaps overall between the two teams, all in favor of Diamond City. Offensively, the Swatters are full of decent for-average hitters and a lot of good power all around. 1B Oren Gep (.299/47/107), a potential MVP this season, was the team's Triple Crown winner. While Diamond City finished 6th in the SCA in home runs, their lineup has six players who can go deep at any point, all finishing with 10 or more home runs. RF Waze Waiting (.275/20/67) and 2B Jim Synthseeker (.274/19/65) are powerhouses batting on each side of Gep.

The pitching staff is where the Swatters typically start to distance themselves, but they were not fully themselves this season. Despite having one of the top starters in the CBO in SP Sheng Kawolski (13-6, 2.90), Diamond City was 7th in Starters ERA in 2303. In the playoffs, though, none of the three starters were above that 3.76 mark. X10-44 Mannson (14-7, 3.66) and City Moore (12-10, 3.70) are relatively successful. The bullpen features CL Josh Samm (28 SV, 3.57) who struggled to keep batters from scoring the past two seasons. Their best bullpen pitcher this season was Jason Worry (3-2, 2.71).

For FHE, the offense was a strong one, helping the Yao Guai to score a lot of runs. RF Joe Rathmann (.296/24/82) is the team leader. Several other players had solid seasons in either average, power, or both: LF Po Greenzone (.225/33/106), C Tyler Shoemaker (.284/12/65), and 3B Joel Mutfruit (.257/20/84), among them. Trade acquisition, 1B Bryan Assman (.225/15/52), is an interesting one. After being one of the CBO's stars, including winning the SCA's Nuka-Hitter Award in 2298 and 2299, Assman has been struggling but started to bring his average back up after being traded from Goodneighbor.

The starting pitching staff does not have the same talent as the Swatters, but the acquisition of SP Tristan Marble (11-11, 2.91) from Oberland helped to close that gap. Josh Hugs (15-8, 3.65) and Jerry Weisman (10-13, 3.74) round out the SCA's 3rd-best starters. Interestingly, the Yao Guai moved Taco LaVergne (13-6, 2.88) to the bullpen for the playoffs, which could backfire on them because of his success all season. CL Tom Mannequin (30 SV, 2.09), acquired in an offseason trade from Nordhagen Beach, has been a difference maker in the 3rd-ranked bullpen.

Prediction
The Swatters are the experienced team and FHE is entering this race. Expect Diamond City to take this one in two games, 2-0.

NCA Playoffs - #5 Sunshine Tidings Chemists (59-61) vs #4 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (64-57)

Season Series

Fort Hagen 7, Sunshine Tidings 5
July 17-19 @FtH: FtH 6-5, FtH 4-3, FtH 9-8
Aug 7-9 @FtH: FtH 4-0, ST 2-0, ST 4-3
Aug 14-16 @ ST: FtH 8-6, ST 5-0, ST 5-4
Sept 18-20 @ST: FtH 3-1, ST 5-0, FtH 6-1

Analysis

Fort Hagen and Sunshine Tidings meet in the 4-5 matchup between the playoff veterans and the playoff newcomers. The Silver Shroud finished behind the Concord Radstags for the second time in the past three seasons after losing the tiebreaker game, 5-1, on Monday.

The Shroud were middling in both runs scored and runs allowed, but those numbers are contrary to what actually happened. For the second straight season, Fort Hagen suffered a larger number of injuries, which includes one of their star pitchers, Mike Cartrette (4-2, 2.45), who is active for the playoffs. SP Derek Green (16-8, 2.59) and SP Matt Hope (12-14, 4.67) round out the starting staff, with Brent Hooker (8-9, 3.48) and Jim Livermore (9-11, 4.34) both moving to the bullpen. CL Kevin Marsh (32 SV, 1.66) came out of nowhere to become the closer and a good one at that to put him in contention for the Fallon's Reliever Award. Former closer, Curtis Thriceshot (1-0, 3.47), made the move to middle reliever.

On offense, Fort Hagen has one superstar, but the rest of the lineup could use development or offseason upgrades. CF Ben Pawlak (.348/18/67) has it all and is considered the CBO's best center fielder. 1B Jim Tiller (.333/17/75) is good, especially with getting on base, but his power is considerably lower than the CBO's average first baseman. LF Ginger Rogers (.224/16/42) is among the CBO's worst cleanup hitters. It is evident that the Shroud need to hold teams low in runs to have a chance to advance.

For the Chemists, overall numbers look a bit better than Fort Hagen. Their offense is led by the CBO's strangest statistics in a leadoff hitter, CF Ricky Ticky Laughy (.253/31/75). Sunshine Tidings' best hitter for average, LF B.J. Perez (.319/4/36) is out for the series with an injury. Rookie OF Baktu DaWell (.291/19/58), the likely Red Rocket Rookie Award winner, has been a solid fit-in piece for the offense. Other standouts include RF Brightsun Ramos (.309/16/43), but he may be out in 2304, and SS Paul Warwick (.288/8/57).

For pitching, neither the Starters ERA (6th at 3.90) nor Bullpen ERA (8th at 4.17) was good, but the Chemists finished 4th in runs allowed. Their pitching is the main reason that Sunshine Tidings is not considered a true contender, making us at BNN surprised that they are receiving so much betting action. SP Mike Rubric (9-12, 4.21) is the "ace" with SP Brian Bridges (8-13, 3.52) following him. However, the amazing results that helped Sunshine Tidings reach the playoffs is Bill Sarnacki (19-3, 3.19) who just kept winning out of the third starter spot. In the bullpen, CL Cush Baker (26 SV, 4.66) has struggled. RP Rob O'Cop (1-3, 2.65) and RP Ichavod Shoemaker (3-1, 2.02) have helped.

Prediction

Both teams have some statistical enigmas that seem should separate them more. In other words, the records more closely exemplify where they belong. We would like to congratulate the Chemists for making the playoffs, but we expect them to drop both games. Fort Hagen 2-0.

SCA Play-In Series: #5 FHE Yao Guai vs #4 Diamond City

Game 1 - FHE 3 at Diamond City 4

Swatters Rally Past Yao Guai for 1-0 Series Lead

The Diamond City Swatters slipped past the FHE Yao Guai by the score of 4-3 today at The Great Green Jewel in the first game of the Play-in Series. The Swatters had to overcome a strong outing from Yao Guai starting right-hander Tristan Marble, who threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball in the loss. With a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series, the Swatters will have two chances to close out the Yao Guai.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Diamond City third baseman Allen Bishop, facing Yao Guai closer Tom Mannequin, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Swatters the 4-3 win.

The Swatters began the inning trailing 3-2. Pinch hitter Cody Grime doubled to lead off and then moved to third on Michaelangelo Sandifer's pinch-hit single. CF Witcher Craft then singled in Grime to tie the game, as well as moving the winning run to third with no outs. Bishop then came up and drove a deep fly to center field to allow Sandifer to score the winning run.

"It's great to see the crowd jacked up," Bishop said. "I came up to the plate with one thing in mind, get the ball in the air."

Marble and Diamond City starter Sheng Kawolski had a pitcher's duel in what turned out to be a short outing for both key pitchers. Marble allowed just one run, a solo shot by 2B Jim Synthseeker, in the 2nd inning. Kawolski allowed two runs on six hits with six strikeouts in 5.0 innings. The Swatters pinch hit for him in the bottom of the 5th, ending his night on just 87 pitches.

Craft and 3B Allen Bishop each had two hits for the Swatters and each drove in a run. Bishop also scored once. FHE's 2B Jonathan Abern had three hits, including an RBI single. RF Joe Rathman had two hits, including an RBI triple in the 4th.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Great Green Jewel in Boston.

Game 2: FHE 9 at Diamond City 6

Shoemaker Blasts Swatters, Yao Guai Take Game 2, 9-6

With catcher Tyler Shoemaker leading the charge, the FHE Yao Guai got a road win over the Diamond City Swatters, 9-6, in Game 2 of the Play-in Series today. Shoemaker was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 at The Great Green Jewel to help FHE force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-3 series.

For the second straight game, the 9th inning made the difference. Diamond City sent RP Mike Pond to the mound to begin the 9th, tied 6-6. C Tyler Shoemaker led off by reaching on an error by SS Chris Milteer, a defensive replacement for Teddy Sturgeon. Joe Rathmann then hit a single to move the go-ahead runner to third. Pond then threw a wild pitch, scoring Shoemaker, before eventually walking LF Po Greenzone. 1B Bryan Assman then followed with an RBI single to make it 8-6 FHE. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded and one out, Pond hit CF Kyle Whale to score another run for the 9-6 final.

The game was full of offense with 23 hits among the two teams. FHE was led by 3B Joel Mutfruit, who went 3 for 4 with a double, a walk, a run, and an RBI. 2B Jonathan Abern, Shoemaker, and Rathmann all added two hits. Shoemaker was 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, two runs scored, and three RBI.

Diamond City also had four players with two or more hits. C Jason Watts was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI. CF Witcher Craft, RF Waze Waiting, and 2B Jim Synthseeker each added two hits. Waiting hit a solo shot in the 7th.

Neither starter had a good game but both ended with a no decision. FHE starter Josh Hugs allowed five earned runs on nine hits with three walks and two strikeouts in 5.0 innings. DC's x10-44 Mannson allowed six runs, five earned, on seven hits with four walks and three strikeouts in just 3.1 innings. The Swatters sent six pitchers to the mound.

"We're one win closer to our goal," Rathmann said in postgame remarks.

Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at BosCom Circle at FHE.

Game 3: Diamond City 7 at FHE 0

Play-in Series Goes the Distance, Diamond City Prevails

The Diamond City Swatters and FHE Yao Guai hooked up in a classic Play-in Series that went right down to the wire.

In the end, it's Diamond City heading off to the Association Semifinal, after a 7-0 win at BosCom Circle tonight earned the 2-1 series win. The Swatters' City Moore shut down the FHE offense for the second-straight time this week, allowing no runs on three hits with five strikeouts in 6.0 innings. RP Raul Esparza pitched the final three shutout innings for the save.

Outside BosCom Circle, whether they were supporters of Diamond City or FHE, many fans talked about how it was a series they would never forget.

Witcher Craft played the hero for the Swatters in the series, as his MVP performance included a .500 batting average, with a .533 on-base percentage. He also had 1 home runs, 2 RBI and scored 3 runs. In Game 3, he was 3 for 4 with a home run, a walk, three runs scored, and an RBI. 3B Allen Bishop, C Jim Watts, and SS Teddy Sturgeon all added two hits apiece. Watts and Sturgeon both doubled to round out the Swatters' extra-base hits in the game.

The Yao Guai were able to produce only seven hits in the game. 3B Joel Mutfruit was the only player with multiple hits, going 3 for 4. 1B Bryan Assman had their only extra-base hit, a two-out double in the 8th inning.

The Diamond City Swatters will play against the Roxbury Rad Sox in the next round. Roxbury had a bye in the Play-in Series. The Association Semifinal schedule will be announced after the Play-in Series finishes.

NCA Play-in Series: #5 Sunshine Tidings Chemists vs #4 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud

Game 1: Sunshine Tidings 3 at Fort Hagen 4

Home Field Advantage: Falcone, Fort Hagen Open Play-in Series with Win

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud powered past the visiting Sunshine Tidings Chemists, 4-3, in the opener of the Play-in Series at Hubris Comics Park today. Fort Hagen right fielder Gargoyle Falcone was 2 for 3 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2, to lead the charge. The Silver Shroud now lead the series 1-0.

Tutton Gatekeeper, who is a two-time All-Star, aided the Fort Hagen cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the third baseman was 1 for 2.

The 7th started out with the Shroud trailing 3-2 and Mike Rubric on the mound for the Chemists. LF Ginger Rogers led off with a single but was thrown out trying to stretch it to a double. 1B Jim Tiller then doubled and moved to third on Falcone's single. Gatekeeper then tied the game with his sacrifice fly. With two outs and a runner on first, C Stuart Cosrantino doubled in Falcone to give the Silver Shroud their first lead, 4-3.

"We did enough to win," said Gatekeeper.

Fort Hagen's Derek Green was credited with the win. In 7.0 innings, he gave up three runs, two earned, on eight hits with four walks and six strikeouts. He allowed a two-run home run to Sunshine Tidings 3B Danny Jacomet in the 4th inning.

Rubric pitched all eight innings for this team, allowing four earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hubris Comics Park in Boston.

Game 2: Sunshine Tidings 6 at Fort Hagen 3

Silver Shroud Hammered by Pickpocket, Drop Game 2 to Chemists

With first baseman Skyler Pickpocket leading the charge, the Sunshine Tidings Chemists got a road win over the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, 6-3, in Game 2 of the Play-in Series today. Pickpocket went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 at Hubris Comics Park to help Sunshine Tidings force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-3 series.

The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Pickpocket delivered big-time for Sunshine Tidings, stroking a dramatic run-scoring double off RP Kevin Marsh. The game-changing hit put the Chemists on top, 4-3.

Marsh started the inning by walking CF Ricky Ticky Laughy. Pickpocket then doubled to take the lead. After Marsh intentionally walked standout rookie Baktu DaWell, Marsh was able to get the next two batters out. With two outs and two on, C Red Sone hit a two-RBI double to score both runners, giving the Chemists a 6-3 lead heading into the game's final half inning.

"We were able to get some things going offensively, especially in the 9th when we needed it," said Pickpocket. "Now we need to get one at home."

All three Shroud runs came via home run. 1B Jim Tiller hit a solo shot in the 2nd and LF Ginger Rogers added a two-run homer in the 6th. Both came off Sunshine Tidings starter Brian Bridges.

Fort Hagen's Mike Cartrette, returning from injury but activated for the playoffs, allowed three earned runs on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts in 5.0 innings. He threw 85 pitches in the game.

The Chemists' Sone was 4 for 4 with a double, a walk, and two RBI in the game. He is now 6 for 8 in the first two games with three doubles.

The next game is set to be played for Sunday, September 27th, 2303 at ArcJet Systems Stadium in Sunshine Tidings.

Game 3: Fort Hagen 7 at Sunshine Tidings 2

Fort Hagen Takes Play-in Series in Deciding Game

Mark one up for the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud.

In the crucial final game, they put away the Sunshine Tidings Chemists 7-2 at ArcJet Systems Stadium to win the Play-in Series, 2-1 and advance to the Association Semifinal.

The Silver Shroud showed some power in the deciding game, hitting three home runs and adding a double and triple in the seven-run barrage. They took control of the game in the top of the 4th inning, trailing 1-0.

With Chemists' SP Bill Sarnacki on the mound, CF Ben Pawlak hit a one-out single. After LF Ginger Rogers walked, 1B Jim Tiller singled to load the bases. Fort Hagen manager Belch Melcher then pulled a surprise move, sending in David Driftwood in as a pinch hitter for RF Gargoyle Falcone who had been hot throughout the series. Driftwood rewarded Melcher by hitting a bases-clearing double, giving the Shroud a 3-1 lead.

"It's only the right move when it works," Melcher said. "[Fort Hagen hitting coach] Bryce [Crump] told me to go for it. I explained to Gargoyle that it was a matchup I had to take advantage of. Drifty [Driftwood] owns Sarnacki."

Although his team came up short, Sunshine Tidings's Red Sone was named the series MVP, with many of the league media feeling the series would have been over much sooner if not for his contributions.

"Sone did a lot to keep Sunshine Tidings in it, no doubt about that," said Melcher. "He deserves the MVP, but we deserve the series."

The Silver Shroud will play against the County Crossing Bloodbugs in the next round. County Crossing had a bye in the Play-in Series. The Association Semifinal schedule will be announced after the Play-in Series finishes.

Analysis
Not counting the one-game series vs NCA teams, the Roxbury Rad Sox lost exactly one season series: their matchup with the Diamond City Swatters. Not only that, but in the last two weekend series these Railroad League rivals played, the Swatters won all but one of those six games, leading us to believe this may be the one series where the Sox are most vulnerable.

It will be tough with the barrage of starting pitchers being thrown at Diamond City in this 5-game series. The Rad Sox legitimately have the CBO's best starting pitching staff, and they proved that by finishing 1st in Starters ERA (2.75). The Sox are led by the sure winner of the Vim! Pitcher Award, Nuke Laloosh (13-2, 1.73). Had he stayed healthy all season, Laloosh would probably hold on to even more single-season records, including wins, than the four he set this season: ERA, WHIP (0.89), and Opp OBP (.237), and Opp OPS (.539). Laloosh is joined by Eugene Gym (16-7, 2.73), who would be the ace on most teams, and a mildly surprising nod to Whokill Poole (15-10, 3.40) over Gwinnett Southie (17-3, 2.66). CL Andy Helium (29 SV, 3.18) leads a good bullpen (2nd in the SCA with a 3.48 ERA). College Luckyman (4-2, 2.76), who would start on most teams, and John Irwin (4-0, 2.08) also contribute to the bullpen.

On offense, Roxbury does not seem formidable, but they still were tops in the SCA in four offensive categories: runs (653), Batting Avg (.271), OBP (.363), and Batting WAR (30.9). All but one starter hit over .250, with the third and fourth hitters, LF Young Goodman (.289/28/89) and 2B Chris Connexx (.302/21/95) leading the way. Other strong contributors are RF Deerlord Fugivmee (.288/7/57), 3B Donn Mattingley (.279/12/73), and 1B Duncan MacCready (.288/9/79).

Prediction
Roxbury seems to be built to win a championship or two. Call us crazy, but we do not think it will be this year. Diamond City is still king of the RL despite finishing in second, and we predict them to edge out the Sox in this one, 3 games to 2.

SCA Semifinal: #3 Atom Cats vs #2 University Point Deathclaws

Season Series: University Point 9, Atom 3
May 29-31 @UP: Atom 8-7, UP 3-2, Atom 5-4
July 10-12 @Atom: UP 7-3, UP 6-5, UP 5-4
July 17-18 @UP: UP 7-5, Atom 6-3, UP 4-2
Sept 18-20 @Atom: UP 14-10, UP 14-7, UP 10-7

Analysis
We often mention the playoff rivalry between the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys and Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, but the Atom Cats and the University Point Deathclaws will be facing off for the third straight season. The winner of the last two went on to win the SCA. Atom won two years ago in the SCACS before falling to the titans in the Boys. The Claws won last year's matchup in the Play-In Series before riding that series win to a championship over Nordhagen Beach.

This season, we see a playoff matchup with the most lopsided season result, including seeing Univesity Point's offense explode in the last series of the season for 38 runs in a three-game sweep. Despite not having the best overall numbers, the Claw's offense is definitively the most talented in the CBO and can give good pitching staffs fits. Five players can be considered CBO stars, though three stand out the most: 1B Barker Cocoa (.365/41/91), RF Tomas Jones (.325/31/104), and SS Austin Engill (.226/30/66). LF Kory Richardson (.224/26/75) and 3B Ryan Morris (.227/24/65) also help a team that hit 188 home runs (1.57 per game) on the season, meaning a team that put up a lot of runs in bunches.

Pitching, however, is where the Deathclaws have problems. They were 5th in the SCA in runs allowed (507), including finishing 6th in Starters ERA (3.74). The top two starters, Phlip Wallace (14-4, 3.10) and Bobby Van Marter (15-9, 2.82) can matchup well to most other teams' pitching staffs, but the next two starters, Lennie Landslide (9-5, 4.61) and Wilson Beachball (16-9, 4.50) can struggle to get outs sometimes. Landslide is expected to get the nod as the third starter in the playoffs. The bullpen can also struggle. CL Freedom Williams (33 SV, 3.37) was OK and Marc Pondsip (3-2, 3.28) have helped. RP James Schwerdtfeger (3-0, 0.50) pitched really well in limited chances.

For the Cats, they have a much stronger starting rotation, though they finished only a tick better than the Deathclaws. Atom was 5th in Starters ERA (3.65) and 9th in Bullpen ERA (4.67) but finished 6th in runs allowed (514). There were no problems at all with ace Scruffy Taguchi (15-5, 2.43) who is almost always in a position to win a game. The other two starters for the playoffs, SP Deedee Martinson (8-7, 3.97) and Pete Pembroke (12-6, 3.92), will need to pitch well against University Point to keep their team in the game. SP Bow Rome (11-6, 4.54) moves to the bullpen for the playoffs to join CL Chopsticks McWilliams (37 SV, 5.37), Adam Forestman (5-10, 6.15), and Danny Scorcher (9-2, 3.53).

On offense, Atom is also better at scoring than preventing scores, finishing 3rd in the SCA in runs scored (637), 2nd in average (.267), and 2nd in homers (155). There was only one true star on offense, LF Melon Sanderson (.329/45/110), who finally found his place after being traded from Warwick to the NWL's Wild Gatorclaws to the Cats. CF Earthbound Bussey (.291/12/50), SS Jake Doucette (.290/18/77), and LF Jarrett Schoolboy (.274/10/45) are all contributors on offense.

Prediction
We can only hope that this is the one playoff series that will have a shootout every game. If that would happen, the advantage is purely in the Claw's corner. We expect that to be the case and pick University Point to take this series, 3 games to 1.

2303 CBO Playoffs - NCA Preview

Note: Play-In Series winners will not be covered in the analysis.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

29 September 2303

NCA Semifinal: #4 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud vs #1 County Crossing Bloodbugs

Season Series: County Crossing 5, Fort Hagen 3
Apr 29-30 @CC: CC 8-2, CC 7-3
June 2-4 @FtH: FtH 4-0, FtH 8-7
July 28-29 @CC: CC 14-2, CC 1-0
Sept 8-9 @FtH: CC 7-4, FtH 3-2

Analysis

County Crossing and Fort Hagen met eight times in the 2303 season, with the Bloodbugs taking five of them, including all four in County Crossing. In those four games, the Bugs held the Silver Shroud to just seven runs, showing the pitching advantages of their home park. That is something that the Shroud must overcome to have a chance in this series.

County Crossing proved to be really good, finishing in the top half of every statistical category in both hitting and pitching, including finishing first in most of them. On offense, the Bugs were the top-scoring team (651 runs), along with leading in batting average (.284), OBP (.370), OPS (.808), Batting War (31.2), wOBA (.357), and base running (+3.8). Their only "poor" category was home runs (6th with 125). This team is loaded on offense. Leading the charge are County Crossing's two top players at their respective positions, RF Babs Rooth (.379/31/84) and C Biter Trout (.385/3/63), who both happened to have the top batting averages in the CBO. All eight starters had good seasons, but 3B Taygun Topaloglu (.309/19/79), SS Cy Thompson (.275/18/55), and CF Long Hall (.249/18/71) stood out.

Just like the offense, the pitching found their groove all season. The Bugs finished first in runs allowed (400), Starters ERA (3.13), Bullpen ERA (2.96), FIP (3.36), and Pitching WAR (26.7). All three starters for the playoffs had outstanding seasons: Gavin Eviritts (17-3, 3.41), Whip Lashley (16-5, 2.58), and Urm Rehfeldt (18-5, 3.06). The one negative for the Bloodbugs entering the playoffs is the absence of their closer Jesse Bibeault (33 SV, 1.20). SP Terrence Artman (12-10, 3.91) moves into the bullpen to join Relay Meacham (6-3, 2.97), Mike Koenig (4-6, 3.35), Capstone Goofson (4-1, 2.94), and Danny Sixfingers (0-2, 2.57).

Prediction
Experience in the playoffs matters, but this County Crossing team has been here for their third straight year now. Last season, Fort Hagen got the best of the Bugs in the 2-3 matchup, but this season will be all Bugs. We expect the Shroud to take one at home, but County Crossing should take this one, 3 games to 1.

NCA Semifinal: #3 Nordhagen Beach Party Boys vs #2 Concord Radstags

Season Series: Concord 4, Nordhagen Beach 4
May 5-6 @Con: NB 8-2, NB 4-1
June 16-17 @NB: Con 5-1, Con 9-5
June 30-July 1 @NB: Con 6-4, NB 9-4
July 7-8 @Con: NB 7-6, Con 7-1

Analysis

This season marks the third time both Concord and Nordhagen Beach are in the playoffs but the first time they meet. In the Radstags playoff debut, they dropped both games of the Play-In Series to the 5th-seeded The Slog. A year later, they won the Institute League and entered as the #2 seed but again failed to win a game in being swept by County Crossing. For the Stags, they hope to start their series by winning a game to mark progress.

On the season, the teams split the series with each team surprisingly going 3-1 at the other team's home park. That fact alone seems to favor the veteran club from Nordhagen Beach. The Boys from the Beach have appeared in the Sole Survivor Series the past two seasons, including winning it all in 2301. The two years prior to that, they lost out in the NCACS to Fort Hagen.

Nordhagen Beach may be the team to beat, but the Stags are the higher seed thanks to winning the Institute League. Their strength comes from the mound, including finishing 3rd in the SCA in runs allowed (485). Their starters have not been dominant, holding just the 5th-best Starters ERA (3.89). However, that higher ERA was not because of their three playoff starters: Emperry Alizm (13-8, 3.15), Spider Caddell (12-9, 3.62), and Tyler Powers (12-9). The bullpen was a better strength, finishing 2nd in ERA (3.35). CL Sheffield Williams (26 SV, 3.29) was OK for them. A few standouts included Bobby Carvajal (3-2, 1.98), Jason Jumping (1-0, 2.00), former closer Aaron Still (8-2, 2.36), and Alex Godcomplex (4-4, 2.98).

On offense, Concord struggled to score runs. They were 8th in runs (526), 8th in batting average (.250), and 5th in home runs (134). 1B Dusty Brownell (.271/38/94) was the true standout with strong contributions from RF Dan Erb (.289/22/72) and RF Gene Leftswipe (.251/22/54). CF Pocket Aintfull (.299/4/39/22 SB) has also contributed.

Nordhagen Beach is a strong team both offensively and on the mound, hurt only by their Brotherhood League rivals, the Bloodbugs being stronger. For pitching, the Boys were 2nd in runs allowed (476) and Starters ERA (3.50). In comparison to Concord, the Party Boys' three playoff starters are a lot better in head-to-head matchups: Beachboy Nut (19-8, 3.03), Ugio Church (11-8, 3.49), and Chet Arthur (13-6, 3.10). Tommy Beach (12-9, 4.15), who will move to the bullpen for the playoffs, is probably the CBO's best 4th starter. In the bullpen, they struggled a bit more, finishing 7th in ERA (3.96). Part of that high ERA hurt Nordhagen Beach late in games, including CL Matt Breakball (30 SV, 4.30). Their best reliever was Night Demon Archaki (4-1, 2.94). RP Lawdog Whipple (2-2, 3.13) had the second-best bullpen ERA.

On offense, the Party Boys can ramp up the jams. They finished in the top half of all offensive categories, including 1st in home runs (155) and 2nd in runs scored (605), OBP (.346), OPS (.766), Batting WAR (23.8), and wOBA (.339). It all starts with likely Nuka-Hitter Award winner, RF Jonathan Angelou (.313/46/126). Other outstanding hitters include CF Maxx Murtagh (.265/37/84), LF Michael Fogcrawler (.273/32/93), and 3B Dirty Dog Sapienza (.312/13/47).

Prediction

Nearly every matchup favors Nordhagen Beach except that they do not have home-field advantage. Then again, based on the 2303 season, even that may give the Party Boys the advantage. It's hard to pick a sweep, so we will not. Boys 3, Stags 1.

I both hope that every series goes the distance (for excitement) and hope they are sweeps (for writing time).

In my experience, it's always the most anticipated matchups that end up as sweeps in OOTP

2303 CBO Playoffs - SCA Semifinals

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

5 October 2303

#3 Atom vs #2 University Point

Game 1: Atom 5 at University Point 3

Bussey Blasts Deathclaws, Cats Take Game 1, 5-3

The Atom Cats started the Association Semifinal in style today, winning on the road against the University Point Deathclaws at Gwinnett Brewery Park by a score of 5-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Cats center fielder Earthbound Bussey excelled. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

In the top of the second of a scoreless game, Bussey hit a 3-run home run to put his team ahead.

"We're one game closer to our goal," Atom manager Fourth Wall said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."

Scruffy Taguchi was the winning pitcher. In 6.0 innings, he allowed two earned runs on seven hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

Phlip Wallace lost the game by allowing five runs, four earned, with two walks and two strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

Austin Engill and Jukebox Luttrell both went yard for the Claws.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Gwinnett Brewery Park.

Game 2: Atom 3 at University Point 5

Cats Hammered by Jones, Drop Game 2 to Deathclaws

With right fielder Tomas Jones leading the charge, the University Point Deathclaws defeated the visiting Atom Cats, 5-3, in Game 2 of the Association Semifinal today. Jones was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once at Gwinnett Brewery Park to help University Point force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 series.

Shawn Cherry, the University Point catcher, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 1-0, Deathclaws. For the game, Cherry went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk.

"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," University Point manager Woody Lumpkin told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."

Jones gave the Claws a big lead in the bottom of the 5th when he hit a three-run bomb. It was his team's only extra-base hit. Atom also only had home runs as their extra-base hits, a 6th-inning homer by Garrett Machine and a 9th-inning, two-run pinch-hit home run by Deer Quickwalker.

Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Coolest Field in Town at the Atom Cats Garage.

Game 3: University Point 6 at Atom 0

Landslide Handcuffs Cats, Deathclaws Seize 2-1 Advantage in ASF

The University Point Deathclaws silenced the Atom Cats today to move within one game of the Association Championship. The Deathclaws shut out the Cats by a final score of 6-0 at Coolest Field in Town. University Point right-hander Lennie Landslide had a strong outing. He threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Deathclaws a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Association Semifinal.

Shawn Cherry, the 24-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Cherry contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put University Point up, 2-0.

Landslide said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."

University Point blew the game open in the top of the 6th. With Pete Pembroke still on the mound, he allowed a one-out single to Tomas Jones. After Austin Engill walked, Ryan Morris singled in Jones. Following a wild pitch to move runners to second and third, Pembroke intentionally walked Shawn Cherry to load the bases. With two outs, Landslide hit a bases-clearing double for the 6-0 lead.

"That's probably the last time in my life I'll have a game like that," the 37-year-old Landslide said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Coolest Field in Town.

Game 4: University Point 8 at Atom 2

Deathclaws Heading to Association Championship

The University Point Deathclaws are riding high after winning the Association Semifinal and eliminating the Atom Cats by a series score of 3-1.

The final blow came tonight at Coolest Field in Town, when University Point secured its spot in the Association Championship with a 8-2 victory.

"It feels good to put them away because we really didn't want to let them crawl back into this series," said catcher Shawn Cherry, who was named series MVP. "A team like that, you need to bury them when you get the chance."

Cherry certainly helped his team's cause, as he hit .467 with a .529 on-base percentage in the series. He also chipped in 0 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 1 runs.

The Claws jumped all over Atom starter Scruffy Taguchi early in the game. Chris Recore led off the game with a double. After Kory Richardson walked, Barker Cocoa doubled in Recore. With one out, Austin Engill hit an RBI groundout to make the score 2-0.

University Point started pulling away in the 3rd. Recore led off with a walk and then advanced to third on Cocoa's one-out single. Tomas Jones then doubled, scoring both runners. With two outs and two on, Cherry hit an RBI single for a 5-0 lead.

Phlip Wallace pitched the complete game victory. He allowed four hits, two earned runs, walked one, and struck out six on 106 pitches.

The University Point Deathclaws don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Roxbury Rad Sox - Diamond City Swatters series. Roxbury leads the series 2 games to 1. The Association Championship schedule will be announced after the Association Semifinal finishes.

#4 Diamond City vs #1 Roxbury

Game 1: Diamond City 5 at Roxbury 3, 10 inn.

Swatters, Rad Sox Play 10 to Settle Game 1, Diamond City Now Leads Series 1-0

When the games really matter, the Diamond City Swatters put on their best show, beating the Roxbury Rad Sox by a final score of 5-3 today in 10 innings. Diamond City now leads Roxbury 1-0 in the best-of-5 affair.

The game MVP went to Roxbury SP Nuke Laloosh who threw 8.0 innings of two-hit shutout ball. He struck out five in 8.0 innings. However, it was the Sox bullpen that fell apart.

Leading 3-0 entering the 9th, Roxbury sent CL Andy Helium to the mound to complete the shutout. The Swatters, however, had different ideas. Witcher Craft led off with a double, followed by an Allen Bishop walk. Waze Waiting then hit a three-run bomb to tie the game, 3-3.

Helium ended up escaping the 9th with no further damage, but there was more trouble in the top of the 10th. With two outs and Craft on second following a walk and advancement on a ground out, Waiting hit the game-winner, an RBI single, to give Diamond City the permanent lead.

Waiting finished the game 2 for 4 with a home run, a run, and four RBI. Chris Van Benschoten added two hits, one a double, for Diamond City. The Swatters had seven total hits with three extra-base hits all coming in the 9th inning.

The Rad Sox finished with six hits, with two of those coming via CF Edward Cox. Cox hit a two-run home run in the 5th inning.

CL Josh Samm was credited with the win after pitching two shutout innings in which he allowed no base runners and struck out three. Sheng Kawolski had the no-decision, allowing three earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts in 7.0 innings.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury in Boston.

Game 2: Diamond City 10 at Roxbury 13

Raucous Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury Crowd Propels Rad Sox to 13-10 Victory; Series Tied at 1

In a crucial game, the Roxbury Rad Sox put on their best show, beating the Diamond City Swatters by a final score of 13-10 today. Oren Gep went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Roxbury and Diamond City are now tied at 1 wins apiece in the best-of-5 affair.

Young Goodman, who finished 5th in the SCA in on-base percentage with .430 last year, aided the Roxbury cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the left fielder was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

Diamond City manager Bucky Bachelor expressed his frustration after the game: "That many runs and it still wasn't enough?"

A total of nine players had two or more hits. In addition to Gep, Jim Synthseeker and Jason Watts each had multiple hits and homered for the Swatters. Synthseeker added a double.

Roxbury had five batters with two or more hits. Goodman, Donn Mattingley, and Biddy Swenson all homered. Mattingley drove in three and scored twice.

Both starting pitchers were blasted in short outings. X10-44 Mannson allowed six runs, five earned, on seven hits with three walks and a strikeout in 3.2 innings. Eugene Gym pitched 4.1 innings, allowing six earned runs on five hits with six walks and seven strikeouts.

Roger Failure was the winning pitcher. Andy Helium picked up the save. Josh Samm was credited with the loss after allowing four earned runs in just 1.0 innings pitched.

Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at The Great Green Jewel in Boston.

Game 3: Roxbury 2 at Diamond City 0

Road Win Lifts Roxbury to 2-1 Lead in ASF

The Roxbury Rad Sox silenced the Diamond City Swatters today to move within one game of the Association Championship. The Rad Sox shut out the Swatters by a final score of 2-0 at The Great Green Jewel. Roxbury left-hander Whokill Poole had a strong outing. He threw 9.0 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Rad Sox a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Association Semifinal.

Poole went the distance for Roxbury. He allowed no runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1.

Poole called the win "a team effort."

Roxbury scored its first run in the top of the 4th off Swatters starter City Moore. Chris Connexx singled to lead off and stole second. With one out, Donn Mattingley singled in Connexx for the 1-0 lead.

The second run came in the 7th. Roxbury loaded the bases with nobody out on three straight singles. Edward Cox then hit into a double play, allowing Connexx to score for the second time.

Moore allowed two earned runs on seven hits with three walks in 6.0 innings pitched in the loss.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Great Green Jewel in Boston.

Game 4: Roxbury 2 at Diamond City 8

Bishop, Swatters Wallop Rad Sox in Game 4 of ASF

The Diamond City Swatters and the Roxbury Rad Sox will take the Association Semifinal to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Swatters beat the Rad Sox 8-2 at The Great Green Jewel to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff.

Diamond City third baseman Allen Bishop went 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 and driving in 4.

The game turned with two out in the bottom of the sixth when Bishop, who finished 4th in the SCA in doubles with 39 in 2299, hit a solo home run. It propelled the Swatters into the lead, 2-1.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Bishop.

The floodgates opened in the bottom of the 7th when the Swatters poured on six runs to jump ahead 8-1. With Roxbury ace Nuka Laloosh still on the mound, Diamond City did not care. Jim Synthseeker led off with a single after fouling off six balls. Chris Van Benschoten followed with a single to move Synthseeker to third. Jason Watts then singled in Synthseeker. After a failed sacrifice bunt by Teddy Sturgeon got Van Benschoten out at third and a Cody Grime flyout, the Rad Sox responded by getting Witcher Craft to load the bases on a walk, followed by a bases-clearing triple by Bishop. Michael Thawt came in to relieve Laloosh, but he immediately gave up a two-run home run to Waze Waiting.

Laloosh suffered the loss by allowing seven earned runs on nine hits with two walks and nine strikeouts in 6.2 innings. The most runs he had given up all season was four.

Sheng Kawolski was the winning pitcher. In 6.0 innings, he allowed one earned run on three hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Mike Pond and Raul Esparza closed out the game.

Game 5 is scheduled for Sunday at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury in Boston.

Game 5: Diamond City 1 at Roxbury 5

Roxbury Takes Association Semifinal in Deciding Game

Commonwealth Baseball Organization pundits who figured the Association Semifinal between the Roxbury Rad Sox and Diamond City Swatters would go the distance were right on the mark.

The two teams battled back and forth in a spirited series, with Roxbury coming out on top thanks to a 5-1 win in the deciding game at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury, to wrap things up 3-2.

"You get to the last game and anything can happen, so we're overjoyed to come out on top," said Rad Sox shortstop Purple Gupta, who was named series MVP.

For the series, Gupta had 8 hits for a .500 average. He had 0 home runs, 4 RBI and scored 1 runs.

Roxbury started fast against Swatters starter X10-44 Mannson. In the bottom of the 1st, Deerlord Fugivmee led off with a single. After Duncan MacCready reached on a fielder's choice, he moved to second on a wild pitch. Chris Connexx then walked to put two on with one out. Young Goodman then singled to load the bases, followed by an RBI single by Donn Mattingley. With two outs, Gupta hit a two-RBI single to make it 3-0 after one inning.

Eugene Gym was the winning pitcher, allowing one unearned run on four hits with five strikeouts in 7.0 innings. Mannson was credited with the loss.

The Roxbury Rad Sox will play against the University Point Deathclaws in the next round. University Point won their series against the Atom Cats 3 games to 1. The Association Championship schedule will be announced after the Association Semifinal finishes.

The game was tied heading into the top of the 9th. Sheffield Williams took the mound for the Stags in the inning and walked Michael Fogcrawler on four straight pitches. Star RF Jonathan Angelou then came up and hit a two-run home run to give the Boys the lead. Maxx Murtagh then followed with a back-to-back home run for the game's final tally.

All three Concord hits came in the 4th inning. Dusty Brownell led off with a single, followed by a double by Josh McIntyre to put runners at second and third. Tenthree Leader then singled in Brownell for the Radstags' only run.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Nuka Park in Concord.

"It's great to see the crowd jacked up," Stahl said.

Dan Erb of Concord and Dirty Dog Sapienza of Nordhagen Beach hit a home run for their teams.

Matt Breakball suffered the loss just one day after getting the win in the game. Stags SP Spider Caddell threw a lot of pitches in a short time, chasing him early. In just 4.2 innings, he threw 92 pitches, allowing one earned run on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

The next game is set to be played for Friday, October 2nd , 2303 at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium in Nordhagen Beach.

Game 3: Concord 9 at Nordhagen Beach 4

Brownell Blasts Party Boys, Radstags Take Game 3, 9-4

The Concord Radstags moved to within one game of the Association Championship today, downing the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys on the road at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium by a score of 9-4. Radstags first baseman Dusty Brownell went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. The win gives the Radstags a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Association Semifinal.

Tyler Powers had a timely hit in the top of the fifth inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the Concord starting pitcher hit a solo home run. That put the Radstags in front, 9-4.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Powers.

Dan Erb added two hits, including a double, with three RBI. Tenthree Leader added two RBI on his double.

The Boys were held to seven hits, but Ryan Combs was 4 for 4 with two doubles, a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium in Nordhagen Beach.

Game 4: Concord 3 at Nordhagen Beach 8

3B Sapienza Lights Up Radstags for 5 RBIs as Party Boys Tie ASF

The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys and the Concord Radstags will take the Association Semifinal to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Party Boys beat the Radstags 8-3 at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Nordhagen Beach third baseman Dirty Dog Sapienza slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice.

The Party Boys took a 8-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Facing Concord hurler Jason Jumping with two outs, Sapienza hit a grand slam home run.

"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Sapienza.

Maxx Murtagh was 2 for 4 with a home run, a run, and two RBI. Lucky Oldsun had three hits for the Stags.

The next game is set to be played for Monday, October 5th , 2303 at Nuka Park in Concord.

Game 5: Nordhagen Beach 3 at Concord 4

Association Semifinal Goes the Distance, Concord Prevails

The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Nuka Park as the Association Semifinal stretched to the final game.

It was the Concord Radstags feeling the thrill of victory, with a 4-3 win over the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Association Championship.

"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Nordhagen Beach manager Matt Ballhawk Getman. "Congratulations to Concord, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."

Instrumental in the 3-2 series win was first baseman Dusty Brownell, who was named MVP. He hit .412 with a .474 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 4 runs.

"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.

Nordhagen Beach took a 3-0 lead in the top of the 4th. With Spider Caddell on the mound, Jonathan Angelou led off with a single. Maxx Murtagh then walked and Angelou tagged up to third on Dirty Dog Sapienza's fly ball. Mike Swift then reached on an error, scoring Angelou and advancing Murtagh to third. Caddell then threw a wild pitch to make it 2-0. With two outs, Brian Masterson doubled in Swift for the 3-0 lead.

That lead remained until the bottom of the 8th. Nordhagen Beach pitcher Ugio Church remained on the mound and still looked good, getting the first two Stags' hitters to fly out. Church then walked Pockets Aintfull and then allowed a single to Dan Erb to bring the tying run to the plate with two outs. Gene Leftswipe then hit an RBI single to cut the lead to two, 3-1. Matt Breakball then came on to relieve Church with two runners on. That lead for the Boys lasted exactly three pitches before Kyle Boohoo went deep to give the Radstags the 4-3 lead.

Sheffield Williams pitched the 9th for the save. Bobby Carvajal was credited with the win. Breakball was the loser, his second of the series.

The Concord Radstags don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the County Crossing Bloodbugs - Fort Hagen Silver Shroud series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Association Championship schedule will be announced after the Association Semifinal finishes.

#4 Fort Hagen at #1 County Crossing

Game 1: Fort Hagen 3 at County Crossing 4

Association Semifinal Game 1 Victory for Eviritts and County Crossing

The County Crossing Bloodbugs started the Association Semifinal in style today, downing the visiting Fort Hagen Silver Shroud at Beantown Brewery Stadium by a score of 4-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Bloodbugs right-hander Gavin Eviritts threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said County Crossing manager Crow Guai.

Ajani Peacock and Long Hall each had two hits for the Bugs. Peacock doubled, scored, and drove in a run. Cy Thompson had a solo shot off Fort Hagen's pitcher Derek Green. Green was credited with the loss.

Game 2: Fort Hagen 5 at County Crossing 3

Fort Hagen Win to Pull Even With County Crossing

With second baseman Mark Miller leading the charge, the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud got a road win over the County Crossing Bloodbugs, 5-3, in Game 2 of the Association Semifinal today. Miller went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles at Beantown Brewery Stadium to help Fort Hagen force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 series.

Fort Hagen used a well-timed hit by Ben Pawlak to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Silver Shroud ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Miller, "and then get after it again."

Mike Cartrette got the start for the Shroud, allowing two earned runs on three hits with three walks and four strikeouts in 4.0 innings. Brent Hooker came on in relief and was credited with the win.

Whip Lashley suffered the loss for the Bugs. He pitched 5.0 innings, allowing four earned runs on eight hits with three walks and two strikeouts.

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Hubris Comics Park in Fort Hagen.

Game 3: County Crossing 7 at Fort Hagen 3

Silver Shroud Hammered by Hall, Drop Game 3 to Bloodbugs

The County Crossing Bloodbugs moved to within one game of the Association Championship today, downing the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud on the road at Hubris Comics Park by a score of 7-3. Bloodbugs center fielder Long Hall was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The win gives the Bloodbugs a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Association Semifinal.

The game turned with two out in the top of the sixth when Hall hit a 2-run home run. It propelled the Bloodbugs into the lead, 4-2.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Hall. "And not try to do too much."

Biter Trout had his first big game in the series, going 3 for 5 with a double, a home run, two runs, and three RBI. Ajani Peacock and Taygun Topaloglu each added two hits. Topaloglu hit an RBI triple.

Ginger Rogers and Jim Tiller each had two hits for the Shroud. Tiller tripled, scored, and drove in a run.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hubris Comics Park in Fort Hagen.

Game 4: County Crossing 5 at Fort Hagen 6

Silver Shroud Clip Bloodbugs 6-5 in ASF Contest

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud and the County Crossing Bloodbugs will take the Association Semifinal to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Silver Shroud beat the Bloodbugs 6-5 at Hubris Comics Park to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Fort Hagen center fielder Ben Pawlak was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Mark Miller came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing County Crossing pitcher Drama Miller, he hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Fort Hagen on top, 6-5.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Fort Hagen manager Belch Melcher.

The Bugs spread six hits among six players. Cy Thompson was 1 for 3 with three RBI. Babs Rooth was the only County Crossing player with an extra-base hit, an RBI double in the 5th. He finished 1 for 2 with a double, two walks, a run, and an RBI.

Neither of the starters, Gavin Eviritts or Derek Green, had a say in the final. Kevin Marsh got the win with the save by Radscorpion Johnson. Drama Miller suffered the loss.

The deciding game is set to be played for Monday, October 5th , 2303 at Beantown Brewery Stadium in County Crossing.

Game 5: Fort Hagen 3 at County Crossing 2

Silver Shroud Prevail, as Association Semifinal Goes to the Wire

Mark one up for the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud.

In the crucial final game, they put away the County Crossing Bloodbugs 3-2 at Beantown Brewery Stadium to win the Association Semifinal, 3-2 and advance to the Association Championship.

Although his team came up short, County Crossing's Biter Trout was named the series MVP, with many of the league media feeling the series would have been over much sooner if not for his contributions.

"Trout did a lot to keep County Crossing in it, no doubt about that," said Silver Shroud manager Belch Melcher.

Kevin Marsh got the win for the Shroud for the second straight game after the pitcher's duel left things in doubt. Fort Hagen starter Mike Cartrette allowed just two runs on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts in 4.0 innings. Brent Hooker then pitched three shutout innings for the Silver Shroud before giving way to Marsh.

County Crossing was led by Whip Lashley, who pitched 7.0 innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts. Drama Miller suffered his second straight loss.

Gargoyle Falcone had the best day offensively for the Silver Shroud. He finished 2 for 4 with a double, Fort Hagen's only extra-base hit, with a run and two RBI. Taygun Topaloglu had three hits, two doubles, for the Bugs. Trout was 2 for 3 with a solo home run.

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud will play against the Concord Radstags in the next round. Concord won their series against the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys 3 games to 2. The Association Championship schedule will be announced after the Association Semifinal finishes.

2303 CBO Playoffs - Association Championship Previews

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

6 October 2023

Playoff Tree

SCA: #2 University Point Deathclaws vs #1 Roxbury Rad Sox

Season Series: Roxbury 6, University Point 2
May 5-6 @Rox: Rox 8-0, Rox 9-0
June 2-3 @UP: UP 4-2, Rox 6-3
June 16-17 @UP: Rox 7-4, UP 2-1
Sept 15-16 @Rox: Rox 5-0, Rox 15-4

Analysis

A year ago, we saw the culmination of change in the South Charles Association. University Point pulled through after flirting with championship aspirations the year before to dethrone Nordhagen Beach in the Sole Survivor Series. Roxbury, perennial losers in the CBO in the six years of Commonwealth baseball, broke through to secure the third seed before dropping that series to the second-seed Jamaica Plain.

This season, these two teams enter the playoffs as the best two teams and have done nothing all season to deny their claims to the top. Sure, the Deathclaws were surpassed briefly by a hot Atom Cats team in the season, but the Cats faded later to the better team.

We already analyzed both of these teams' standouts, so let's look directly at matchups.

On offense, the Claws have the advantage in the middle of the lineup because of their 2-6 hitters all hitting at least 24 home runs on the season. The Sox gain the offensive advantage back at the 7-1 swing from the bottom of the order to the leadoff spot. In the comparison, the biggest advantage goes to University Point.

However, the pitching staffs have some say in how much the opponent can score. For the starting rotation, that advantage is to Roxbury in all three slots, though the #3 pitcher matchup of the Rad Sox's Whokill Poole vs the Claws' Bobby Van Marter is an interesting one.

Beyond the starters, the bullpen is also in the Sox's favor with the 2nd-best bullpen in the SCA vs the 6th-best.

Prediction

There has been a wins pattern in this series. We will not argue those numbers, so in the two to Rox, one to the Claws pattern, with University Point scheduled for the next, we are specifically predicting the games to go this way: G1-UP, G2-Rox, G3-Rox, G4-UP, G5-Rox, G6-Rox. Therefore, we predict the Sox to the Series with the chance to break the Boston curse for teams named the Sox in Boston, 4 games to 2.

NCA: #4 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud vs #2 Concord Radstags

Season Series: Concord 10, Fort Hagen 3
May 8-10 @FtH: Con 11-1, Con 6-4, Con 4-3
May 15-17 @Con: Con 5-1, FtH 2-1, Con 1-0
July 31-Aug 2 @Con: Con 4-1, FtH 8-4, Con 7-2
Aug 21-23 @FtH: Con 4-3, Con 3-2, FtH 4-2
Sept 21 @Con: Con 5-1

Analysis

Before Concord won their series over the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, they had yet to win a playoff series. Not only that, but in their two previous trips to the playoffs, they were a combined 0-5 in their games played. So to be in the position where they have home-field advantage to make a Sole Survivor Series, the Radstags have made great strides in their success.

For Fort Hagen, new year, same successes. The Silver Shroud are in the playoffs for the seventh-straight season with their fifth appearance in the NCA Championship Series in six years of its existence. Their one year of not getting this far was in 2301 as the 5th seed when they fell to the #1 Party Boys in the Semifinals round in the Boys' eventual championship season.

This season, though, the Stags were the team to keep Fort Hagen down. The Shroud struggled to get wins all season, and they ultimately lost in the season tiebreaker game to fall to the #4 seed in the playoffs. Based on regular season results, Concord has a huge advantage in this series.

Offensively, the Silver Shroud seem to have most of the advantage, especially when it comes to offensive stardom, like CF Ben Pawlak. However, the Stags have a decided advantage in generating runs with power. In the end, the teams finished with just a 13-run differential, with Fort Hagen winning the season battle in runs scored, 539-526.

The pitching matchups are even tighter, with Concord holding the runs allowed advantage, 485-495. The Shroud's starters have a 0.26 ERA advantage but in the bullpen its a 0.21 ERA advantage to the Radstags. Based on pure talent, the advantage seems to be Fort Hagen. The questions is if that will be the reality.

Prediction

Based on the regular season results, the Radstags seem to have Fort Hagen's number. This is not the regular season, and the Shroud are not to be messed up in the playoffs. We're taking Fort Hagen to power themselves in a well-fought, tight series. Shroud 4, Concord 3.

Based solely on the fact that the Party Boys got eliminated I'm going to say it's the Shroud's time to shine. Maybe they can have some success when the usual suspects aren't here haha.

SCA Championship Series: #2 University Point Deathclaws vs #1 Roxbury Rad Sox

Game 1: University Point 3 at Roxbury 8

Association Championship Game 1 Victory for Laloosh and Roxbury

The Roxbury Rad Sox started the Association Championship in style today, downing the visiting University Point Deathclaws at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury by a score of 8-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Rad Sox right-hander Nuke Laloosh threw 7.2 innings allowing 3 runs.

Duncan MacCready, the Roxbury first baseman, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 3-2, Rad Sox. For the game, MacCready went 3 for 5 with 3 singles.

"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'Roxbury Rad Sox (probably) 2303 Sole Survivor Series Champions'," Laloosh told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"

The Deathclaws had nine hits on the day, all singles. Barker Cocoa was the most successful overall, going 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI.

The Sox reeled off five extra-base hits, including a three-run home run by Donn Mattingley. Laloosh doubled and scored. Young Goodman added two hits, including a double.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury.

Game 2: University Point 9 at Roxbury 6, 10 inn.

Jones Blasts Rad Sox, Deathclaws Take Game 2, 9-6

In a crucial game, the University Point Deathclaws put on their best show, beating the Roxbury Rad Sox by a final score of 9-6 in 10 innings today. Tomas Jones went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. University Point and Roxbury are now tied at 1 win apiece in the best-of-7 affair.

The critical at-bat for University Point came in the top of the tenth inning. With no one out, Jones drew a bases-loaded walk, driving in 1 run, putting University Point up, 7-6. Austin Engill then doubled in two runs for the 9-6 final.

Rad Sox manager Coffee Kupp did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the Sole Survivor Series."

Marc Pondsip picked up the win, pitching two innings of shutout ball. College Luckyman was the losing pitcher. Both starters, Wilson Beachball and Whokill Poole, left after six innings with the Deathclaws up 4-3.

In addition to Jones, Engill also had a big day, going 2 for 5 with a double, a home run, a run, and three RBI. Deerlord Fugivmee and Duncan MacCready each had three hits for the Sox. Fugivmee doubled, homered, scored twice, and drove in himself.

The next game is set to be played for Friday, October 9th , 2303 at Gwinnett Brewery Park in University Point.

Game 3: Roxbury 2 at University Point 1

Road Win Lifts Roxbury to 2-1 Lead in ACS

Eugene Gym pitched a gem (gym?) to help the Roxbury Rad Sox escape with a tight 2-1 victory over the University Point Deathclaws in a low-scoring Association Championship contest today. The right-handed Gym threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball in the win, just enough for the Rad Sox on a day when their offense dried up. Roxbury now leads the best-of-7 series 2-1.

Duncan MacCready, the 2301 Red Rocket Rookie Award winner , had a direct impact on the outcome. MacCready contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Roxbury up, 1-0.

MacCready said his team "executed a good game plan."

Deathclaws starter Bobby Van Marter suffered the loss, allowing two earned runs on five hits with five walks and five strikeouts in 4.2 innings. Four UP relievers pitched shutout ball for the final 4.1 innings. Andy Helium picked up the save for the Sox.

Kory Richardson drove in the Claws' only run on a solo home run.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Gwinnett Brewery Park.

Game 4: Roxbury 12 at University Point 6

Almost There: Roxbury On Cusp of ACS Triumph After 12-6 Win

Riding the 3-hit performance of left fielder Young Goodman, the Roxbury Rad Sox got a road win against the University Point Deathclaws, 12-6, in Game 4 of the Association Championship today. Goodman was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice for the Rad Sox, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 3 games to 1.

Purple Gupta, the 22-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Gupta contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Roxbury up, 5-2.

"I like to keep things lively in the clubhouse," said Gupta. "Believe me, it's much easier after a win."

Ten of Roxbury's 12 runs came in spurts in the 1st and 4th innings. In the top of the 1st, the Sox loaded up on University Point ace Phlip Wallace. Deerlord Fugivmee led off with a single, followed by a wild pitch and then an RBI double by Duncan MacCready. After a wild pitch and a walk, Young Goodman made it 4-0 early with his three-run bomb.

Barker Cocoa was able to answer in the bottom of the 4th to make the score 4-2 and stay close, but the 4th inning put the game away. Trailing 5-2 entering the 4th, the Claws made a pitching change for Lennie Landslide. He looked good to start, striking out the first two batters. Then, it was all Roxbury. MacCready singled, followed by Chris Connexx. With runners on the corners, Goodman hit his second three-run home run to make it 8-2. Donn Mattingley followed with another homer, chasing Landslide in favor of Geoff Obstinant. Edward Cox, Purple Gupta, and Biddy Swenson all reached on walks, followed by Nuke Laloosh's two-RBI single for a 11-2 lead.

Laloosh was the winner despite allowing four earned runs on seven hits with a walk and four strikeouts in 7.1 innings. He allowed two home runs.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Gwinnett Brewery Park.

Game 5: Roxbury 11 at University Point 5

Rad Sox Heading to Sole Survivor Series

Roxbury Rad Sox fans are rejoicing after a 11-5 win at Gwinnett Brewery Park has propelled the club to a 4-1 Association Championship victory over the University Point Deathclaws.

With the win, the club advanced to the Sole Survivor Series.

"Total team effort, that's the only way we get it done in this one," said Roxbury left fielder Young Goodman, who was named series MVP.

The Sox again got out to an early lead, going up 2-1 after one, and leading 4-1 before the Deathclaws tied it 4-4 in the bottom of the 4th. At the end of six innings, the game was tied, 5-5.

In the top of the 7th, Roxbury finally took control. With one out, Goodman was walked by Claws' pitcher Kelvin Blueprint. Connexx also walked and Duncan MacCready singled to load the bases. University Point sent in Danny Hitless who gave up a double on his first pitch to pinch hitter Moses Church, making the score 7-5. Biddy Swenson later added an RBI sacrifice fly for the 8-5 lead. The Sox would go on to plate three more in the final two innings for the 11-5 final.

"I just regret all our pitchers got left on the train," University Point manager Woody Lumpkin said when asked about allowing 23 runs in the series's final two games. Neither team's starting pitching looked great in the series except for Game 3.

The Roxbury Rad Sox don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud - Concord Radstags series. Fort Hagen leads the series 3 games to 0. The Sole Survivor Series schedule will be announced after the Association Championship finishes.

NCA Championship Series: #4 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud vs #2 Concord Radstags

Game 1: Fort Hagen 7 at Concord 5

Road Win Lifts Fort Hagen to 1-0 Lead in ACS

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud powered past the hometown Concord Radstags, 7-5, in the opener of the Association Championship at Nuka Park today. Fort Hagen starting pitcher Derek Green threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs, to lead the charge. The Silver Shroud now lead the series 1-0.

Fort Hagen used the bat of Jim Tiller to capture the win. The first baseman jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Silver Shroud ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a dandy.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Fort Hagen manager Belch Melcher.

Mark Miller was 3 for 5 with two doubles and two runs scored for the Shroud. Gargoyle Falcone, Tutton Gatekeeper, and Stuart Costantino each added two hits. Costantino added a two-RBI single in the five-run 1st.

Four Stags had multiple hits: Pockets Aintfull, Josh McIntyre, Tenthree Leader, and Sean Koester. Aintfull had the only extra-base hit of the game for his team, an RBI double in the 2nd.

Emperry Alizm was the losing pitcher for the Radstags, allowing five earned runs--all in the 1st inning--on eight hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in 6.0 innings.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Nuka Park in Concord.

Game 2: Fort Hagen 8 at Concord 7

Fort Hagen Tops Concord Again, 8-7

Despite a great performance by Concord left fielder Dan Erb, the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud defeated the Radstags by the score of 8-7 at Nuka Park today. Erb went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3, but he could not prevent the Silver Shroud from moving one game closer to the Sole Survivor Series. Fort Hagen now leads the Association Championship 2-0.

"This one hurts," Radstags manager Mark Gourdroot said.

There was late-game drama. Trailing 6-3 heading into the bottom of the 8th, the Stags went to face off against reliever Kevin Marsh. Marsh plunked Pockets Aintfull to start the inning. After Dusty Brownell singled, Erb hit a three-run homer to tie the game, 6-6. Kyle Boohoo then doubled and tagged up on Tenthree Leader's flyout. With two outs, Mushy Levy hit the ball in the gap, scoring Boohoo for the 7-6 lead, before he was thrown out trying for a double.

All Concord needed was three outs to tie the series. Instead, Fort Hagen got offensive in the top of the 9th. Sheffield Williams came on to close it out for the Stags but walked Bixton Moore to lead off. Andrew Nuka then singled, moving Moore to third. Mark Miller then singled to tie the game, 7-7. With one out, Jim Tiller hit a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to score Nuka. The Silver Shroud took the lead, 8-7, and the win.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Tiller.

Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at Hubris Comics Park in Fort Hagen.

Game 3: Concord 5 at Fort Hagen 9

Silver Shroud Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud moved to within one game of the Sole Survivor Series today, downing the visiting Concord Radstags at Hubris Comics Park by a score of 9-5. Silver Shroud center fielder Ben Pawlak did some major damage. He was 3 for 5 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The win gives the Silver Shroud a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Association Championship.

In the bottom of the fifth, Fort Hagen third baseman Tutton Gatekeeper had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Gatekeeper stroked a 2-run single to left-center. It made the score 3-1, Fort Hagenm a lead they would never relinquish. For the game, he went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Gatekeeper, "and then get after it again."

The Silver Shroud had 19 hits on the day, including seven batters with at least two hits. Tutton Gatekeep was on of three with three hits. He doubled and drove in two.

Tenthree Leader had the best day for the Stags, going 3 for 4 with a home run, a run, and two RBI. Dusty Brownell was 3 for 4 with a double, a walk, and a run scored.

Mike Cartrette, who also had two hits, was the winner, pitching 6.1 innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs, walking three, and striking out seven. Spider Caddell suffered the loss despite only allowing four runs, two earned.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hubris Comics Park.

Game 4: Concord 3 at Fort Hagen 1

Concord Breaks Through for First Win in Association Championship; Now Trails 3-1

The Concord Radstags have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, winning 3-1 at Hubris Comics Park today. Radstags right-hander Emperry Alizm threw 7.0 innings of 0-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Radstags to 3-1 in the best-of-7 Association Championship.

The Silver Shroud had trouble solving Alizm, who surrendered one unearned run on no hits over 7.0 innings. Sheffield Williams pitched the final two innings for the save. He allowed the only hit to Ben Pawlak to lead off the 9th.

"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Concord manager Mark Gourdroot. "But Emp [Alizm] was the man."

The Stags' de facto winning run came in the top of the 4th. Alizm helped himself by doubling and then scoring on Pockets Aintfull's RBI single. That made it 2-1.

Fort Hagen's sole run came after Alizm walked Tutton Gatekeeper in the bottom of thee 3rd. Gatekeeper advanced to second on a one-out sacrifice bunt by Derek Green. Well Done Dungan then grounded the ball to SS Sean Koester, but he could not handle it, allowing Gatekeeper to score.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hubris Comics Park.

Game 5: Concord 4 at Fort Hagen 8

Silver Shroud Win Association Championship

Ben Pawlak said he didn't even realize how well he had been playing in the Association Championship until he was shown his own statistics.

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud center fielder put up a .435 average with 0 home runs, 6 RBI and 5 runs scored, enough to earn him series MVP honors. It all added up to his Silver Shroud advancing to the Sole Survivor Series, with a 4-1 series win over the Concord Radstags.

"I didn't really pay attention to the numbers or my stats at all as we went along," he said. "I'm just so focused on trying to help the team win, that's it."

The series victory had become official with a 8-4 triumph at Hubris Comics Park. Even if Pawlak is not paying close attention to his stats, the rest of baseball certainly will be keeping an eye on him as the playoffs continue.

"I like to be under pressure and think I respond well to it," he said.

The Silver Shroud were not into the game early on offense despite the final. They entered the bottom of the 6th trailing 3-0 to Concord starter Tyler Powers. That lead got cut to 3-2 in the inning when Ginger Rogers hit a two-RBI, bases-loaded single.

In the 7th, the Shroud took over. Tutton Gatekeeper led off with a double and advanced to third on Stuart Costantino's single. Powers then walked pinch hitter Andrew Nuka to load the bases. With one out, Mark Miller singled in the tying run. Pawlak then hit a two-RBI single to give Fort Hagen its first lead, 5-3. After Aaron Still came in for Concord, he walked Ginger Rogers to load the bases. Jim Tiller then doubled in two for the 7-3 lead. The Stags were only able to come up with one more run in reply.

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud will play against the Roxbury Rad Sox in the next round. Roxbury won their series against the University Point Deathclaws 4 games to 1. The Sole Survivor Series schedule will be announced after the Association Championship finishes.

A bit of a letdown in terms of series length, but excited for the finals! The Silver Shroud got their revenge for the tiebreaker game while the Rad Sox looked unbeatable in three of the five games. Fort Hagen has their work cut out against the #1 scoring and run prevention team! I think the Rad Sox may roll right through them

Good matchup this year. Also probably should have commented earlier, but just realized how fitting it is the Rad Sox squared off against the Swatters at the start. Anywho, looks like we're seeing a natural transition from certain teams dominating, which is good, instead of continued dominance or just a sudden shift.
