The MLB All-Star Game is just days away and the final rosters are out. For the American League, the Boston Americans placed three starters (Frank Chance, Fred Clarke, and Chick Stahl) and four total players (Noodles Hahn). In the National League, the Boston Beaneaters also placed three starters (Charlie Irwin, George Browne, Jimmy Ryan) and five total players (Pete Dowling and Jimmy Williams). The All-Star Game is a chance for MLB's best to showcase their talents and this should be a fun one to watch.

Normally having a late-inning 3 run lead and ace Noodles Hahn on the mound results in a victory for the Americans. But this is why they play the game, because it only takes just one bounce, bloop, miscue, etc... for the tide to turn. Heading into the bottom of the 8th inning, Hahn had limited the Athletics to 5 harmless hits and appeared to be cruising to a shutout victory. But back-to-back-to-back doubles, coupled to two untimely walks, put Philadelphia (26-41) ahead and they would take the game from Boston (49-18) by a score of 4 to 3.

Button Briggs (7-11) pitched well in the victory, allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits and 3 walks; Game Score of 62. Happy Townsend (6-7) lasted 6 innings after surrendering 7 runs (6 earned) on 9 hits, 1 walk, and 1 hit batsman; Game Score of 29. Kid Carsey pitched the final 3 innings in relief, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits.

The mid-season top prospects list is out, and several recent scouting discoveries are quickly climbing up the ladder. Additionally, the Philadelphia Athletics are stock piling potential future stars, as they currently hold the top spot thanks to having the #4, #7, and #9 prospects, while the Chicago Orphans are ranked last in team farm rankings.

Jack Sutthoff covered the final 2 2/3 innings without allowing a run.

Frank Owen pitched a respectable game (2 earned runs on 10 hits, Game Score of 57) but did not factor into the decision. Rube Kisinger (0-1) was assessed the loss after allowing 2 earned runs on 2 hits in just 1/3 inning of play.

In earning the award, Davis smacked the ball to a .588 tune (10 for 17) with 2 Runs, 3 Doubles, 1 Triple, 7 RBIs, and 1 Walk. Sam Leever (12-3) picked up the win after allowing 3 earned runs on 10 hits and 3 walks; Game Score of 57. Rookie Andy Coakley (7-11) was tagged with the loss, giving up 4 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits, 3 walks, and 1 hit batsman over 7 innings to finish with a Game Score of 50. Reliever Rube Kisinger covered the final inning, allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits. The ageless Cy Young (13-3) continues to baffle the opposition as he allowed just 1 earned run on 4 hits, striking out 7 for a Game Score of 82. Tom Hughes (7-9) was tagged with the loss after giving up 9 runs (2 earned) on 10 hits, 3 walks, 1 hit batsman over 5 1/3 innings for a Game Score of 28. Jack Sutthoff covered the final 2 2/3 innings without allowing a run. The Americans were led at the plate by John Farrell (4 for 4, 1 Run, 3 RBIs), Jesse Hoffmeister (2 for 4, 2 Runs, 1 RBI), Frank Chance (2 for 4, Double, 1 Run), and Jiggs Donahue (1 for 3, Double, 2 Runs, 1 RBI, and 1 Walk). Despite committing 6 errors in the field AND having 6 of its baserunners thrown out while attempting to steal, the Boston Americans (53-18) somehow manager to top the St. Louis Browns (30-41) by a score of 4 to 2. Noodles Hahn (12-6) picked up the win by allowing 2 runs (0 earned) on 10 hits for a Game Score of 66. Frank Owen pitched a respectable game (2 earned runs on 10 hits, Game Score of 57) but did not factor into the decision. Rube Kisinger (0-1) was assessed the loss after allowing 2 earned runs on 2 hits in just 1/3 inning of play.
