Posts Critical of Online Leagues / Members

From time to time you might see a post that is critical of online leagues or certain online league members. For the most part we don't moderate these posts as we think it's important that people have an outlet to voice their less than satisfactory experiences. Just think, maybe one day you or a friend might have a bad experience with an online league and you'd probably want to warn others or you be warned about that league too. We certainly don't want to encourage these posts, but we don't want to ban them either.

As a league you have two options: you can either create new threads until the critical poster gives up and moves on or, preferably, you can just ask more of your league members to post their positive experiences. The latter is preferred because then you won't be seen as spamming the board.

Personally, one poster's negative experience doesn't turn me off of a league and I have to imagine most people are that way too. It's when you get multiple people voicing their displeasure that you really have to give joining that league another thought.

Do we have an official place to post about certain members of a league for commissioners to watch out for?

No.

But one might ask themselves, "why don't more online league members complain about more people?". Other than it probably not being that common of a problem for most leagues, my guess is most probably figure it's just not worth it. If you flame someone, they'll probably flame you back, and then you both may look bad, rightfully or not.

If one were to do something like this, it'd be my preference if commissioners created their own little group and maybe shared, only amongst themselves (to be crystal clear, not here), a google doc of troublemakers with the usernames and emails they've used along with a brief description of the problem that was had with those people. That way, you still get your warning out, if you really feel you should, and at the same time you don't draw the ire of anyone on the list and avoid flame wars here on the boards.

Normally league commissioners check with a pot members old leagues and normally the commish checks with there own members. I do now that if I boot a gm and if this gm is one of those that can cause a lot of issues to were it can harm a league or kill a league I pass on the info to other leagues I'm in and any other commish that I'm in contact with .

Sometimes tho you will boot a gm and they will bash the league and they will post on this forum and just try to be an ass n try to get to stay away just because you booted them for what ever reason, tho I only boot when its absolutely necessary . What I have done in the past as directed by admins, was just direct an admin to the post and not reply to the poster and the admin gets rid of the post and i think warns the user as normally the post isn't just a bad review its vulgar and it goes way past a review its harassment and has no place on any forum.

If its just a bad review then other gms posting or past gms posting in a positive light would be the way to go .

I’d probably have more sympathy for the person above if their “criticism” was more than “it bad lol”.
