Player history disappeared

In the interest of complete transparency, the error I am referencing below occurred in an OOTP23 league I have been playing. I posted about it in the tech support forum for that product but have not seen any response. I understand there is probably not much traffic in that forum or drive to do in depth tech support, which is reasonable. But I am disappointed when I look through the forum and see that, unless I missed something, no administrator has responded to a bug report message in about four months. Still, it is not my place to determine OOTP's business priorities, only to complain about them, which I now have.


I have decided to post the description of the problem here, in hopes that the mechanics of the storage of player history and league transactions is similar between the two versions. If it has changed substantially, of course, please let me know.


With that introduction, here is a description of the problem I am seeing.







I have been running a league in OOTP 23 that started with a MLB based 2022 quickstart league and has currently advanced to 2031. The other day I was playing a game for my team in July 2031 and did not notice any errors at all in OOTP opening, or the playing out of the particular game. But when the game was over and I was looking at news updates for a player from another team that had five hits, I went to look at his player history to try to recall why he was on my player shortlist and found that his player history had disappeared. It turned out that the player history for every player was gone and the message stated that the player history query failed.

I also found in looking around that all of the leagues historical transactions are missing. I have included both of these examples in screen shots below.


I originally thought this was a problem with a corrupted file that erased all previous history, and maybe it did. But even more interesting is that if I perform a transaction that should appear on the file (moving players between minor league levels, for instance), even new transactions will not appear in these reports. Perhaps this means the data is still there but the lookup is not working for some reason.


With those two exceptions, the league still seems to be working properly. All of the players are on the right team and seem to have the right historical stats and ratings. The league seems fully functional, it just does not have any player history associated with it.

I am hoping that you can provide some information about how this query works or what file it uses. Ideally, this file can be fixed or rebuilt if it has been corrupted, or replaced with any earlier version. In addition to the current game (July 2031), I have a full backup of the game from the beginning of the season in April 2031. If a file has been lost or corrupted, I may be able to use an earlier version rather than lose all the progress since. If I know the specific file the data comes from, there may also be an incremental version from my backup software. But I do not know offhand where the data is being pulled from or if it is generated when the league opens, and I have not been able to find any discussion of this in the forum.

Please let me know what I can do to provide any additional data that you need or answer any questions. Any guidance is appreciated.
