Random thought btw, it's kind of not related to the current state of the season, but since we've recently been suggesting more storylines... if you need *one more* story line you should have the Fallout version of the Savannah Bananas. I've always liked them, noticed they've gotten super popular lately, and tbh it would really fit the theme.
As for the state of the season: Even though it's half way and many seem to think the fat lady has already sung, I still think we might get some surprises. Last edited by OrangeP47; 09-23-2023 at 01:51 PM. |

July 2304 - BNN Weekly Report
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 25 July 2304 Analysis We are now 2/3 of the season through, the All-Star game has come and gone, and we can look at the 80 down, 40 to go outlook for the 2304 season. With just 40 games to go, the Roxbury Rad Sox and County Crossing Bloodbugs possess the CBO's two best records. While the Sox have a comfortable lead in the South Charles Association, the Bugs have just a one-game lead on the currently struggling Nordhagen Beach Party Boys. Let's take a look at the Power Rankings. The Rad Sox are #1, possessing a 60-20 record (.750 winning percentage). The loaded team just does not slow down from game to game, even when they have a "down" stretch. In the last two weeks, the Sox went 5-3, getting swept by Jamaica Plain (#3), sweeping Egret (#20), and then winning two of three at FHE (#12) after the break. County Crossing is #2 after winning six straight amid a six-game losing streak by the Boys (#6). The Bloodbugs split with Sunshine Tidings (#7), swept Nordhagen Beach, and then swept Finch Farm (#19) for a 7-1 stretch. At #3, we have the Red Rockets, who went 6-2 the past two weeks and lead the Minutemen League by a game. Jamaica Plain swept the Sox, won two of three at Goodneighbor (#15), and won two of three over Quincy (#21). The team in 2nd place in the Minutemen League, University Point, is #4. In the last eight, the Deathclaws went 4-4, sweeping Vault 81 (#13), losing two of three versus Atom (#9), and then losing two of three at the Hancocks. Easy Town rounds out the Top 5 despite being six games behind the Party Boys for second place in the Brotherhood League. In the last eight, the Assaultrons went 7-1, including sweeps of Lexington (#16) and the Four Leafs and winning two of three at The Slog (#23). Notes: We mentioned trades in the last update, and there have been more with probably a few more to go before the trade deadline in one week. Here are a few known names who have moved on to other teams in the past two weeks: Fort Hagen obtained SS-turned-1B Wally Warwick (.237/3/21) from Jamaica Plain The Red Rockets obtained 1B David Driftwood (.283/18/65) from the Shroud Concord obtained RF Bright Sun Ramos (.285/7/41) from Goodneighbor County Crossing obtained LF Kurt Kilgore (.329/13/55) from Finch Farm The Four Leafs obtained LF Delmarva Illeracula (.276/8/33) from the Bugs County Crossing obtained 1B Zeldolph Violet (.317/14/49) from Starlight The Lady Killers obtained C Biter Trout (.350/3/47) from the Bugs All-Star Game The North Charles Association All-Stars have bragging rights for the year after beating the South Charles Association All-Stars by a score of 4-3 at Drumlin Diner Park in a walk-off win. South Charles Association star Harry Byrd of Vault 81 played a key role in the win, going 2 for 4 to lead his team despite the loss. In the first inning, Byrd hit a three-run home run over Fort Hagen's Derek Green for a 3-0 SCA lead. The NCA got its first runs in the bottom of the 4th off Atom's Matt Rodrigue. Starlight's Zeldolph Violet (note: he was traded following the game) led off with a sole home run. With one out, County Crossing's Taygun Topaloglu doubled and advanced to third on his Bugs teammate Babs Rooth's single. Easy Town's Lannie Tykeson then hit an RBI single to knock in Topaloglu. The NCA evened the score in the 6th with Atom's Scruffy Taguchi on the mound. Nordhagen Beach's Jumper Hayes singled and advanced to second on Red Sone of Sunshine Tidings' sacrifice bunt. With one out, Finch Farm's Pipe Wallcrawler hit an RBI single to make the score 3-3. In the bottom of the 9th, fans got the thrill they were waiting for. With Jamaica Plain closer Doug Dee El on the mound, three NCA youngsters had their chance to shine. Sunshine Tidings' Baktu DaWell led off with a walk and advanced to second on Finch Farm's Orcin Cardinal's single. After the Party Boys' Maxx Murtagh grounded into a 4-6-3 double play, Concord's Dan Erb walked to put runners at the corners with two outs. Lexington's Hurr Lee Reyes then came up to the plate and stroked the first pitch he saw into center field for the walk-off RBI single. Byrd was the only player from either team to have more than one hit. Lifetime Byrd has played in 562 games, batted .309 with 91 home runs and 638 base hits. Other players with extra-base hits in the game included Roxbury's Deerlord Fugivmee and Oberland's Racky Westheim, each with a double. Sunshine Tidings' Cush Baker was credited with a win, while Dee El was the losing pitcher. Diamond City's Josh Samm struck out two batters in his inning of work, leading all pitchers in success. Six of the nine NCA pitchers allowed no hits in their inning pitched. Starting Lineups Standings Team vs Team Power Rankings Players of the Week NCA July 18 - Over the past week, Chris Treestump has feasted on North Charles Association pitching. This season Treestump has 21 home runs and a .282 batting average. July 25 - It was an extraordinary week for Tutton Gatekeeper of the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud. First he goes on a hot hitting streak, batting .800, then he is voted the Player of the Week in the North Charles Association. Last week Gatekeeper went 8-for-10, racked up 2 home runs and 5 RBIs and scored 2 runs. It was a heck of a week for the Fort Hagen third baseman. BNN Monthly Report Last Month in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 August 2304 Month's Outstanding Players CBO NCA Hitter - Ben Pawlak battered North Charles Association pitchers all July and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 27-year-old Pawlak told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 21 games, Pawlak hit .487 with 7 home runs, 29 RBIs and scored 21 runs. Pawlak is batting .382 this season in 85 games with 17 home runs, 68 RBIs and 68 runs scored. He has 124 hits in 325 at-bats. SCA Hitter - The top hitter in the South Charles Association in July was Roxbury left fielder Young Goodman. This season Goodman has delivered 111 hits in 326 at-bats for a .340 average with 24 home runs. He is getting on base at a .432 clip and his totals also include 68 RBIs and 61 runs scored. This year Goodman has played in 85 games. NCA Pitcher - When Whip Lashley takes the hill, he's a good bet to nail down the victory for the County Crossing Bloodbugs. At least that's the way it was in July. He excelled with a 6-0 mark and 1.64 ERA in 6 starts. In 44 innings, he fanned 24 and walked 5. That's why he was honored once again as the Pitcher of the Month by the North Charles Association. This season Lashley has a 14-4 mark in 22 starts with a 2.30 ERA. He has given up 128 hits in 156.1 innings, struck out 100 and issued 26 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .220 batting average against him. SCA Pitcher - Digger Vadim of Jamaica Plain had a tremendous July with a 3-0 mark and was chosen the Pitcher of the Month in the South Charles Association. Vadim restricted opposing hitters to 45 base hits and a .265 batting average. He rang up 45 strikeouts in 44.2 innings of work, surrendered 8 walks, and crafted a 1.81 ERA. In 22 starts this season Vadim has recorded a 13-2 record and a 2.16 ERA. NCA Rookie - Youngster Was Renti emerged as the latest North Charles Association Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Salem deserved the honor, batting .276 with 2 home runs and 8 runs batted in. Is the month of July a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Renti enjoy the limelight. This year Renti is batting .217 with 66 hits and 2 home runs. He has scored 33 times and has batted in 22 runs. SCA Rookie - Diamond Ball is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In July the Spectacle Island hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .301 average with 25 hits, 5 home runs and 13 RBIs. Thus far this year Ball is hitting .315 with 29 home runs, 58 RBIs and 60 runs scored. BMU CA Hitter - C3-88 Puppetboy put together a good July to earn the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Breakheart Banks officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Behemoths left fielder posted a .383 batting average with 9 home runs, 18 RBIs and 17 runs scored. This season Puppetboy is batting .297 with 41 RBIs, 38 runs scored and 18 home runs. MA Hitter - Charles View Cannibals fans believe they've got a talented young star in Kenry Batray. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in July, as he hit .403 with 7 home runs, 21 RBIs and 19 runs scored. The end result was the right fielder being named the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month. On the year Batray has hit .342 with 20 home runs, 51 RBIs and scored 50 runs. CA Pitcher - Kyle Schenk was on cloud nine the entire month of July, capping it off with the Commonwealth Association Pitcher of the Month honors. The Greentop Nursery starter was spectacular in 5 starting assignments with 3 wins and no losses, 34.1 innings pitched, 17 strikeouts and a fine 2.10 ERA. This season Schenk has crafted a 9-3 mark with a 3.40 ERA in 103.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .266 against him and he has 62 strikeouts. MA Pitcher - The Somerville Place Sentry Bots owe John Oldsink a lot for his performance this past month. One of the league's most dominant starters in July, Oldsink tore up the opposition with a fine 3-1 mark on his way to the Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Month award. "When you're pitching this well," analyzed Oldsink, "it's a lot easier to come to the park. I don't judge my performance by the stats, I judge it -- the team judges it -- by the score of the game. I could say I'm tossing electric stuff right now and that would go over big. But if I toss that same stuff -- exact same pitch selection and location -- and they bang me around tomorrow, I was awful. That's the way baseball is." It was Oldsink who did the banging in July as he tossed up 20 strikeouts in 32 innings, holding opponents to a .173 average and posting a 1.41 ERA. GBRL NL Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Greater Boston Rookie League, Knife Bowie put up some good numbers in July and earned the NL Batter of the Month award. He was one of Arlington's offensive leaders with a .444 average in 18 games. He also racked up 9 home runs, 23 RBIs, and 25 runs scored. For the year Bowie is batting .332 with 30 home runs, 70 RBIs and 63 runs scored. SL Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 20 Justin Sauerkraut has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Mass Pike Radroaches star can enjoy the numbers he put up in July, which have garnered him the nod as the South League Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .344 average with 13 home runs, 22 RBIs and 19 runs scored. This year Sauerkraut has hit at a .317 pace and produced 60 RBIs, 33 home runs and scored 51 runs. NL Pitcher - The North League made it official today -- Darryl Archideld of the Sanctuary Hills Zetans is the Pitcher of the Month. In July he impressed the sportswriters with his domination of league hitters. Archideld made 5 starts, registered 5 wins and no losses with a solid 2.95 ERA. In 36.2 innings he allowed 38 hits, racked up 38 strikeouts, walked 10 and permitted teams to hit .279 against him. This season, Archideld has fashioned a 13-3 mark and 2.98 ERA in 127 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .240 against him and he has logged 128 strikeouts. SL Pitcher - Cham Syndulla is the latest South League Pitcher of the Month award winner. The Hyde Park starter stood out on the hill time and again last month and finished July with a sparkling 3-0 record. In 3 starts last month, he fanned 16, walked 8 in 24.2 innings and posted a 0.36 ERA. Syndulla held opposing teams to a .239 batting average when he was on the mound. Syndulla has a 3-2 season record so far. In 8 starts, he has fanned 21 batters in 34 innings with a 2.65 ERA. BYDL NR Hitter - Pleasant Minigunners fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in July. Keg Gutterson put up a remarkable month at the age of 16 and has been named the North Region Batter of the Month. For the month, Gutterson hit .421 with 9 home runs, 23 RBIs and 23 runs scored. So far this year Gutterson is batting .347 with 21 home runs. SR Hitter - Tuck Wilson has a lot going for him. The Thompson Heights third baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the South Region has just picked him as its top hitter for July. In 20 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .467 with 9 home runs, 23 RBIs and 24 runs scored. On the season, Wilson is batting .374 with 25 home runs and 64 RBIs. He has played in 74 games. NR Pitcher - July's top hurler was Paul Stains of North Charles Bank. He shackled North Region hitters the entire month and claimed the Pitcher of the Month award with a sparkling 5-0 mark. The 15-year-old Stains added 88 strikeouts in 49.2 innings and 10 walks to his season record and compiled a 1.63 ERA. Other clubs hit .234 against him. Stains has made 20 starts this season, posting 14 wins and 3 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .215 against him and he has 204 strikeouts in 146.2 innings with a 1.78 ERA. SR Pitcher - Hard John Horvath was the best pitcher in July according to the voters. He severely shut down opposition batters to win the South Region Pitcher of the Month Award. Spectacle Island's star reliever compiled a 4-0 mark and an ERA of 2.12 in 46.2 innings with 46 strikeouts and no saves in no save opportunities. This year Horvath has no saves. In no relief appearances he has hurled 138 innings, fanned 152 and given up 41 walks with a 14-2 record. The Spectacle Island reliever has recorded a 2.48 ERA and allowed the opposition to hit .216 when he is in the game. CCYL - Top Award Winners MVP - Carlos Lars-Mars of the Truro Hatchlings proved that you can step out of the shadows and onto the stage if you've got the talent and the drive to hone your skills. Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off for him today in the form of the Cape Cod Youth League Most Valuable Player Award. Lars-Mars hit for a .297 average while collecting 38 hits, 10 doubles, no triples, 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and scoring 17 times. He received 6 first place votes out of a possible 8. He crafted a standout 6-2 mark in 10 starts, striking out 69, while walking 10. He worked 69 innings, yielded 32 hits and posted a 1.30 ERA. Opposing clubs had a .137 average against him. But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Wellfleet Settlement Beacons reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2304 Cape Cod Youth League Reliever of the Year Award. "I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Cochituate, Massachusetts native said. For the season, Terror had 12 saves in 18 relief appearances, which totaled 23.2. He fanned 40 betters, while walking 4 and put up a record of 1-0 to go with his 0.38 ERA. He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Omari Rahmings of the Nauset Beach Lurk Hunters finished second in voting, while Gree Campos of the Chatham Lighthouse finished third. At the age of 14, many players are still trying to find their way in Providence Junior Pro League. Sarethi has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the Providence Junior Pro League Most Valuable Player Award. "I didn't expect to hit .335 this year, that's for sure," the first baseman said. The West Seekonk Quahog star also put up a .376 on-base percentage this year, with 52 hits, 12 doubles, no triples, 10 home runs, 30 RBIs and 22 runs scored. He received 4 first place votes out of a possible 6. His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 14-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Providence Junior Pro League Reliever of the Year Award for 2304. Season Pass Association News and Notes
Oops! I just realized there was no 1 July update on the Season Pass Association and now they are almost finished. I guess these leagues are irrelevant though their talent pools keep rising.
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 1 August 2304 Final Month Outlook With one month (15 games) left to go in the season, the Victory Cave Crickets of the North Bradberton Division and the Quartz Star Force of the South Bradberton Division look to be fully in control to claim their divisions and move on to the Nuka Series. The Cave Crickets possess a seven-game lead with their magic number at 9. Victory is first in the NWL in runs scored (433) and third in runs allowed (360). They are outscoring opponents per game 5.77 to 4.8, almost a full run per game. On offense, a trio of CBO castoffs have been leading the charged offense. Though he is not eligible for awards, the trade for LF Jarrett Metalbox (.487/3/18 in 19 games) has helped the Victory offense become more potent. 1B Settler Colon (.372/5/38) and RF Sam Noob (.333/14/54) are also heave contributors. Runs have come a lot, so the 4.01 Starters ERA is tops in the NWL. The Crickets are led by a trio of starters in Jesse Emancipated (8-7, 4.11), John Diner (7-6, 3.85), and Laurence Crash (10-6, 4.20). The bullpen is not as good with the 7th-best or 2nd-to-last ERA (5.67). One successful pitcher has been closer Daron Hendrix (1 SV, 3.66) who recently took over the role from Ryan Bugg (19 SV, 4.54) who moved into a starting role after the season-ending injury to SP Chad Hartwig (6-7, 3.93). Quartz has a balance atop the statistics in both runs scored (2nd with 397) and runs allowed (2nd with 340). However, they are not as successful at blowing away their opponents and lead Cherry by only four games in the South Bradberton Division. The Star Force success on offense has partially come from being the NWL leaders in home runs (86). The two biggest contributors to that power are 2B Brad Krol (.311/18/62) and 1B Thinker Brown (.301/15/50), Other contributors include RF Step Chaver (.374/9/38) and 3B Daniel Rousseaux (.359/5/48) but this is a good lineup throughout their starting eight. The Force's starters are 3rd in ERA (4.53) and their bullpen is 1st (4.00). None of their current starters, though look outstanding in their numbers, though the Force can be considered a force: SP Craig Widmar (5-6, 4.00), Chris Yao (8-4, 4.13), and Tyrese Dyers (8-6, 4.64). CL Salacious Thames (17 SV, 3.18) and RP David Gusman (2-0, 2.41) lead the bullpen. Standings Top Players in May NWL Hitter - Bumper Robinson made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Nuka World League this past month. The Grape Painted Ghouls center fielder shined through the month of July and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 25-year-old hit .423 with 7 home runs, 33 RBIs and 18 runs scored. This year Robinson is batting .360 with 103 hits, 16 home runs, 61 RBIs, 27 walks, .421 OBP and has scored 54 runs. NWL Pitcher - July's #1 hurler was Joe Penaltybox of Cherry. He gunned down Nuka World League hitters the whole month and claimed the Pitcher of the Month award. The Ghoulrillas star piled up 5 wins and 1 loss to take the honor. The 37-year-old Penaltybox added 27 strikeouts in 46.2 innings and 8 walks to his season record and compiled a 3.09 ERA. Other clubs hit .298 against him. So far this season Penaltybox has 9 wins and 6 losses and a 3.76 ERA. NWL Rookie - In July, budding star Jarrett Metalbox had quite a month as he smashed up the Nuka World League and stashed away the Rookie of the Month award in his trophy case. During the month he hit .487 with 9 doubles, 1 triple and 3 home runs. Metalbox also scored 17 times and drove in 18 runs. So far this year Metalbox has hit .487 with 3 home runs, 18 RBIs and 17 runs scored. APL Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Hunter Wilde certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the APL Batter of the Month award for July. The 25-year-old second baseman for the Dry Rock Gulch Convicts hit .320 with 9 home runs, 21 RBIs and 20 runs scored. In 2304 Wilde has hit at a .333 clip with 55 hits, 14 home runs, 35 RBIs and has scored 34 times. APL Pitcher - Deuce Slappe of the Galactic Zone G-Force was on top of his game the entire month of July, capping it off with the Amusement Park League Pitcher of the Month honors. He was outstanding in 7 starts with 5 wins and 1 loss, 41.1 IP, 23 strikeouts and a fine 2.83 ERA. To date this year, Slappe shows a 12-3 record, 19 starts, 108 innings, 77 strikeouts and a 3.75 ERA. NWLRL Hitter - When Name Olarti stepped up to the plate in July he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the NWL Rookie League Batter of the Month award. The young Quartz B third baseman posted a .407 batting average with 11 home runs, 31 RBIs and scored 31 runs. Olarti also worked pitchers for 18 walks to post a .518 on-base percentage. Olarti is hitting .386 this year with 11 home runs, 32 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has 39 hits in 101 at-bats, 22 walks and a .516 on-base percentage. Olarti has played in 35 games. NWLRL Pitcher - What Mike Grubb of the Orange B Tourists did to NWL Rookie League hitters in July was criminal. He assaulted them, broke them and walked off leaving them lifeless and lost as he stole away with the Pitcher of the Month award for his barbaric behavior. "Grubb was truly dominant out there," an opposing hitter said to reporters. "He really made hitters miserable." The 22-year-old reliever threw 30.2 innings in 11 relief appearances as he registered 6 saves, 12 strikeouts, and notched a 5-1 record and 3.52 ERA for the month. This season, Grubb has 6 saves in 11 relief appearances with a 5-2 mark and 3.43 ERA. BBL MVP - Os Cazadore of the Fizztop Mountain Conquerors had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Most Valuable Player Award for 2304. The 16-year-old first baseman put up a .382 average and a .472 on-base percentage, piling up 52 hits, 8 doubles, no triples, 26 home runs, 42 RBIs and 45 runs scored. He received 5 first place votes out of a possible 8. Rush Clovis of the Ol Sugartop Buckaroos finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Isaiah Haircutter of the King Cola Youths finished third. Player - Team - First Place - Total Points Os Cazadore - Fizztop Mountain Conquerors - 5 - 97 Rush Clovis - Ol Sugartop Buckaroos - 3 - 87 Isaiah Haircutter - King Cola Youths - 0 - 58 Robber Jannah - South Bradberton Tycoons - 0 - 58 Shi Tyuknot - Fizztop Mountain Conquerors - 0 - 49 Gil Nukalurk - Ol Sugartop Buckaroos - 0 - 38 Maia Bonteri - Ol Sugartop Buckaroos - 0 - 31 Vanden Willard - Mad Mulligan Travelers - 0 - 22 Wedge Anthill - Starport Nuka Hubologists - 0 - 11 Karyn Faro - Starport Nuka Hubologists - 0 - 8 Delian Mors - Fizztop Mountain Conquerors - 0 - 6 Albie Splashdown - South Bradberton Tycoons - 0 - 4 Gideon Hask - Wixon Shovels - 0 - 3 BBL Top Pitcher - Bradberton Boys League hitters didn't have much of a chance in the 2304 season when the Starport Nuka manager wrote "Bug Manigault" on the lineup card. Outing after outing, he held teams in check and usually got a win. He excelled with a 3-2 mark and 2.40 ERA in 11 starts, tossed 56.1 innings, fanned 66 and held opposing teams to a .191 average. For his superb season Manigault was today named the BBL Pitcher of the Year Award winner. He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 8. Dave Weathersby of the Wixon Shovels finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Luke Galaxy of the Mad Mulligan Travelers finished third. The reliever was today named the BBL Reliever of the Year Award winner for 2304. He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 8 saves in 14 relief appearances and 19 strikeouts in 15 innings. He had a record of 0-0 to go with his 0.60 ERA. He received 5 first place votes out of a possible 8. Tony Crews of the Mad Mulligan Travelers finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Dick Tracy of the King Cola Youths finished third. Player - Team - First Place - Total Points Alex G-force - King Cola Youths - 5 - 32 Tony Crews - Mad Mulligan Travelers - 3 - 30 Dick Tracy - King Cola Youths - 0 - 10 Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail Crawlers, Atoms Vault into Division Leads The Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers (43-32) and Grand Hotel Atoms (45-30) each validate their vanguard positions, leading their divisions by four games with 15 to venture. Other teams vaulting into contention in August include Eden Meadows (39-36), Echo Lake (38-37), and Far Harbor (41-34), while the other three teams are on the verge of elimination. Visually inspecting the Fog Crawlers of the Fog Division, they vault to 2nd in runs scored (421) and victoriously sit 1st in runs allowed (308). Offensive virtuosos include LF James Darling (.336/16/46), C Bill O'Connor (.304/11/38), and SS Chris Huffsettler (.322/8/51). Venturing into recent trades, acquired 3B Ryan Morris (.429/8/25) has been voraciously vibrant in his 25 games since voyaging from the CBO's University Point Deathclaws. For pitchers, the Crawlers vaunt the best Starters ERA (3.53) and are the 2nd-best in Bullpen ERA (4.48). Valiantly keeping that Starters ERA low are SP Phil Cecil (8-6, 3.36), Justin Wentworth (11-6, 3.53), and Cry Baby Uribe (5-1, 2.83). However, Ace Kyle Hooch (7-8, 4.25) hasn't validated the same valor. In the bullpen, RP Bryan Sines (2-2, 4.15) could be viewed as the most viable over the full season, while CL Jumbo Cleveland (11 SV, 6.00) has vacillated. Grand Hotel voices the best offense in the Vim! League with 438 runs scored, while they vacate the 3rd position in runs allowed (389). They are vigorously led by two veteran players who've been volcanically dominant: 1B Clean Mullis (.343/23/81) and 3B Danny Pineda (.357/17/70). A vibrant volunteer acquired from the Wild Gatorclaws of the NWL, 2B Rick Herbst (.422/0/8), has vividly boosted the team batting average of .300. The Atoms starters volley to 3rd in ERA (4.58), and their Bullpen ERA vaults to 4th (4.96). The venerable trio of starters--Nick Glawe (9-3, 3.73), Pat Greer (10-7, 4.51), and Tim Aren't (7-4, 4.15)--could be the vital difference-makers in Grand Hotel's voyage for their first Vim! Series title. Venerable Closer Little Rat Swickard (9 SV, 1.59) has been, by a vast margin, the Atoms best bullpen pitcher. Standings Outstanding Players in May (from BNN reports) VL Hitter - Jarrod Sebiess may be much younger than other hitters in the Vim! League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in July to win the Batter of the Month award. The 25-year-old Far Harbor second baseman hit .402 with 12 home runs, 24 RBIs and 26 runs scored. This season Sebiess is batting .388 with 116 hits, 20 home runs, 64 RBIs, 26 walks, .433 OBP and has scored 58 runs. He has played in 75 games. VL Pitcher - When the Fog Crawlers skipper wrote Uribe on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in July he took command and usually got the win. He dominated with a 5-1 mark and 2.87 ERA in 7 starts. The gifted Fog Crawlers star pitched 47 innings, fanned 28 and held opposing teams to a .260 average. For his excellent mound work Uribe was named the VIML Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. This season Uribe has compiled a 5-1 mark with a 2.83 ERA. VL Rookie - Jarrod Sebiess earned July's Rookie of the Month honors in the Vim! League for last month's performance. The boyish Far Harbor second baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level. Sebiess hit .402 with 12 home runs, 24 RBIs and 26 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award. On the year Sebiess is hitting .388 with 116 hits, 20 home runs, 64 RBIs, .433 OBP and has scored 58 runs. MDIL Hitter - Whear Flynn is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Eagle's Cove second baseman joined that select company when the Mount Desert Island League announced the results of July's voting. Flynn totaled 34 hits, 17 walks, 6 home runs, 22 RBIs and 28 runs scored last month to put together a .386 batting average and .477 on-base percentage. To date, Flynn has collected 99 hits for a .357 average. He has posted 16 home runs, scored 62 runs and driven in 58 runs. MDIL Pitcher - The July Pitcher of the Month has been chosen and the Mount Desert Island League award went to Eagle's Cove hurler, Covington Ti. During the month, Ti was impressive with a 2.20 ERA and 4 wins and no losses. In 16.1 innings he struck out 14 and gave up 8 hits and 6 walks. Up to now Ti has recorded a record of 6-2. In 0 starts he has fanned 32 batters in 33 innings with a 3.55 ERA. VRL Hitter - At only 22 years of age, Do-Good Wilkerson could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Huntress Island Ug-Qualtoths, as July was one to remember for the third baseman and he has captured the VIM! Rookie League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .477 with 17 home runs, 40 RBIs and 41 runs scored. This season Wilkerson is swinging the bat at a .466 pace. He has hit 23 home runs and scored 50 times, while driving in 53. His on-base percentage is .560 and he has played in 38 games. VRL Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month Award has been picked and the VIM! Rookie League victor is Vim Factory relief ace, Biscuit Catalano. For his solid outings in July he has been named the league's premier pitcher. During the month, the Pops star had 11 saves in 13 save opportunities, a 4.66 ERA and 3 wins and 1 loss. In 19.1 innings Catalano struck out 30 and gave up 16 hits and 5 walks. So far this season Catalano has chalked up a 4.43 ERA with 13 saves. In 19 relief appearances he has registered a 3-2 won-lost record and struck out 34 batters in 22.1 innings, while walking 6. He has allowed teams to hit .241 against him. MYL MDIF MVP - The manager of the National Park Rangers said he thinks Kaydel Ko-Connix is only going to get better as he gets older. He may only be 16, but it will be hard to top the left fielder's 2304 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the Mount Desert Island Four Most Valuable Player Award. His winning campaign featured a .258 batting average and a .343 on-base percentage this year. In 38 games he piled up 32 hits, 4 doubles, no triples, 9 home runs, 19 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He received 6 first place votes out of a possible 8. John Glowing of the National Park Rangers finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Slowen Lo of the Cliff's Edge Wolves finished third. For his spectacular campaign, the Pleasant Cove Raiders star has been named the 2304 Great Diamond Island League Most Valuable Player Award recipient. "To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the first baseman. On the season he compiled a .306 batting average to go with a .370 on-base percentage. The native of Stamford, Connecticut also added 8 doubles, no triples, 11 home runs, 16 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Posting 4 wins and a 1.74 ERA was only part of the story for the National Park superstar. For his outstanding performance in 2304 he was chosen as the Mount Desert Island Four Pitcher of the Year Award winner. From start to finish Sonnel never let up. In 10 starts he recorded 4 wins and 1 loss, 67.1 innings, 69 strikeouts, 11 walks, yielded 51 hits, and permitted opposing batters to hit .205 against him. He received 4 first place votes out of a possible 8. With a record of 4-1, Jannick was certainly a worthy winner. He made 5 starts and rang up 45 innings, 43 strikeouts and a 1.40 ERA. He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Temiri Blagg of the Pleasant Cove Raiders finished second in voting, while Mumbles Hoffman of the Sunset Park Anglers finished third. The future appears bright for the National Park Rangers relief ace, who captured the award with no saves in 13 relief appearances, 9 strikeouts in 15.1 innings and a record of 0-0 to go with his 1.17 ERA. He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 8. But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Echo Point Glowers rising star has won the Great Diamond Island League Reliever of the Year Award for 2304. He captured the award on the strength of his 2.40 ERA over 30 innings. He also had 13 saves in 21 relief appearances, 29 strikeouts and only 7 walks. Hey, I wouldn't say irrelevant! It is good to know that the the players are getting better. I like when universes have a deep crop of lesser/independent league teams that gives the non-stars another chance to carve out a career. Have many of these guys made their way into the CBO?

Cronin Story
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 2 August 2304 Moe Cronin: A Sentimental Swatter Moe Cronin, the owner of the Diamond City Swatters, is known for his tough, no-nonsense persona. But beneath that gruff exterior beats the heart of a true baseball aficionado, as revealed in an unexpected turn of events this week. Cronin, who's been pushing to make his beloved Swatters a younger and more dynamic team, found himself caught in a whirlwind of emotions as he considered trading away some of his long-serving players. Two players in question who had been on the trading block, pitcher City Moore and second baseman Jim Synthseeker, both well into their thirties, were seemingly on the chopping block to make room for fresh talent. However, as he looked over the roster and contemplated the deal, it became clear that Cronin was experiencing a change of heart. "Stop crowdin' my desk," he grumbled during a press conference, evoking his signature Boston-style vernacular. "Yeah, yeah," he continued, reflecting on the pressure to make changes. These players, who have donned the Swatters' uniform for years, have become more than just assets to Cronin. In a candid moment during an interview, Cronin confided, "Now, now. Let me be clear. I want it. You bet your socks I do. But I'm a collector. Them boys is like my oldest homemade swatters, invaluable." This glimpse into Cronin's sentimental side sheds light on the inner struggle he's been facing. When pressed about his decision to halt the trade, he shrugged and admitted, "Hey, you might not care, but I have to talk to these people every day." It's evident that the rapport he shares with Moore and Synthseeker weighed heavily on his decision. Financial considerations also played a part in Cronin's change of heart. "Well, sales have been down this month... Ugh. All right," he begrudgingly acknowledged, hinting at the complexities of managing a baseball team in the Commonwealth and continuing his Swatters, Inc. business. Cronin's attachment to his players became even more apparent when discussing the team's struggles. "What? Never seen their handiwork walking all over the Commonwealth?" he exclaimed, alluding to the success Moore and Synthseeker have had over the years. "And if you're smart, you won't go blabbing that around. That is mud in a lot of people's eyes." Synthseeker, the Swatters' seasoned second baseman, seemed to have particularly earned Cronin's respect. Cronin couldn't help but draw parallels to a legendary figure from the past, saying, "Oh, if only old Ice-Eyes Julie could see that steely gaze of yours. She might have finally met her match." Cronin would not elaborate on who Ice-Eyes Julie was. He just mentioned that she was “legendary.” The decision to retain Moore and Synthseeker wasn't purely sentimental; Cronin recognized their continued contributions to the team. "You bet your socks they do," he declared, acknowledging their value. "Now how about you pick up a little memento in the form of a genuine Swatter?" As for the future of the Diamond City Swatters, Cronin remains tight-lipped but hinted at his ongoing commitment to the sport. "That right, Miss Smarty-Pants? If you're such an expert, how do you think it was handled?" he challenged with a knowing grin. Cronin's journey from the brink of trading his beloved players to a sentimental savior of the Swatters has been nothing short of a baseball saga. In a world where survival often takes precedence, it's heartwarming to witness the enduring power of sportsmanship and camaraderie in the heart of Diamond City. Now let’s see if Moore and Synthseeker spur the Swatters to a return to glory.

August 2304 - BNN Weekly Report
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 8 August 2304 Analysis As we hit the 75% mark of the season with 90 games down and 30 to go, we now have a much clearer picture of who will be in, who may be in, and who is definitely out in our first true look at the playoff picture. With just six weeks to play in the 2304 season, there are three divisional races and a few teams still alive for a wildcard spot. Let's look at the Power Rankings and then the Playoff Outlook. The red-hot County Crossing Bloodbugs enter this week as #1, having gone 9-1 in their last 10, possessing a seven-game winning streak, and keeping an edge in the Brotherhood League for the NCA's best record. The Bugs swept Starlight (#20), won two of three over The Slog (#23), swept Fort Hagen (#8), and swept Easy Town (#9). The Bloodbugs' BL rival, Nordhagen Beach, is #2. The Party Boys are also hot, going 8-2 in their last 10 with a sweep over Abernathy (#24), winning two of three over Finch Farm (#19), a sweep of the Lady Killers, and another two of three series over the Four Leafs. Dropping two spots but still in possession of the CBO's best record is Roxbury at #3 after a 5-5 stretch. The Rad Sox were swept at Jamaica Plain (#5), won two of three against Vault 81 (#12), split at Spectacle Island (#22), and won two of three at Diamond City (#7). The hottest team in the South Charles Association, University Point, comes in at #4 after an 8-2 stretch that sees them in sole possession of the Minutemen League. The Claws split at FHE (#11), won two of three at the Rockets, swept Oberland (#18), and swept the Reapers for their current five-game winning streak. The Red Rockets round out the Top 5 after going 6-4, though they fell behind the Deathclaws by a game in the ML. In their last 10, the Rockets swept Roxbury, won one of three versus the Claws, split at the Swatters, and won two of three at Goodneighbor (#15). Playoff Outlook If the playoffs were to start today, these would be the seeds in the playoffs: NCA - 1) County Crossing, 2) Sunshine Tidings, 3) Nordhagen Beach, 4) Fort Hagen, 5) Easy Town SCA - 1) Roxbury, 2) University Point, 3) Jamaica Plain, 4) Diamond City, 5) Atom NCA Outlook - The five seem to be set with the Assaultrons holding a 10-game lead on both Concord and Lexington for the wildcard spot. While either Easy Town or Fort Hagen could technically collapse, we do not see either the Radstags or Synths suddenly surging into relevancy. The only stories left in the NCA is the jostling for position with County Crossing leading the Party Boys by two games in the Brotherhood League and Sunshine Tidings leading the Silver Shroud by three games in the Insitute League. Current prediction: What you see is what you get and the five seeds as they are now will be the same when the playoffs begin. SCA Outlook - There is a potential wildcard battle with the Cats leading FHE by two games and Vault 81 by four. While we would consider the Dwellers to be the most talented team of the three, they are also the most injured. Vault 81 traded away star RF Aesed Haejin and two of their other powerhouse offensive players in 3B Knud Bather and 2B Harry Byrd are out for the month of August. While the Yao Guai could surpass Atom, they could also probably use some help. The Minutemen League divisional race will be exciting with the Deathclaws and Red Rockets only a game apart. Jamaica Plain has relied on dominant pitching as the best squad in Starters ERA (2.71) and 2nd in runs allowed (285), while University Point is the most dominant offensive team in runs scored (486). These two teams meet up one more time from September 9-11 with the Claws leading the series, 5-4. The Railroad League race is all but over with the Rad Sox and Swatters pretty sure to finish 1-2 in the league. Roxbury has a Magic Number of 17 with 30 to play; they will not collapse. Current prediction: Just like the SCA, we are predicting the Deathclaws to edge out the ML championship and see the playoff seeds hold throughout the end of the season. If we had to shake up the predictions, let's call for the Yao Guai to claim the 5th seed over the Atom Cats. Standings Team vs Team Power Rankings Players of the Week NCA August 1 - His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Ben Pawlak was rewarded with the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. The scrappy Fort Hagen Silver Shroud center fielder hit .500 while collecting 9 hits in 18 at-bats, 4 home runs and 13 RBIs. This season Pawlak is batting at a .382 clip with 17 home runs and 68 RBIs. August 8 - Michael Fogcrawler of the Party Boys relied on a sharp eye and a quick bat to outpace all other North Charles Association hitters last week and collect the Player of the Week Award. He hit .600 with 12 hits in 20 at-bats, 6 home runs and 9 RBIs. In 90 games this season Fogcrawler is batting .288 with 103 hits and 29 home runs. He has scored 74 runs and driven in 67. SCA August 1 - The top batter in the South Charles Association last week was Young Goodman, who batted .474 and towered above everybody with a 5-game hitting barrage. During the week Goodman banged out a .474 batting average (9-for-19), 2 home runs, 9 runs batted in and scored 3 runs. Today the Roxbury left fielder received the SCA Player of the Week Award. During the current season Goodman is batting at a .340 clip with 24 home runs and 68 RBIs. He has played in 85 games and scored 61 times. August 8 - Today the South Charles Association announced its Player of the Week Award winner -- University Point Deathclaws center fielder Aesed Hayjen, who batted .591 (13-for-22) with 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Hayjen is hitting at a .293 mark this season. His stats show 25 home runs, 44 RBIs and 76 runs scored. He has played 90 games for the Deathclaws. I'll put off the new league until 2306, but there is a market.

Granted, I don't doubt the other teams. There are a lot of duds who look good in the potentials box.

Season Pass Baseball
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 18 August 2304 NWL Regular Season Concludes Another regular season is in the books, and the playoffs will begin in a couple of days. It will be a battle of survival -- and the final survivor will be the Nuka World League champions. The "haves" will be in their radiant glory, playing for the league title, while the "have-nots" will be at home, sitting by the hot stove until springtime. The season came down to an extra day of thrills after the Cherry Ghoulrillas caught up to the Quartz Star Force in the South Bradebrton Division in the first season of divisions in the NWL. The Ghoulrillas then defeated the Force, 6-2, in the tiebreaker. Mike Coombaya (8-10, 4.02) pitched his best game of the season, allowing just one earned run on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts in 7.0 innings. Brad Krol added his 21st home run of the season, one short of the NWL HR title, to lead the Cherry offense. In the North Bradberton Division, the Victory Cave Crickets had long been waiting to see who they would face in the Nuka Series. The Crickets have had a topsy-turvy last couple of season, winning the Nuka Series in 2302 and then finishing in last place in the NWL in 2303. They now return to the Series to try to defeat the 2303 champions in the Ghoulrillas, who happened to defeat Quartz last season. Regardless of the winner, this 6th season of the NWL will have one thing it has not had yet: a repeat champion. Quartz, the Quantum Nukalurks, the Grape Painted Ghouls, Victory, and Cherry were the winners of each season's Nuka Series. Looking ahead to the matchup, it will be the NWL's best offense (Victory) vs the NWL's best pitching staff (Cherry). In a league overpowered by offense, that seems to give the Cave Crickets the advantage. Victory is 1st in every offensive category but stolen bases (7th at 52). That includes a .332 team batting average and 105 home runs. The big boon was the acquisition of former CBO star, LF Jarrett Metalbox (.493/10/37 in 34 games). Around him, the Crickets have other contributors powering their offense in batting champion 1B Settler Colon (.409/8/50), 3B John Parsons (.403/5/47), RF Sam Noob (.347/19/74), and CF Brotherseven Dadson (.371/12/33). On the mound, the Cave Crickets were tied for 3rd in runs allowed (439), had the 2nd-best Starters ERA (4.26), and had the 5th-best Bullpen ERA (5.23). Victory has several injuries coming into the playoffs, including staff ace John Diner (9-6, 3.75) and SP Chad Hartwig (6-7, 3.93). Getting the starts, then, are SP Jesse Emacipated (10-8, 3.92), SP Laurence Crash (11-7, 4.97), and RP Slapper Batstick (1-1, 4.32). CL Ryan Bugg (19 SV, 5.10) leads the bullpen. Cherry finished the season 4th in runs scored (461) and 6th in team batting (.300). Most of the offensive production is due to LF/RP Mark Knight (.365/14/44) in his first season as a starter. Other contributors include 1B Random Lurkcakes (.323/3/28), 3B Andy Knickson (.312/7/44), and C Ricardo Vega (.326/2/52). The Ghoulrillas' pitching has been their best squad, finishing 1st in runs allowed (393), 1st in Starters ERA (3.94), and 3rd in Bullpen ERA (4.65). SP Joe Penaltybox (12-6, 3.55) leads the starters, followed by Travis Armstrong (7-8, 3.96) and Mike Coombaya (8-10, 4.02). Cherry also sports a two-closer system with CL Art Armstrong (10 SV, 3.99) and CL Gooseberry Fullwallet (2 SV, 3.86) leading the bullpen charge. Final Standings Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail 19 August 2304 Dalton Farm, Far Harbor Victorious in Vim! Divisional Races The Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers and Far Harbor Ghoul Whales venture as the victorious divisional vanquishers of the 2304 races. The Crawlers vanquished the Fog Division with a nine-game void over both the Eden Meadows Anglers and Echo Lake Harbormen. Venturing into the Harbor Division, the Ghoul Whales vanquished Grand Hotel, 15-5, to vindicate the tiebreaker. Both the Fog Crawlers and Ghoul Whales are venturing toward their second Vim! Series victory. Far Harbor visited the Vim! Series venue in the Vim! League's virgin season in 2301, vanquishing the Brooke's Head Behemoths, 4 games to 0. Dalton Farm is vaulting into its third straight Vim! Series, victimized by the Echo Lake Harbormen in 2302 and vanquishing the Rayburn Point Patcheyes in 2303. Dalton Farm also voyaged to victory in the Season Pass Series, vexing the Cherry Ghoulrillas, 4 games to 0. The Gwhales vanished, falling 4 games to 3 to the Grape Painted Ghouls in their virgin voyage to the Season Pass Series. The Fog Crawlers validated a 1st place finish in runs scored (526) and vetoed opponents vigorously, being 1st in runs allowed (371) in the Vibrant Vim! League. On offense, they are led by LF James Darling (.348/21/67), 3B Ryan Morris (.395/15/40 in 40 games after being ventured from University Point), and RF Mat Sutor (.306/13/40). The vivacious pitching staff ventures a three-headed volcano at starting pitcher with Kyle Hooch (9-9, 3.75), Phil Cecil (10-6, 3.43), and Justin Wentworth (14-6, 3.54). SP Cry Baby Uribe (7-2, 3.56) vacates to the bullpen and Dalton Farm vows to vex better performances from CL Jumbo Cleveland (11 SV, 5.65). For Far Harbor, they verified a 2nd place finish in runs scored (519) and 4th in runs voided against (486). Two players vividly stood out for the Ghoul Whales in 2304: 2B Jarrod Sebiess (.388/24/84) and CF Drew Buntrock (.329/21/75). Other valued contributors include LF Blu Funman (.348/9/52) and RF Adam Crewmate (.374/7/60). The vivid trio of starters are Alex Ruder (13-7, 3.65), Keith Lighthouse (10-7, 5.91), and John Kutner (8-3, 4.61). Valiant CL Chris Waters (6 SV, 2.93) will voyage to lead the bullpen. Standings

In the spirit of paying attention to the other leagues, I feel I'm contractually obligated as usual to say I am of course saddened the Orange Tourists didn't do better than they did. I'm still partial to the Star Force though as the best name there.
