Deactivate License

Hi looking for a little bit of community help. I recently bought a new PC. When I went to start OOTP24 I could not activate it. After searching around I found the link to deactivate the license.. But the form also wanted a computer ID. 2. questions Am I using the correct form, if not a link would be nice. Secondly, what is the computer ID?
I have put in a ticket but would love to start playing this weekend.

No form needed. If the old computer didn"t completely die and can be started then start it and fire up OOTP. when the first screen comes up at the bottom of the page is a settings link. Click that and the 4th heading to the right is "license/un-license game". Just un-license game and then re-license on new computer

Also the computer i.d. is your license key that you got when you bought the game. If you don't still have the e-mail with key then on the same settings tab click "troubleshooting" and then "show info about the game" the fastspring id is that key but you need tp remember to put a hyphen every 5 numbers/letters

Go the the Tech Support Forum - https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...lay.php?f=4043

You'll find an explanation how to submit a ticket there.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

You start by saying you couldn't "activate" 24.

Very next sentence you say you found a link to "deactivate"

So a bit confusing.

Are you trying to deactivate on the old PC and it's asking for the PC ID?

Or is the new PC asking for a PC ID when you try to activate?

If you are unable to deactivate on the old PC, submit a ticket explaining that and they will release the license so you can activate again on the new PC.

OOTP should not ask for a PC ID. That must be something to do with the PC. Which PC is asking, the old or the new?

Yes, but the form asks for a computer ID. It says optional but it is asking me for one. I do not know what is meant by computer ID.

Settings > System > About > Device ID

They probably don't need it, but I guess they ask for it to make sure they only release the license from one device instead of releasing it from all.

You would have to manually do it. But I am mostly sure that yes, this would be possible.

If your PC is dead, are you able to get your saved game?

The file structure between the Steam and non Steam versions are the same, just the file directories located in different parts of Windows.

Once you have Steam, for many games, there is something called Steam Cloud that will automatically move saved games between PCs for you.

OOTP does not take advantage of this unfortunately due to a combination of laziness and it not being a feature that makes them any money.

But to answer your question, if you managed to pull things off your now defunct PC, then you should be able to import them into the Steam version of OOTP and get back up and going.

There are no differences between the versions, just the files are in different places. And one is a whole lot easier to use in terms of licenses.

You should be able to take those folders and put them in the correct places and have your saved game again.

But I would wait on support to respond to your request.
In no way would I recommend purchasing the game again.

But Steam can be an option in the future if you no longer want to have to put up with this licensee nonsense.
