Player at new position not getting rated
I'm playing spring training games. I've had my 1st baseman start and play four complete games at third base and he still is only rated at 1st base.
I even changed his position on his player page to 3rd base and he's still not rated there. |

The couple cases I can see why they wouldn't gain training:
-The player throws left-handed -You're playing a historical game with recalc on -Their default ratings are so bad that basically it takes a lot of time for their rating at the position to get above "0" |

Definitely 2B. Although in Little League I had a left-handed friend who just wanted to be a middle IF, and the coach - bless him - let him play 2B. It wasn’t going to last in Babe Ruth, but Jeff was happy. Eventually he became a “crafty LHP” who could not throw hard, but learned junk and offspeed.
Here’s another reason why a lefty 2B is a bad idea. Turning the DP. I was running from 1B on a ground ball to SS in a pickup, coed softball game. Instinctively, I am coming in on the OF side of 2B, basically to avoid a collision with the 2B in a friendly game. Did not factor in that she was a lefty and would be throwing from the OF side. Clean toss from the SS, secondbaseperson has it and - I look up and a softball is heading straight for my face. I barely was able to duck in time, and ended up falling/sliding into the general vicinity of 2B. Runner safe at 1B. I very inadvertently broke up a DP. Never again. Sorry for the digression.

This is interesting.
Left-handed catchers are so uncommon that the last one to play in the Major Leagues was Benny Distefano in 1989. Distefano, a left-handed thrower, made three brief appearances as a catcher during that season |
