Historical league with fictional league added player dev question
I started a 1901 MLB historical league and added a 2nd fictional league to go along with it beginning in 1901 as well (MLB level).
After simming 5 years to test it out, I noticed the MLB teams regularly trade for or sign pitchers from the fictional league immediately. The strikeout numbers for all of these guys are 200+ on the year even though they're a 1 or 2 star rating both current/potential, whereas Rube Waddell is striking out 150 and Christy Mathewson has been lucky to break 100. I also noticed if I don't lock the league total stats in the fictional league the hitters will belt 40-50 homeruns even though the deadball era modifiers are in place. If I lock the league totals the numbers are equivalent to real deadball era stats (except for my pitching problem above). Does anyone have experience with this? Would it be smarter to make the fictional league equivalent to AAA quality to help the fictional pitching stats be less inflated when they migrate over to the MLB historical league? Thank you for any thoughts. |

I make mine Indy League with reputation between 6 and 9 depending on how good I want them. That plays a big part in the PCM settings etc.

You need to make sure you're applying historical league totals, league total modifiers, and player creation modifiers to your fictional league. If you create a fictional league and add it to an existing setup, that league will probably use the default MLB settings unless you tell it to do otherwise. However, when you first create your game, you might be able to add a fictional league and get everything set up the way you want it, by doing everything all at once. That can help make sure that you remember to choose and apply the right settings that you want.

3 things I've noticed that I'm still trying to fix. 1) Stolen bases in the fictional league (league leader had 192) 2) Low rated pitchers moving from fictional league to MLB coming in droves and racking up 250-300 K's. 3) People are hitting triples at the rate they usually hit doubles, and vice versa My assumption is this is a result of how the fictional players are created using default MLB modifiers? But then why would homeruns be resolved yet the low rated pitchers are still destroying people? I turned off interleague trade and only allowed free agency hoping the low ratings would prevent a bunch of players from being signed by MLB teams, to no avail. The 1 or 2 star pitchers are picked up as soon as simming begins. I tried making the fictional league an 8 on reputation and came up with similar results. If I can figure out the pitching issue that's really all I care about. It's tough seeing the top 6 guys in K's every year be low rated fictional players instead of the top rated players in MLB. |

My best guess is that you are continuing to see a conflict between the league totals and player creation modifiers for your fictional league and those of your real MLB. Or maybe there is something wrong with your historical league settings. I would have to see your saved game and your settings to figure it out, or I would probably have to create a new game and try to do what you're doing, to test the results and then show you the settings that I used if it worked correctly.
As Luckymann suggested earier, you might need to drop your league total modifiers for your fictional league and set them to a minor league level, and you might need to lower the reputation even further, down to 6. Did you create this game using the wizard for a historical league, a fictional league, or a custom league? What do the ratings look like for your fictional players compared to those in your real MLB? Do the players with skewed stats have higher ratings for your MLB players in those categories? What are the league total modifiers in your MLB, and how do they compare to the default 1.000 for the categories where you are seeing problems? |
