Can't say I'm surprised the Deathclaws came through after Roxbury was eliminated. They were who I expected to win it all, but it's quite impressive how little resistance the Deathclaws had in quest of their title. Barely broke a sweat in any series!

I have a feeling that the trade to acquire Aesed Hayjen made a huge difference. This team is like the 1927 Yankees with its overpowering lineup.

November 2304
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 2 November 2305 The November Super Post CBO News and Notes Barney Rook has sold the Salem Witch Hats to businessman Nelson Latimer. As part of the deal, Latimer has agreed to keep the team in Salem for 15 years unless circumstances deemed necessary by the commissioner. Latimer will take over full ownership on January 1, 2306. Latimer is a businessman from Diamond City. His family was a part of the "Upper Deck" community before Diamond City moved out of the Great Green Jewel. While Latimer originally sought his own business dealings, he has since legitimized his businesses with stakes in Lucky Lukowskis and the Upper Deck Chems Distributors group. He is majority owner of Upper Deck Chems Distributors and now the sole owner of the Witch Hats franchise. Rook, 88, has been stressed out by recent attacks and decided to turn his attention toward defending his town as the "original survivor of Salem." "I ain't got much left in years, so me and Reba are going to spend the rest of our time left on this here earth protecting Salem," Rook said. "They can have baseball." CBO Players of the Year NCA Hitter - Lannie Tykeson has been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization enough to know a good hot streak when he sees one -- and he got to see one firsthand all year. For his standout run through the 2305 season, he's taking home the Nuka-Hitter Award in the North Charles Association. The Easy Town first baseman put up a batting average of .365 with 20 doubles, 1 triple, 35 home runs and 100 RBIs. He received 13 first place votes out of a possible 24. Zeldolph Violet of the County Crossing Bloodbugs finished second in voting with 11 first place votes, while Maxx Murtagh of the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys finished third. It's Beachboy Nut, this year's North Charles Association Vim! Pitcher Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Nut compiled a 16-8 record in 30 starts, tallied 184 strikeouts in 216.2 innings and recorded a 2.37 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .225 batting average against him. He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Brian Bridges of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists finished second in voting, while Eugene Gym of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists finished third. He caught the attention of everybody in the league on his way to winning the 2305 SCA Vim! Pitcher Award. Laloosh starred with an impressive 16-4 record in 29 starts. The Rad Sox ace gave up 183 base hits and struck out 173 in 215.1 innings with a 2.47 ERA. He received 23 first place votes out of a possible 24. Deedee Martinson of the Atom Cats finished second in voting, while College Luckyman of the Roxbury Rad Sox finished third. He kept it short and sweet in the press conference as he accepted the award. "Thanks, but it wasn't just me out there this season." The Bloodbugs finished the regular season in third place in the North Charles Association Brotherhood League with a 72-48 record. SCA Manager - Woody Lumpkin has molded the University Point Deathclaws into a top-flight South Charles Association team. The 2305 Skipper of the Year came into spring training with a commitment to getting the most out of his Deathclaws. "I told them I had no preconceived notions about them, that all of them were blank slates as far as I was concerned. I told them to learn my system and we would win. I told them all the spots on the roster were open, that the best players would play -- young or old, rookie or vet -- and that I expected them to hustle, to work hard, and play as a team. They bought into it and made me look good." And Woody Lumpkin certainly got the most out of his ballclub. The Deathclaws wrapped up the season in first place in the South Charles Association Minutemen League with a 84-36 record. NCA Rookie - Lexington third baseman Sun Crockett set the tone for rookies across the North Charles Association in 2305 and today was tabbed for the league's Red Rocket Rookie Award. He hit .264 in 111 games while collecting 98 hits, 24 home runs, 60 RBIs and scoring 59 runs. He received 21 first place votes out of a possible 24. Massachusetts Minor League The new AAA league for the CBO has been announced with lots of shuffling of existing teams changing affiliations and lots of new settlements getting their first teams. Interim Commissioner Jimmy LaRue was at the unveiling ceremony for the new look leagues. The Boston Minor Union will now be considered a AA league. LaRue stated that expansion and changes could mean the leagues move far beyond just Boston and neighboring communities in the former Massachusetts. According to LaRue, the CBO and minors could one day have teams throughout the New England Commonwealth. Advances at ArcJet Systems have focused on passenger flight vehicles. Vertibirds are not efficient for moving entire teams and staffs currently, but LaRue has stated it could be a reality in the future. He estimates the 20-year mark as a realistic scenario. LaRue also confirmed that the CBO has plans to expand to 28 teams. He stated that three definite locations are Goodneighbor's downtown location, Cambridge, and the Vault 95 area. Stadiums are under construction in all three areas with expected completion within the next 2-3 years. As part of that expansion, LaRue and the CBO have also identified ownership groups that could take over the teams. All groups have agreed to a consensus on renaming two of the franchises. The Cambridge franchise will be known as the Coursers and will use that team name as a part of their MML team starting in 2306. The Vault 95 franchise will be known as the Glowing Sea Radscorpions. They will also begin using that name in the MML starting in 2306 until they become a part of the CBO in the near future. LaRue stated that the expansion would occur at latest in 2310. The MML will be structured similarly with the CBO with four directional quadrants. Leagues and divisions will be fashioned after Boston Red Sox greats from the Pre-War days. The northern quadrants will be a part of the Legends League with the northwest quadrant called the Wade Boggs Division and the northeast quadrant called the Matt Murtagh Division. The southern quadrants will be a part of the Stars League with the southwest quadrant named the Ted Williams Division and the southeast quadrant called the Carl Yastrzemski Division. A model has shown all 24 teams' home and away jerseys. Boston Youth Development League The BYDL has added four more youth teams for the 2306 season and split its leagues into four divisions per region. The two new divisions will be named after two more Boston legends from its early days: Margaret Fuller and Louisa May Alcott. The four new teams in the BYDL will be the Sudbury Celebs, the Marlborough Minigunners, the Vault 95 Vault Boys, and the Plymouth Hunters. Southern Commonwealth Youth League The Cape Cod Youth League and Providence Junior Pro Leagues have merged to form a youth superleague in the southern portion of the Commonwealth. Interim Commissioner LaRue stated that the SCYL could one day merge with the BYDL to form a Massachusetts/Commonwealth Youth League. Two new teams will be a part of the new SCYL to balance the Cape Cod Division and Providence Division. Although both teams are in Massachusetts, they will be a part of the Providence Division: the New Bedford Whales and the Swansea Nuka Sox. Two existing teams also partially changed their names by shortening them. The West Seekonk Quahog will now be known as the Seekonk Quaghog. Also, the Wellfleet Settlement Beacons will just be known as the Wellfleet Beacons.

Hah!
I have so many BYDL teams that I did not notice until after posting this that I have two Minigunners teams. One of those will change!

2305 cbo
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 4 November 2305 CBO Draft to Change for 2305 CBO Interim Commissioner Jimmy LaRue announced today that tomorrow's Rookie Draft will be expanded to 15 rounds with the addition of the new Massachusetts Minor League joining the CBO. According to LaRue, the minimum number of rounds in 2306 will be at least 10 or, but 15 will be the rule for this season. The 15 rounds will be the second longest draft since the 2296 Inaugural Draft that went 27 rounds. For the 2305 Rookie Draft, 412 youth league players have been made eligible from the BYDL, CCYL, and PJPL leagues. Goodneighbor is expected to take CF Hondo Ohnaka (West Seekonk of PJPL) as first overall. He is expected to be followed in the top five by Chatham's (CCYL) LF Handel Alone (Quincy), Hester's (BYDL) C Kinsella Birdwatcher (The Slog), West Dennis' (CCYL) 1B Ani Waalk (Fort Hagen), and West Dennis' (CCYL) RF Pogo Cliffhanger (Bunker Hill). SP Pokey Chatman (Pawtucket, PJPL) is expected to be the first pitcher taken by Fort Hagen at #10 overall. The Silver Shroud acquired the 10th pick from Spectacle Island in a trade that sent C Stuart Constantino, a 2nd-round pick, a 3rd-round pick, and a 5th-round pick to the Reapers for the 1st-round pick, 1B Mark Brinetea, and P Junkyard Gourd. The OSA 1st-Round Mock Draft is included at the end of this article. LaRue also spoke more on the planned expansion of the CBO, stating that 2308 would be the ideal time but that 2309 or 2310 seemed more likely to correlate with finished Metro lines and stadium constructions. He also noted that the league would not expand until all four major league stadiums were completed and ready for full capacity. It is of note that three new stadiums are under construction in Goodneighbor, Vault 95, and Cambridge. Some other stadiums have been partially expanded with overall CBO-ready sizes in Abernathy, Graygarden, Malden, Nahant, and Warwick. At this time, neither Abernathy nor Warwick is expected to rejoin the CBO due to low populations in those settlements. Finch Farm is also under financial stress and cannot match the revenue that larger farm settlements like The Slog and Sunshine Tidings have been able to garner. The Four Leafs franchise petitioned to have all of their minor league teams close to Finch Farm to cut costs of scouting and staffing for those teams. In 2306, the Leafs minor league affiliates will be the Nahant Shoremen (MML), Clifton Vertibirds (BMU), and Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunters (GBRL). All three of those teams are located in the northeast quadrant. OSA Mock Draft

Excited to see how the longer draft effects the talent pool. I'm always a fan of more players/larger drafts, but I imagine this is more work on your end getting all the players right

I am also hoping that this would solve some of the cutting players early problems. I set roster limits only at the MML level with 25 players. The BMU will be age-restricted to 18+ but can have an infinite number of players. The GBRL has a 16+ rule with no roster limits. Since I am adding a few more youth teams, I may just keep the draft pool at 15. I had the problem in previous years where players were leaving the youth teams too soon but I think that was because of a lack of draft-eligible players who were seniors??? Hopefully, that is a problem the CBO will not have in the future and hopefully the 100th prospect of future years is higher than a 20/40 rating. I want the possibility that former stars get pushed out because the younger players outplay them. There is no loyalty in the wastelands, only survival! At the same time, "good" farm teams may have one or two pitchers in their system that appear to be starter ready and very few have pitchers that look anywhere near where the likes of Beachboy Nut, Nuke Laloosh, Derek Green, and Sheng Kawolski are. Naming is not too tough. I keep an Excel file of the intended names within the leagues. I go to each youth league once the freshmen are added and then edit names from there. One part of my naming conventions I find interesting is to see how past name files have certain themes. There is a big hint for the first overall player, but the second overall gives it away. Looking through the draft log, I can see what pop culture influence was used for that freshman class. These days, I have been adding on names here and there, so I just have a list that I random rearrange, use the names that are selected, and then kick the other names to the next year. Therefore, the names lists are a little more mixed up from recent additions.

2305 CBO Rookie Draft
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 6 November 2305 2306 Rookie Draft Analysis The first-ever 15-round CBO Rookie Draft is now complete with each team hoping to add a few pieces to their team that can help them in future years either through in-house development or trading for players from other teams. The complete draft results are below, but let's look first at the Top 5 picks and some overrated/underrated players taken throughout the draft. With the first overall pick, the Goodneighbor Hancocks selected LF Handel Alone out of Chatham of the CCYL. Alone is considered to be an elite offensive talent with the ability to hit for contact and power to all fields and stretch extra bases when needed. His defensive abilities could use some work, but he is not a bad defender. Still, he is best suited to play the corner outfield despite his speed. Quincy took CF Hondo Ohnaka out of West Seekonk of the PJPL. Many OSA scouts thought Ohnaka would be the sure #1 overall pick. Ohnaka is a decent CF player but may find himself playing a corner OF spot in the CBO. What he does have is the potential to be a #3 or #4 hitter in a big league lineup with a fast bat and good upswing that sends lots of balls out of the park. In 147 career games with the Quahog, he hit only 30 home runs, but he'll hit 10+ in batting practice. 1B Propellor Perimeter out of South Beach of the BYDL was The Slog's pick at #3. Scouts love the big bat on Perimeter with the potential to be a .300+/40+ HR hitter in the CBO. Fort Hagen took LF Pogo Cliffhanger with the 4th overall pick. The West Dennis (CCYL) star shows good leadership ability and work ethic. Scouts love his contact ability and rate it among the best current ability of all rookies drafted. We can become a walks machine, too, if he continues to practice discipline at the plate, which will help him in competing for OBP titles in the future. His defense is lacking, which is the only real negative about him. Otherwise, he projects to be an everyday player in the future. RF Shmi Earthwalker out of Provincetown (CCYL) was the 5th pick by Bunker Hill. Earthwalker has an outstanding arm that can easily gun out runners at the plate. He is better known for his bat where he is expected to develop into a premier power hitter in the league. Why nows? This appears to be a rare year where the 1st round did not have any players who scouts questioned what the team's scouts saw. Every player picked in the 1st round was expected to be a high pick somewhere. In fact, the only player that scouts had a bit lower than a 1st-round grade was the Sunshine Tidings' pick at 21st overall, CF Pad Mee. It's not because Mee is not a good player, but he was hurt most of his senior season at West Dennis of the CCYL, playing in only six games. Egret's 3rd-round pick, 16th of the round, SP Burke Bowles out of Woburn (BYDL) is the first truly questionable pick. Not only is Bowles not expected by the OSA to be a CBO-level pitcher, but the Ninjas probably will not get to see him pitch until 2307 since he is out with a serious elbow injury. The Shroud also chose an injured pitcher with their 4th-round pick, SP Salacious Crumb out of Concord-Lexington of the BYDL. He should be ready to go by April, so he is likely to get playing time in 2306, but that is assuming he comes back ready to go. OSA scouts are also not keen on him ever developing into a CBO-level pitcher even without the injury. In 2305, he was 3-6 with a 3.84 ERA, which was actually considered a good ERA in the offense-happy BYDL. Top Value Per Round Top Value in the 1st round is calculated by OSA scouts by their potential rating score compared to the peers around them. When a player's potential is much higher than the players taken around him (two before and two after), then that player is considered a high-value pick. In every other round, the player with the top-rated potential is considered the best value. The players with the best values each round are judged below, via the OSA team: 1st - 20th pick, Jamaica Plain - CF Leif Organa (Chatham, CCYL) - 65 potential. Best abilities: Gap and Avoid K's. Good defensive player. 2nd - 44th overall, Jamaica Plain - 2B Wookie Chewbacca (West Seekonk, CCYL) - 71 potential. Best abilities: Avoid K's and Gap. Good defensive player. 3rd - 69th pick, Sunshine Tidings - 1B Elijah de Love (Castle, BYDL) - 80 potential. Scouts love this late-bloomer, not playing regularly until his senior season. Indeed! They were not rested enough heading into the Sole Survivor Series, and University Point was frothing at the mouth on offense all season.

December discovery: the AI went stupid and cut just about every drafted player, who got snapped up by teams in the NWL and VimL. Sheesh.
I don't know if I just need to manually move every player, go back to the backup file before expanding the league and teams, or something else. Maybe it's time to incorporate financials and make it impossible for CBO players to move to the independent leagues. This is AFL/NFL-level sabotage!

Autosave is set for every day. I usually back up every January 1 of the game year, but I did one this time on the first day of the offseason since I was adding a minor league and creating a new youth league for the CCYL-PJPL merger.

I changed the CBO to be 18+ as a rule since I wanted to avoid the bad teams sending their 23/75 rookie to the CBO team, which I have noticed happening a few times. I want those players to play at least a couple of years in the minors. I set the MML to also be 18+, the BMU to be 17+, and the GBRL to be 16-21. Well, OOTP made it a rule up and down the board that all 16-17 years olds are ineligible to play in the CBO or any of its affiliates. Therefore, all 16-17 year olds drafted were cut. I found a faster way to figure out who was cut and what team they belong to by going to individual teams' transaction logs. I am just manually clicking on each player and moving him back to the proper GBRL team. I also removed the age rules since they are not working the way I intend. Better to have a few prospects "ruined" rather than having to manually adjust and monitor rosters each season.

Yeah at least this should be a one and done fix. I imagine as systems get deeper, you'll see less and less of the really underdeveloped prospects spending time in the majors.

Well, at least it's fixed. That type of thing usually is what demotivates me from large projects, but I guess at the end of the day it wasn't the end of the world.
On the more Fallout end of the spectrum, on a whim I have a 10-day weekend at the same time I found a copy of Fallout 76 I'd acquired in a bundle about 11 months ago. I know you've said you haven't played that one, and while I won't spam, I can pass along anything that might be particularly relevant if I find anything. |

II know I had a similar incident happen when I tried to change the region of the teams where it cut every player not from Massachusetts (players from ME, VT. NH, CT, RI). I need to be more thorough in my test league when I make changes because I did not notice mass cuts either time I did a thorough test.
