Historical Rookies in Fictional League

I have searched the forum and watched Landsowne (sp?) links to videos and cant seem to find the answer.

My goal is to set up a fictional league beginning in 1901 with random cities and random nicknames, 16 teams with 5 minor league levels and three feeder leagues.

What I would like to do is start the league in 1901 and add historical rookies but have the game create the amateur draft pool from rookies of all eras. What would happen if Babe Ruth started his career in 2014 instead of 1914. How would Greg Maddux do if he pitched in the 1920's instead of the 80's and 90's?

While the rest of the settings don't apply, I have checked the import historical settings box and the Add random rookies from all eras box.

This should allow me to start the league with fictional players and beginning in 1901 start drafting historical rookies, correct? Yet it seems none of the historical players ever appear in the draft! Where am I going wrong?

I should add that I can do this by importing the MLB database, but I hope to create a league that evolves on its own and I do not have that option if I use that database. A true fictional league with random major league players.

If you have feeder leagues make sure you have "Disable automatic creation of Free Agents" and then also have under draft feeding mode "Feeder league + Additional players" selected. Then also make sure you have enough rounds for the draft as if you have too many feeder players and it fills up the draft you will not see any historical players. I usually use 40 rounds because it also helps fill up the minors which you will have issues doing for the first few years.

Also, do me a huge favor once you have this setup. Let me know if historical rookies seem to be created with lower potential then what you think they should be, like for example, Nolan Ryan shows up and he is a like 50 for over all potential and his velo is like super low or if other things look off on historical players you would know to be elite players just not being created as elite.
