One verisimilitude issue with the colorization of Bennett: he was never with the Mets in Spring Training and would never have worn the home pinstripes anywhere but at Shea Stadium.

Thanks for all the postings, rrb77, but I think Harry Curtis is in a 1907 New York Giants uniform rather than a Highlanders uniform. The two unis are similar, but Curtis is known to have played for the Giants that year. The cap is also more consistent with that of the Giants.

I have it saved in my files as Giants, I for some unknown reason had a disconnect between my head and fingers when typing. Thanks for the fix!

Guilty as charged! The spring-training background is from a Bill Murphy Topps Vault slide. Maybe one day I'll sub the background for Shea....

I think those photos are of the 1888 Manchester team. The Manchester Historical Sociey has the 1886 team photo in their collection (which I've attached).

as for Rooney Sweeney, is there no known good shots of what his face looked like?

Sadly that is the only known photo of Sweeney, and much of his life post-baseball is unknown at this time.
