Can you help me with settings to accomplish this
I want to do a historical project and need help setting it up as I am not great with the settings.
I basically want to start in the first year the game allows, I want to have all history erased (all records, hall of fame players, etc.) Which I assume if I start a historical from year 1 in the game which would be 1871 I want to have all players as I move through the years come up with the team they should, all transactions to be duplicated, everything done as it would be in the history of baseball, and I am just playing the games to see who wins and what types of numbers come up. So, my questions are this. 1- Is this doable 2- What settings do I need to make this happen? 3- If I started at say 1901 instead, I assume all records and such before 1901 would be in the game, correct? |

I don't know what year historical transactions start. Assuming it's later than 1871 you'll have some history to get rid of.
See post 11 HERE and the link in it.

Why do people use different players, different lineups, different strategy, development, talent change randomness, and the development lab, but judge the game on whether it produces historical statistics? |

Transactions start with 1901. That's also when OOTP's historical module becomes 100% historical as far as franchises & league structure. (Before 1901, OOTP historical is more like an alternate history, due to all of the real-life changes and instability. Many of the teams are there, but there are no contractions and expansions are slimmed down, and you don't get the pre-1901 major leagues like National Assoc, Player's League, Union League, AA; instead, you get a fairly stable MLB with AL & NL beginning in 1871. the main changes are that the league starts smaller and expands by the 1890's to something similar to what 1901 looked like. Or something like that...).
That said, there are some threads where OOTPers discuss their processes for doing pre-1901 in a historical manner. The steps are somewhat involved... So unless you are already a veteran OOTP gamer and are familiar with some of the ins & outs of modifying files and/or tweaking advanced settings and so forth, with what you want to do I'd highly recommend starting with 1901. |

thehef said start 1901. Follow the instructions the link I previously posted. Set historical transactions to yes. Set evolution to no. There are choices you will need to make such as players retiring according to history.
