Speed, Steal, and Baserunning Ratings

Is it normal for a players running ratings to change as the season progresses. This is the 3rd time I have restarted my season, and every time, in less than ten games, I have noticed certain players, typically the base stealers, numbers drop drastically. 1970, and Joe Morgan is down to 25, while Lou Brock is down to 20. I don't remember what Morgan's numbers were, but Brock was an 80 at the start of the season, on a 20-80 rating scale. I have checked my settings, and checked the manual, but can't find an answer. I thought ratings would only change from season to season.

Ratings do change routinely, but almost always by 1 point at a time. Most often, speed goes down, stealing may go either way, and baserunning goes up. I assume this is age related. Doesn't explain your findings, though.

No, every time a player is scouted his rating will change during the season. It's very common for this to happen.

I could understand a couple of points, but not from one extreme to another. And it shouldn’t be age related. Both of these particular players were not near the end of their careers. Brock was 31 in 1970. He stole 51 bases that year and 53 the year before. Morgan was 26. He stole 42 bases in 1970, and 49 the year before. They had great ratings in game one, but by game 7-10, they dropped drastically.

So, I just dug deeper, and it seems these ratings come from my team scout. Morgan is on my team, but Brock is not. Apparently, he just rated them. So, according to this, will I see a drop in performance, or are these just scouting ratings? Brock has 29 AB / 7 Hits/ ) SB,CS. Dropped from an 80 to 20 in speed. Morgan has 19 BB, 1 Hit, 1 SB and 1CS. His speed rating dropped from 75 to 25.

I think I just found the issue. It is the difference between my scout and the OSA scouting. That was driving me nuts!!! Still learning the game. Oh well, at least with each restart of the game, I added a few more players via trade
