I understand why they'd want to give that options list more viewing room, since it's quite long, but I just want to add that I did like having batter vs. pitcher stats on this screen.

It's the same list it's always been. It may be wider dependent on your screen, but vertically is hasn't changed in what can be seen.

Here is a screen from my v23 and the one from v25. Notice at the bottom "HR Horn" is the last item on both lists. Oh, and one more from v22.

It's not just the stats line. Yes, that seems to be taken away if the resolution is too low. I get the stats on my ultra wide monitor, but the "stats vs. today's SP" is gone from all screens. At least I assume it's gone from all screens if 3440 width doesn't show it. I get trying to streamline things, but taking away useful information we've always had is not the way to do it.

I look at this before every game for both my SP v their Batters, and their SP v my Batters. It's nice to know going in my star batter is only 3 for 21 against the SP and since he's due a day off anyway, today will be a good time to sit him. Before settling on a sub I can put someone in the lineup, pop out to the pregame matchup screen, and see how that player has performed against the SP.

If they would put a way in the substitution screen to see how the players hit against today's SP, current P on the mound, or better yet be able to select any of their P's from a menu we wouldn't need the stats on the opening screen. This could be used to check all of your hitters against any of their P's. And let you see how their hitters did against any of your relievers before deciding who to warm up. But for now I'd be happy if they just put back the information they removed from the pregame matchup screen.

Mathbandit's screen is how it's always looked for me on both 24 and 25. I *think* the thing where you can show the career stats vs the starter was removed though. Otherwise, I'd love to have the extra stats on that screen but I only get my views if I go to the substitution screen.

Does the batter / pitcher matchup history provide any marginal predictive value? Even as shorthand for things like platoon and pitch mix effects, the sample sizes will generally be so small that using the data would imply a belief that the idiosyncratic matchup effects are quite large to make any findings worthwhile.

Yeah, I commented early in the thread based on the OP's screenshot. I was getting more than his was showing, but it turns out that's a resolution deal. I didn't even realize the stats against the pitchers deal was missing. I agree it would be nice if it was still there. I wonder if the menu deal was put out to the side for those that like to change camera views etc. for each park they play in? Not sure why it was changed.

The intent was to give more space to the options, rather than that very tiny box at the top like last year.

The next patch should be a little more lenient about what resolution we switch to the compact view. And certainly we'll keep gathering feedback and consider options for making better use of the space in the future.

Unless something has changed OOTP has code so some batters do have more success against some pitchers, and vise versa. I'm don't recall if it was pitcher/batter types or individuals? Like many OOTP things under the hood, it may be small, but it is there. Again unless something has changed.
This is something that was talked about a very long time ago. Could be it was even v6.5 and before. Long enough ago I couldn't really say.

If that were to have changed the removed batter v pitcher information still did provide immersion, and would be nice to have again. IMHO.

Thanks, Matt. I worry that no matter the resolution, I’ll never get the data back as things currently stand. My 15-inch laptop, for example, showed the batter vs. pitcher data in 24 but not in 25. Even when I moved to an external monitor (with 25) doesn’t give me the data.

Same here, but I'm hopeful for next week. The past history against a pitcher was one of my favorite parts of reviewing the pregame matchup.

Same. I didn’t see anything in the patch notes related to this though.

Eh, I'd rather have stats get the real estate than options.
