Game starting regular season soon after first day of preseason

I am playing with a franchise which I have transferred over from OOTP24.
Transfer was made a few days after the conclusion of the 2025 season.
Because the game is not generating a league events schedule -- opening day, all-star game, player draft, end of regular season, etc. -- I have had to do it myself through the league events schedule generator contained the MLB news section.
When I got to "Preseason begins" on Jan. 28, the game just skipped spring training -- I had it scheduled to begin in late February, but the tab itself just disappeared from the list in league events -- and it generated a regular season schedule with games beginning February 4.
Like this season, it was Dodgers-Padres played in some foreign country with the rest of the league beginning a week later.
I have no clue what is going on -- I ran it through twice and it happened both times -- so any help would be appreciated.
